3 Saint Peters Catholic Church COR~US~CHRIST Procession ec Parish Picnic Sunday -June 18th 2017 Corpus Christl has traditionally been celebrated with a solemn procession of the Most Blessed Sacrament since the XIV century. The procession is a means for the faithful to give honor and praise to the Lord Jesus for sharing with us His presence in the Most Blessed Sacrament Saint Peters Parish Picnic Sunday June 18th at: 12:30 PM All Are Welcome I Saint Peters Knights of Columbus invite all parishioners and friends to join the parish in this most reverent procession and then to join us for our Parish Picnic at the church directly after the Corpus Christi Procession. The Knights will supply meats, drinks, and condiments We encourage each family attending to bring a covered dish or desert to share with all. To prepare for our June 18 Corpus Christi Sunday picnic, Dave Reidel, Tom Woolman and John Hagarty scraped and freshly painted picnic tables for the parish's dining pleasure. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: 'The more prosperous nations are obliged, to the extent they are able, to welcome the foreigner in search of the security and the means of livelihood which he cannot find in his country of origin... Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens" (2241). Not every individual American is prosperous, but our nation is indeed among the most prosperous in the world, and so we are called not to keep our blessings to ourselves, but to share our goods with our brothers and sisters. HELP THE KNIGHT'S SUPPORT KOVAR AND SPECIAL OLYMPICS The Parish Knights of Columbus Council is raising money to support KOVAR and Virginia Special Olympics. In lieu of the traditional selling of Tootsie Rolls, we are going to use the funds donated in the Poor Box from now through Corpus Christi Sunday (May 28, june 4, june 11, and june 18) to support their fundraising effort. KOVAR is a Virginia Knights of Columbus Charity which serves Virginians with intellectual disabilities. KOVAR was started in 1971 and has distributed over $14M in grants and $3.5M in interest free loans. Virginia Special Olympics supports over 27,000 athletes and over 2,500 competitions.
