2 July : Bishop will participate at the CEFTL (Conseil des évêques francophones sur la traduction de la Liturgie) Meeting in France. Have a good and safe vacation everyone!!! August 30,: Bishop s BBQ with his clergy!! May and June 2018 May 10: During Education Week, Bishop Poitras presides over a Mass at St. Joseph Parish at 10 am for the youth of O'Gorman High School. May 10: South pastoral meeting in Earlton May 12: English Regional Meeting in Kirkland Lake May 17: Presbyteral Council Meeting at the Diocesan Center in Timmins May 22: DPC (Diocesan Pastoral Council) Meeting in Ramore May 23rd to 29th: 50th anniversary of His Eminence Cardinal Ouellet, Prefect of the Congregation of Catholic Bishops. Bishop Poitras will travel to Rome to celebrate this event. May 30: Meeting on Sacramental Ministry at the Diocesan Center, Timmins May 31: Bishop Poitras presides a mass at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix in Timmins for the graduates of École secondaire catholique Thériault. June 4 Greetings from O'Gorman High School! The graduates selected to receive the Diocese of Timmins Bursaries are Stephanie Mohammed and Kyle Andrews. Stephanie will be returning to O'Gorman. In the future, she plans to pursue post-secondary studies to become a midwife. Kyle will be attending Northern College where he is enrolled in an Electrical Engineering Technology program. In the future, he hopes to open his own business.

Eucharistic celebration at the Cathedral will be at 7:00 pm June 17: Eucharistic celebration, banquet and activities taking place on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Saint John the Baptist Parish in Earlton. Bishop Poitras will preside the Eucharist celebration. Easter Sunday - Bishop Poitras will preside the celebrations at the Cathedral in Timmins April 6 to 14 - Bishop Poitras, as a member of the committee of the Conference of French Bishops of Liturgical Translation (CEFTL) will travel to Monaco to pursue the work started to hopefully achieve a unique translation that joins the rest of the francophones. April 21 - Recollection Day at Assomption Parish, Kirkland Lake. All are invited. April 22 - Recognition Dinner for Clergy organized by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus held at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Parish in Timmins. 6 Obituary of Monseigneur Jacques Landriault Bishop Emeritus of Timmins ( ) It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bishop Jacques Landriault, Bishop of the Diocese of Timmins from 1971 to Bishop Jacques Landriault was born in Alfred, Ontario on September 23, 1921, the youngest son of a family of 11 children, of the late Amédée Landriault and the late Marie-Louise Brisebois. He attended his first years of high school at the Montfort Fathers in Papineauville, and his classical studies at the University of Ottawa where he obtained his B.A. He entered Saint Paul University Seminary in Ottawa, where he obtained a B.A. in Philosophy and a Bachelor's degree in Theology. Ordained to the priesthood on February 9, 1947, Bishop Landriault was appointed Associate Pastor at Notre-Dame-de-la-Protection Parish in Noranda, for 6 years, and later became Associate Pastor at the parish in Malartic. In July 1953 he was appointed Chancellor of the Diocese of Timmins with residency in Haileybury. On July 25, 1962, in St. Finnan Cathedral, he was ordained Titular Bishop of Cadi and Auxiliary of the Diocese of Alexandria. In addition he was appointed Vicar General of this Diocese and pastor of the Sacred Heart Parish of Alexandria. From 1962 to 1964, Bishop Landriault participated in the second and third sessions of the Second Vatican Council in Rome. On May 27, 1964, he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Hearst, where he served for 7 years. On March 30, 1971, Bishop Landriault was appointed Bishop of Timmins while remaining Administrator of the Diocese of Hearst until In November 1975, Bishop Landriault moved the Bishop s Office and Residence from Haileybury to Timmins where he remained until his retirement on December 13, Bishop Jacques Landriault is recognized as a passionate leader, initiator of renewal in the Church of Timmins and precursor of the formation of the laity.

7 In addition to the diocesan family, he is also mourned by many friends as well as nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers Aurèle, Charlemagne, Gaston, Rolland, Vincent, Benoît and his sisters Yvette, Thérèse, Georgette and Madeleine. The first funeral, presided by His Exc. The Most Rev. Terrence Prendergast, Metropolitan Archbishop of Ottawa, will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at noon in Notre Dame Cathedral, on Sussex Street; the remains will be exposed at the same place from 10:00 a.m. the same day. The Most Rev. Paul-André Durocher, Archbishop of Gatineau and originally a priest of Timmins, will preach the homily. The second funeral, presided by His Excellency Serge Poitras, Bishop of Timmins, will take place on Saturday, November 11 at noon, at Saint Anthony of Padua Cathedral, 274-5th Avenue, Timmins. The exposition of the body will take place at the same location on Friday, November 10, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., as well as the morning of the funeral from 10:00 a.m. The Most Rev. Paul-André Durocher, Archbishop of Gatineau and originally a priest of Timmins, will preach the homily. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Maison Racine-Robert-Gauthier, 180 Montreal Road, Ottawa; and at Lessard-Stevens Funeral Home Inc. at 21 Elm Street South, Timmins.
