We had a great turnout for the service and meeting, elected four new vestry members and one new trustee, then moved into the parish hall to be served a wonderful lunch by our own EYC. Congratulations to our new vestry members: Mary White, Gil Self, Kathryn Keith, and Katherine Goebel; and to our newest trustee, Paul Wallace. At our brief vestry meeting following lunch, we elected Scott Townsend as Senior Warden, Mark Grisham as Junior Warden, Gayle Ozbirn as Treasurer, and Matthew Gruber as Clerk of the Vestry. I am especially thankful to Jessie for providing children s activities and to Simon and the EYC (and parents) for providing lunch, to all who donated to help support our EYC, and to Lauren for her help in collecting reports and providing the agenda and ballots. Again, to all who helped make this day great, thank you. I am looking forward to all we will do together in Diocesan Convention News The 188th Convention of the Diocese of Alabama will meet this Friday-Sunday, February 8-10 at Camp McDowell. The theme this year is The earth is the Lord s for he made it: Come let us adore him. It is year three of our three-year study of Evangelism, Reconciliation, and Creation, which are the initiatives of our Presiding Bishop, the Most Rev. Michael Curry. While there we will elect new members to the Diocesan Council, Standing Committee, and Disciplinary Board. Our delegates this year are Elizabeth Gruber, Matthew Gruber, Noel Beck, and Simon Vandagriff. Our alternate is Jessie Stracener, who will also be overseeing children s activities during convention. Also, our Diocesan Youth Department will be hosting their annual High lock-in at Lower Camp. Thank you to all of our delegates for taking the time to be a part of the convention and for your commitment to our ministry in the diocese.
