Thank you. ~Diocese of Steubenville Year of Mercy Holy Doors~ There are two designated Holy Doors in the Diocese of Steubenville for the Year of Mercy. The first one is located at Franciscan University, and is the main interior door of Christ the King Chapel. The Holy Door, or porta sancta, has been used since the 15th century as a ritual expression of conversion. Pilgrims and penitents pass through it as a gesture of leaving the past behind and crossing the threshold from sin to grace, from slavery to freedom, and from darkness to light. Often these rituals are associated with prayer, pilgrimage, sacrifice, confession, and indulgences. Throughout the Year of Mercy, passing through the Holy Door and fulfilling the usual conditions will allow pilgrims to receive a special plenary indulgence as often as once a day. Holy Doors will remain open until the Year of Mercy concludes on November 20, The second designated Holy Door in the Diocese of Steubenville is located at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption in Marietta, Ohio. (info from: Franciscan University) ~St. Peter Church Office Hours~ The church office is open Monday Thursday, 8:30 a.m 2 p.m. It is closed on holidays. With that said, to aid our celebration in the Diocese of Steubenville, we are very pleased to provide you with a spectacular, free, resource to help parishioners, teachers, students, and other individuals in your community live out the upcoming Year of Mercy. Our diocese has worked tirelessly, in collaboration with the Diocese of Syracuse, to develop a Year of Mercy calendar. The calendar has been designed to help people know, live, and share God s mercy throughout the entire Holy Year. In order to impact as many individuals as possible, this well devised calendar will be available both in print and electronic form. Additionally, individuals will have the option to sign up for daily reminders and messages that will be distributed using social media, and text. The calendar has been thoughtfully constructed to enrich the experience of the Jubilee Year of Mercy and includes a tremendous amount of information and inspiration. Every jubilee and significant event from the Vatican calendar is included. Each week references paragraphs from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Each day of the week is marked for a specific significance. With that said, this calendar has not been designed to replace the other calendars given out at each parish. Additionally, we have compiled many other resources for the Jubilee Year of Mercy, both those referenced in the calendar and those not, to aid people as they journey through the Holy Year. For electronic copies, resources and to sign up for daily reminders, please visit and be sure to follow us on (Calendars may be picked up in the back of church) From: Alyson Radford, Diocese of Steubenville Office of Faith Formation
