4 Notes on Worship Thank you for worshiping with us. Large print bulletins are available from an usher. The right half of the Sanctuary as you face the altar is equipped with a hearing loop system for use with hearing aides or upon request, a headset. Worship Books Though the entire service is projected on the screen, if you d like to refer to the music for a hymn, you will find our hymn books in the pew-back in front of you. Page numbers are in the front, Hymn numbers are the larger numbers on the top corners of the page. Communion All those who are baptized and believe that Christ is present in this meal are welcome to receive communion with us. When directed by an Usher, please come forward using the center aisle and kneel or stand at the altar rail. You will receive the bread then the wine. Grape juice & gluten free wafers are available upon request. Children who do not yet commune receive a blessing. Once you have been served, please return to your pew by the side aisles. If you are unable to come forward but wish to receive communion, let an Usher know and communion will be brought to you. Flowers for the Altar Thank you for your gracious gestures of assisting in beautifying the altar with flowers. The cost is $35. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the narthex. Sunday Hospitality Treats Sign up on the bulletin board in the narthex to provide treats (donuts, bagels, etc.) for Sunday hospitality time following worship. You may bring the treats (3-4 dozen) or simply add a P behind your name and pay $30 to the church office and the treats will be purchased for you. 6 Mission & Outreach February Mission of the Month Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus This month we ask you to focus monetary gifts and prayers of blessings on our NALC partner in Ethiopia, Africa. We support the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY). "Evangelical" means "Lutheran" and "Mekane Yesus" means "dwelling place of Jesus." The growth of EECMY has been enormous since its constitution in Missionaries who ventured to serve there in 1960 have seen growth from 20,000 then to OVER 5 MILLION now. And we have been supporting this growth and can continue to support its outreach! Additional exciting statistics can be found at ( Please help the EECMY continue to spread the Gospel in Africa, sharing the Good News and carrying out the Great Commission. God chose us to be loaded with HIS blessings with the expectation, to whom much is given, much is to be expected. Way to go Calvary supporting the Great Commission through our NALC mission partner EECMY. Our monetary gifts in February support the growth of Christianity with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus. February Souper Bowl Food Sunday Thank you to everyone who contributed to Calvary s Cupboard last month. The next Food Sunday is Souper Bowl Sunday, with 6
7 collection on February 18-19, Any type of soup is acceptable. Other items of need at the Waukesha Food Pantry are rice, canned meats, fruits or vegetables, and cereals. If you prefer to make a monetary contribution, please mark your envelope or check with the notation Food Pantry. Love and Logic Parenting Class Sundays starting February 19 from 3-5 p.m. Want to raise self-confident, motivated children who are ready for the real world? Join us for Love and Logic! This six week class will give us loving, yet powerful tools for parenting children of all ages. Our first meeting will be this Sunday, February 19, from 3 5 p. m. We ll also meet the same time on March 5, 12, 19, 26 and April 2. Childcare provided: $2 per child, per hour with a family cap of $10 per week. The course is $75 per person OR $90 per couple. FIRM - Families in Real Ministry Family Tubing Fun Sunday, February 26 - Sign Up Now! All are invited for an afternoon of tubing & fun at Sunburst Winter Sports Park in Kewaskum. We will meet at church at 11:30 a.m. for lunch and leave for the hills at noon and return approximately 4 p.m. See the glass doors of the Narthex for more information and to sign up. FAT Tuesday Dinner - February 28, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. Come and experience a little bit of Mardi Gras, Calvary Youth Style! Pancakes, jazz, beads, and friends! Satisfy your hunger one more time before Lent begins. Calvary s youth will prepare and serve a hearty Fat Tuesday supper of jambalaya, scrambled eggs, pancakes, etc. for you to enjoy as you listen to New Orleans jazz and catch colorful strings of beads tossed by our youth. It s a celebration you won t want to miss! Bring your friends, relatives, classmates, and neighbors! Please sign up on the glass wall in the narthex so we know how much batter to make! Free will offerings will be for Calvary Youth, Mission Trip, and Camps. 7
8 Mid-week Lenten Services This is Most Certainly True - Built on a Sure Foundation is the theme for the 7 p.m. Wednesday Lenten Services. Plan now to attend starting with Ash Wednesday, March 1. A brochure with the topics and additional Lenten information is available now in the Narthex. Lenten Suppers Sign up as individuals or as a group to bring soup, salad, bread, and/or set up/clean up for the Wednesday Lenten Suppers. The sign up sheet is on the glass doors of the Narthex. Hearing Loop Installed An induction loop hearing system was installed on the right half of the Sanctuary as you face the altar. Individuals seated in this area with a hearing aide will benefit from this new technology. The hearing aide will either automatically utilize the T setting or can be manually switched to the T setting depending on the hearing aide technology. Also available are separate loop receiver headsets to use this technology if the hearing aide is not compatible or not utilized. A one-page handout on this technology is available from the greeters. Community Opportunities Various events, volunteer and service opportunities are brought to the attention of Calvary. These opportunities are posted on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. Check it out! Christian Education and Youth Adult & Youth Christian Education Christian Education continues on Sunday, February 19th from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for adult and Sunday School. Please note the In Depth Scripture Study led by Wayne Johnson will be on break for the 8
9 next few weeks. All adults are welcome to join Jim Harrison s Study: Tackling Today s Topics. Pastor s Bible Study We will meet on Wednesday, February 22, at noon. Bring your Bibles! 3rd-5th Grade Youth Group Plan to attend our gathering on Sunday, February 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Bring a friend! Summer Camp - Early Registration before March 1 Calvary has selected the week of June to attend Lutherdale Summer Camp. It s Sports Week at camp!
