5 GARDENERS IN OUR MIDST Saint Mark s Parish Prayer List August 2014 Pray for our church: Katharine, our Presiding Bishop; Jon, Diane and Mary, our Bishops; The Priests who serve our Parish. Pray for our Partner Church and School and its Priest in Haiti: Ste. Marguerite s and Pere Wisnel. Pray for those in active military service: Bianca Edwards, Ben Soifer, Aaron Granger, Henry Carnevale, TSgt Wesley Walker, Commander Michael Kearns. Pray for those living with chronic conditions: Rosella and Jacob Rutt, Peggy Taylor, Millie Paradiso, Dorothy Ledge, Mary and Meg Elgin, Merril Somerville, Barbara Ebert, Howard Anderson, Kim Pollard, Dargin Springfield, Sylvester Scott, Edward Bailey III, Evie Thurber. Home gardener Joanne Morse has enjoyed her garden for more than 35 years and over that time has raised a wide variety of edibles: tomatoes, potatoes, lettuces, peppers, greens, kale, to name a few. Her fruit trees provide her family with oranges, cherries, plums, nectarines, pomegranates and apples. Especially the apples. When Joanne talks about her Dorset apple tree her eyes light up as if she is describing a cherished pet. Prolific! she enthuses, and so pretty in bloom and bearing its abundant fruit. Prayer is requested for Mo. Betsy, Marilyn Cova, Bob & Dotte, Barbara Schofield, Fr. Pete Berry, Lynn Marini, John Farley, Allen Painter, Coni Canino, Denise Cange, Walker family, Marleigh Reed, Hari Linda Leigh, Debi and Grady Mitchell, Angela Littlefield, Nancy Dailey, Joe West, Margie Christ, Fran Christ, Milan & Flo Krejci, Kitty Waddell, Betty Arnzen, Kelly Bennett, Russell Gracy, Julius. Pray for the departed: Joan Eddy (Mary Eddy s mother), Luther Lane (Jordana Kincey s friend), Joseph Campbell, (Alice Campbell s father). Joanne s garden is a place of calm for her. She likes getting her hands dirty, tending her 6 X 8 raised beds, planting barrel tubs and pots. She has several water features around her garden which both soothe her as she works and attract birds coming to bathe and keep her company. Completely straight-faced, Joanne says she talks to her plants and the bugs and the lizards and the birds, and loves to watch the birds cavorting in her fountains.
