1 Archdiocese of Detroit St. John s Deaf Center Our Lady of Loretto West Detroit Catholic Deaf Catholic Deaf Newsletter June Volume 36 Issue 6 Dear Brothers and Sisters, It is hard to believe that the school year has ended and summer is here! I always love summer because I can do many things outside. I look forward to attend International Catholic Deaf Association US Section conference on June in St. Louis, Missouri. June has three important days in the Church calendar. The first one is June 4 the Pentecost Sunday. On that day, we remember when Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to his followers. The Church considers Pentecost Sunday to be its birthday. It was in 33 AD when Jesus sent the Holy Spirit. So that means the Catholic Church will be 1,984 years old on June 4! June 11 is other important day. It is the Trinity Sunday when we honor the three Persons of God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Finally, we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi on June 18. Corpus Christi in Latin means Body of Christ. This feast reminds us of the full presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist (holy communion). In addition, June 18 is Father s Day. On this day, we remember and honor our fathers and celebrate with other men who are fathers themselves. Don t forget God is our Father too and please remember to say Happy Father s Day to God on that day. Have a wonderful summer! God bless. Fr. MD
