We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen. P: Our Lord Jesus came down that we might have love His deep love for all humanity and for all creation. Because of that love, He has forgiven us all of our sins and is eager to fill us with light and truth. As you await His coming again, hear the good news. 3 Prayer of the Day: Stir up your power, Lord Christ, and come. By your merciful protection awaken us to the threatening dangers of our sins, and keep us blameless until the coming of your new day, for you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. 4 *The Apostles Creed: C: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. It s nice when something positive manages to break its way through the darkness. In that respect, our Gospel reading this week from Mark, more than delivers. In John the Baptist, it begins! We hear of the promise of the One who will come to change what we know of as good news forever. That news is not only intended to be told by a prophet (wearing camel hair and eating locusts and wild honey), but by you and by me, not only during Advent, but each day as we repent and await the coming Messiah. Consider this week how your life too might tell of this promise to a world that waits, wonders, prays, and hungers to hear some good news? Promised God, we give thanks for your presence in our lives and the gift of your Son, Jesus. This Advent, grow in our hearts a living faith that tells others each day of your incredible love.
