Blessed be the holy Trinity, + one God, who forgives all our sin, whose mercy endures forever. Amen Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. The assembly kneels or stands. Silence is kept for reflection. The following confession is prayed. Most merciful God, we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen. The presiding minister announces God's forgiveness with these words: In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for his sake God forgives us all our sins. Almighty God, you have taught us in your Son that love fulfills the law. Inspire us to love you with all our heart, our soul, our mind, and our strength, and teach us how to love our neighbor as ourselves, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. First Reading: Isaiah 25:6-9 6 On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-matured wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-matured wines strained clear. 7 And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; 8 he will swallow up death for ever. Then the Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. 9 It will be said on that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. Selah Second Reading: Revelation 21:1-6 1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; 4 he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away. 5 And the one who was seated on the throne said, See, I am making all things new. Also he said, Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true. 6 Then he said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead for four days. 40 Jesus said to her, Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God? 41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upwards and said, Father, I thank you for having heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me. 43 When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come out! 44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Hymn of the Day: Abide with Me *Statement of Faith The Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

5 *Prayers of Intercession: With the people of God gathered here and throughout the world, we offer our prayers for the church, the world, and all people in need. A brief silence Lord God, Sovereign of all creation, draw us into your presence, and transform us to be a holy people. Bless us through your word and holy meal to show your uncommon love to others. Lord, in your mercy, Move us to reinvigorate polluted waters and air, renew fallow fields, and revive natural habitats that have been destroyed. Open our eyes to the bounty you have given us, and inspire us to tend to it. Lord, in your mercy, Fill our public servants and we who elect them to office with your wisdom. Let your justice flow through our governments and institutions. Lord, in your mercy, Unbind those who are burdened by illness or grief. Wipe away the tears of those who cannot see your life through the weight of their affliction. Be with those who will die today. Lord, in your mercy, Strengthen and bless this congregation s ministries of outreach, healing, and hospitality. Make us eager to receive those you send to us. Lord, in your mercy, We bless you for the lives of the saints who now rejoice in your salvation face-to-face. Join us with all whom you have made righteous, and preserve us in eternal life. Lord, in your mercy, Enfold all things in your compassion, O God, and bring us into your life through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Through your goodness you have blessed us with these gifts: ourselves, our time, and our possessions. Use us, and what we have gathered, in feeding the world with your love, through the one who gave himself for us, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. Communion All who believe in the death and resurrection as given in this bread and wine are welcome to the table today. We will commune today at the altar rail. You are invited to kneel (but don t feel bad if you have to stand). If you are unable to come forward, communion can be served in your pew-please let the ushers know. Gluten free wafers are available from the communion server upon request. You are welcome to this Table of our Lord. As the Communion servers are receiving communion, the congregation is invited to join in singing Lamb of God. Holy Communion Distribution *Post Communion Prayer: Let us pray. We give you thanks, almighty God, that you have refreshed us through the healing power of this gift of life. In your mercy, strengthen us through this gift, in faith toward you and in fervent love toward one another; for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. *Blessing: The Lord bless you and keep you. THANKOFFERING: Thankoffering Sunday is November 18, This is the time to give thanks for all the blessings we have received as individuals, as families and as a nation. The women of First Lutheran will be participating in the church service on this day. This is also an opportunity to give a new blanket that will go with the quilts made by Dorcas Sewing Circle to Lutheran World Relief. The blanket you bring can be put in front of the church by the altar. There will be special envelopes in the pews to make a special donation to FLCW for World Relief. Please come and bring joyful hearts to this service. SPECIAL FLCW BOARD MEETING, Tuesday, November 6, We will gather at 2:30 p.m. to pack the School Kits for Lutheran World Relief. The board meeting will start at 4:00 p.m. BIRTHDAY PARTY AT WHISPERING PINES: First Lutheran Church Women will host the monthly birthday party and Bingo game at Whispering Pines on Thursday, November 8 at 1:30 p.m. FLCW members are encouraged to attend. Please plan to arrive at 1:30 p.m. to help residents with the Bingo game and then serve angel food cake with strawberries. Come and share a smile with the Whispering Pines residents.

8 MONDAY EVENING ADULT BIBLE STUDY: One of the most controversial books in the Bible is often thought to be Revelation--I'm not so sure about controversial, but at the very least it is often considered to be one of the most confusing. While all questions obviously won't be resolved, let's demystify it a little bit; you are invited to join us as we consider this Biblical book that has stirred the imaginations of countless through the last two thousand years (sometimes in the wrong direction). We will gather starting at 6:00 for dinner Monday, Nov. 12, 19 and Dec. 3, with the study running from 6:30-7:30. (If you want to also read my source material, I'm going to be primarily using "Revelation and the End of All Things" by Craig Koester--this is decently in depth, but also quite readable--and Lutheran.) Not Required. Always Appreciated! This is the tag you will see on the FLCW Coffee Fund Jar that is available the first Sunday of the month on the serving counter in the Fellowship Hall. All donations received will be used to help First Lutheran Church Women (FLCW) continue to pay for the coffee purchased for church use. CINNAMON ROLL SALES!
