Please bring pictures of friends and loved ones to be remembered on that date. CRAFT FAIR Saturday, November 7 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Crafts for Thanksgiving and Christmas as well as everyday items will be available. Remember to bring in your baked goods for the bake sale we have that day Also plan to attend and let all your friends and family know about this great opportunity to do some Christmas shopping. Post this on your FaceBook, blog, twitter or send an to everyone you know - any way you can get the word out. Please watch for sales on the following items: boxes of stuffing mix, canned fruit, cranberry sauce, canned sweet potatoes, canned applesauce, gravy (jars or cans), cookie mix/cake mix & frosting. Also, cash will help with the purchase of fresh potatoes, apples and oranges and the turkey s that can be purchased for lower prices in quantity. We plan to provide Thanksgiving dinners for at least 6 families. Please come and help get these boxes ready for sending on Saturday, November 14 th from 12 4 p.m. Detailed lists of needed items are on the Ushers Table in the back of the church. It s our mission to needy children throughout the world. Thanksgiving Service Tuesday, November 24 th 7 p.m. We ll celebrate so bring family and friends to our service and celebrate with pie, coffee and fellowship afterwards. Many thanks to those who serve. of family gathered to share their stories and to sit around a table filled with traditional and ethnic delicacies. Our family has lamb from the grill as well as turkey, we roast chestnuts, and our daughter, Sarah, makes a passel of pies. Most importantly, we make a point of expressing our thanks to God, to family and to friends for the many blessings that we have enjoyed. Those blessings are not diminished by troubles or losses that we may have experienced. As Job explained, having enjoyed God s many blessings, how can we complain of the difficulties that we endure. I am sure that you have your own Thanksgiving traditions. However, I invite you to begin the holiday by joining me for Mass on Tuesday evening preceding. The Lord has been good to the community of St. Michael. So, it is only fitting that we thank Him for his blessings as a community. We end the liturgical year with the feast of Christ the King. This feast does not honor Christ as a worldly monarch He rejected that role on many occasions. Rather, it acknowledges Him as our model as we work together to build His kingdom here on earth and to earn a place in His heavenly kingdom for eternity. It is a very appropriate end to the Church year and a good transition into Advent, a season of preparation that begins the new liturgical year on Sunday, November 29. 3 My dear friends, If you have been tracking the progress of the orange arrow around our liturgical calendar, then you know that this is the last month of our Church year. It has gone by so quickly Advent into Christmas and Epiphany, to Lent, the Passion then Easter, and the long season of Pentecost or ordinary time. We have certainly been busy throughout those eleven months, and yet, there is still much to be accomplished! We begin the month with two important feasts, All Saints Day (Sunday, November 1) and All Souls Day (Monday, November 2). The first reminds us of our belief, expressed in the Apostles Creed, in the communion of saints and of our invitation to draw on their inspiration and intercession in times of trouble. It is like belonging to a union, a brotherhood that will stand with us whenever we are in need. The second is a wonderful feast during which we remember all those loved ones who have gone before us. They live on in our memories. They comprise our heritage, a vital part of who we are. It is very telling that acknowledgment of those who have led the way is part of almost every culture, Christian and non-christian, with every degree of social, political, and technological complexity. At St. Michael, we inscribe their names in our Book of Remembrance and display their pictures around the altar at Mass on the first Sunday of No- From your Priest-in-Charge vember. This month is also a critical time to complete our 2015 pledges. Some have done so already, and others are solidly on schedule to do so before the end of the year. Still others, however, have fallen behind and may need an extra push to catch up. It s not too late. We are all counting on you! This is likewise an important time to consider prayerfully our pledges for Search your hearts. Pledge only what you are able, but do be generous. Next year will be a tipping point in the survival of St. Michael as our subsidy from the diocese will end next June. There is always so much happening at St. Michael. Our Junior Warden, Bill Horne, with the help of Brent Grover and others, is completing the upgrade of our facility lighting, made possible with your generous contributions to the Lighting Challenge. We should see savings on our electric bill this month! In the meantime, Claudia Horne will bring the fall Craft Fair to St. Michael on November 7. It is a significant fund raiser for the Church. I am sure you will want to be a part of the fun by helping to set up or break down the vendor tables, sell raffle tickets, prepare baked goodies or sell lunch at the event. Invite your family, friends and neighbors. As we approach the end of the month, we celebrate Thanksgiving. This holiday has always been one of my favorites. I love to join generations

Flowers are $15 each and Lamps are $7 each. Please make checks payable to St. Michael s and contact Tracey Clinton by mail, phone, or in person to add the names of anyone you d like to honor or memorialize with an altar lamp or flower arrangement.
