OPENING OF THE 2018 MASS BOOK The 2018 Mass Book will open on the weekend of Saturday, October 14th and Sunday, October 15th from 9:00AM - 12:00PM in Fr. Anthony Hall. In order to make sure that everyone has a fair opportunity to select Masses on their desired dates, we are restricting parishioner s to FOUR MASSES EACH on the first weekend. Additional Mass requests may be made after the first weekend is completed. Circolo Italiano formerly of Saint Ursula Come join the members of the Italian Club on a trip to The National Shrine of St. Gerard Maiella, in New Jersey. 7 St. Ann s Parish 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time October 1, 2017 Could anyone have asked for more perfect weather for our annual parish picnic last Saturday? God was indeed smiling on us as he gave us a totally cloudless day! We had another great celebration! While the crowd was smaller than normal, as I understand there were several other activities that day that were competing for our attention, the excitement was just as big, especially for our Seventh Annual Family Feud Softball Game. The teens came on strong in the first inning, keeping the adults scoreless while they scored four runs, but in the top of the 2 nd inning, your pastor got things going for the adults with a lead-off double, and scoring the first run of six for the adults. The teens battled hard and made some great plays in the field to keep thigs close. But in the 5 th inning, the adults connected for 12 runs and created a deficit from which the teens could not recover. The final score was in favor of the adults. The adults now lead 5 games to 2 in our annual competition. Next year, let s get a lot more teens out to help them! I am most thankful for the work of the Father DiFalco Council Knights of Columbus for their hard work in setting up and cooking our food for the day. We couldn t had had a great picnic without them! Special thanks as well go out to Steve and Grace Macri of Midland Pizza for their generous help with the food, to Marianne Ricelli, who solicited gift cards from several local merchants for our smaller raffle, and to Colleen Hogan for coordinating sellers for the raffle every Sunday after Mass since June. Oh, and by the way, I guess you want to know who won the raffle! It was won by Christine Dodge, who purchased her ticket from Grace Macri. She received a grand total of $6,975! We invite everyone to come and have your pets blessed through the intercession of St. Francis of Assisi. His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, will celebrate the Annual Red Mass for the Judiciary, Attorneys, and Members of Law Enforcement and their families on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 6:00PM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 148 Hamilton Avenue, White Plains, New York. The Red Mass is sponsored by the Catholic Lawyer s Guild of the Archdiocese of New York and is a solemn religious ceremony asking God to guide the legal profession toward the administration of justice. The custom dates back to Europe in the 13 th Century. In the United States, the practice was instituted by the Catholic Lawyers Guild in the New York Archdiocese in Following the Mass, there will be a reception in the auditorium of St. John the Evangelist School located next to the Church.
