1 ST. DOMINIC CATHOLIC CHURCH Eucharistic Adoration Adoration will begin immediately following the 8:15 am mass on Mondays and extend continuously until 1:00 am on Wednesday mornings. The Blessed Sacrament is displayed on the altar in the chapel. Silence should be maintained in the chapel at all times. At least 2 people will be scheduled the entire time, unscheduled adorers may come at any time and stay as long as they can. Lenten Regulations Regarding Fasting and Abstinence We are called to fast on ASH WEDNESDAY and GOOD FRIDAY (if we are able) from our 18 th birthday until our 59 th birthday. Fasting means limiting ourselves to one full meal a day. The other two meals should be lighter than they normally would be. Eating between meals is to be avoided. Catholics who are 14 years old and over are required to give up meat on those days and all the Fridays of Lent as well.

Tues 7:30 pm CHRISM MASS Sacred Heart Cathedral Knoxville March 27 The Mass of Chrism is a sign of the unity and communion of the priests with their bishop and gathers the Diocesan Church to consecrate the three oils for use in each parish. The Oil of the Sick for the healing of body, mind and soul. The Oil of Catechumens for those preparing for Baptism. The Holy Chrism to anoint infants after Baptism, those to be confirmed, Bishops and Priests at their ordinations, and altars and churches at the time of their dedication. All members of our Diocese are encouraged to attend. Wed. March 28 5:30 pm Mass 6:00 pm Seder meal This is a reenactment of the traditional ritual Passover Seder meal. The tradition of annually celebrating the Passover Seder meal reflects our Jewish roots in the tradition of the Passover, which brings to life the fundamental pattern of all of scripture which is captivity, freedom and covenant. This tradition is fulfilled in Our Lord s passion, death and resurrection celebrated in our daily Mass. This ritual celebration is followed by a Parish Dinner. Sign up sheets will be available in the vestibule.

5 Thurs. Holy Thursday March 29 8:15 am Morning Prayer 7:00 pm Mass of the Lord s Supper Holy Thursday is when we celebrate the institution of the Eucharist at Our Lord s Last Supper. This includes the annual washing of the feet which reminds us of the need for humility and the call to serve just as Christ served. Good Friday March 30 8:15 am Morning Prayer 7:00 pm Celebration of the Lord s Passion Tenebrae will take place 20 minutes after the conclusion of the Good Friday service Veneration of the Cross Holy Communion (Special Collection for the Holy Land) This collection assists in the care and maintenance of Holy Sites. Your support is appreciated. March 31 April 1 8:00am Holy Saturday The Church waits at the Lord s tomb, meditating on his suffering and death. The altar is left bare and the sacrifice of the Mass is not celebrated. Only after the solemn vigil during the night, held in anticipation of the resurrection, does the Easter celebration begin with a spirit of joy that overflows into the following period of fifty days. 8:15 am Morning Prayer There will be NO confessions NOR 5:30 pm Mass today. 8:15 pm Easter Vigil Easter Sunday Masses (Diocesan Seminarian Education) This Fall, we expect to have 11 men enrolled in seminarian studies. The cost of educating just one seminarian is about $45,000. Your investment in the future of the priesthood is one that will help guarantee the growth of the Catholic faith in East Tennessee. Please be generous in supporting our Diocesan Seminarians in their formation as they endeavor through the grace of God to become your future priests. 9:30 am 12:30 pm Bilingual 5:30 pm
