Tintinabulation: Wednesday, September 4, 6:00 p.m. Youth Choir: Wednesday, September 4, 6:45 p.m. Canticle Bells: Wednesday, September 4, 7:15 p.m. Chancel Choir: Thursday, September 5, 7:00 p.m. We have been asked to provide church services at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Campbelltown on Sundays during the month of September. These services will begin at 2:00 and only need to be 30 to 45 minutes long. It can be as simple as a few hymns, scripture, and a prayer. Caring Cupboard Needs: Tuna, Chicken Noodle Soup, Canned Fruit, Ramen Noodles, Mac and Cheese, Rice, Canned Tomatoes (whole, diced, crushed, stewed, sauce, paste), Cream Soups (chicken, mushroom, celery, potato), Ready to Serve Soups (Healthy Choice, Progresso, Campbell s, Store Brand), Canned Pasta with or without meat, Chick Peas or Garbanzo Beans, Canned Spinach & Lima Beans, Canned Meats Drop-off hours are Mondays: 9-11 a.m. and 2-6 p.m., Wednesdays: 9 a.m. - noon and 5:30-7 p.m., Fridays: 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Comings & Goings! Congratulations Katie Schrekengast! Last week Katie Schreckengast participated in the Miss America s Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando, FL and earned the Non- Finalist Interview Award, Non-Finalist Evening Wear and On- Stage Question Award, and the Community Service Award for raising the most money for the Children s Miracle Network. She was also awarded the Bronze Medal for the Duke of Edinburgh Award and was one of the finalists for the Teens In Action award, which is based on her work with the Caring Cupboard and the National Hunger Prevention organization, No Kid Hungry. Way to go, Katie!! Help is needed to clean basement windows on Saturday, September 7, from 9:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Please bring any supplies you might use. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Ecycle1st will host an electronics recycling event and bake sale on September 15, from 12:00-4:00 p.m., at the Unity Church. 4 Welcome back everyone! On Sunday, September 8, come and celebrate the return of folks from their summer trips, travels and activities. Join us in the Fellowship Hall directly following the 10:30 a.m. service for a soup and salad lunch served by the Youth. Come and taste some of the recipes that will be available this winter through the Youth s Gifts in a Jar fundraiser! We will be auctioning off soup bowls painted by our Senior High Youth. All donations benefit the Youth Fund. Candidate for Director of Young Adult Ministries Announced! The Board has affirmed the call to Rachel Witkovsky as our Director of Young Adult Ministries. Our Young Adults and congregation had an opportunity to meet her on Saturday, August 24. A congregational vote to affirm Rachel will be taken at the beginning of both worship services this morning. Rachel s bio, position description, and compensation package are available outside of the office. What kind of worshipping community shall we become? On June 18, the Church Board unanimously affirmed the following recommendations from the Worship Team: Worship planners to begin designing worship experiences at both the 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services that are multigenerational, contain variety and experimentation, and to allow conversation regarding worship to happen. Worship Team to host two Town Hall Meetings for a time of discussion and discernment. Saturday, September 14, 9:00 a.m., in the Gathering Place (past the chapel and parlor) Sunday, October 13, 2:00 p.m., in the Gathering Place. A Congregational Council Meeting will be called on November 3 to vote whether we will be a congregation that has a single worship experience or multiple worship experiences. You are encouraged to participate in the on-going conversation and attend the Town Hall meetings. 8:00 A.M.
