Again this year, IC's St. Vincent de Paul Society is sponsoring a gift program for two organizations: the students of St. Mary of the Lake, our sharing parish in Uptown, and elderly clients of Marillac St. Vincent Family Services. Most of the nearly 300 St. Mary students are from working families that have immigrated from Africa, Mexico and Vietnam. With a poverty rate of about 95%, this school operates through the generosity of the Big Shoulders Fund ( and many volunteers. Marillac St. Vincent, an agency of the Daughters of Charity, serves lowincome, isolated and mobility-limited senior citizens on the North Side. Next weekend at all Masses, name slips, gift ideas and more information will be available at the back of church. Please support these wonderful Catholic organizations that do so much for so many. 4 Please be generous in this week s second collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In the United States, one in six people lives in poverty. With this collection you support programs that address the causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for those who are struggling across the country. In addition, 25 percent of funds collected remains in our diocese to fund local anti-poverty projects. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collection and work on the margins. More information about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development can be found at IMMACULATE CONCEPTION NOVENA Our Novena to Our Lady, The Immaculate Conception, our parish s patroness, will begin on Thursday, November 30th, and will continue daily through December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. It will be prayed after the 8:30 A.M. Mass, except for, the following 2 days: Sunday, December 3rd, when we pray after the 11:15 A.M. Mass and after the 9:00 A.M. Mass on the feast day, December 8th. The novena prayers will last for approximately ½ hour. Please Note: Because of our Novena, there will be 8:30 A.M. Mass on Saturday, December 2 with the Novena prayers immediately following. The Parish Office will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th. Please join us in honoring Our parish Patroness through this very special devotion. 40 Days For Life 2017 From Wednesday, September 27th through Sunday, November 5th, we celebrated The 40 Days For Life Chicago Campaign - 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion. The two parishes of Immaculate Conception and St. Monica joined together for their day of prayer on October 22, Each parish volunteered for 6 hours on that day. Nationwide, it was one of the most successful 40 Days For Life. We would like to thank all those that participated from both parishes. Please continue to pray for an end to abortion.
