3 The 2013 Flower sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board by the church office entrance. Please sign up for the week and/or weeks that you would like to donate the flowers. Everyone is reminded to close doors and turn off lights when leaving a Sunday school class or meeting. Also, please do not park in the alley on Sunday mornings. This is a public access road and parking on it hinders access to the sidewalk for individuals parking on the north parking lot. Thank you! Acolytes needed: Worship Team is looking for individuals to serve on an inter-generational acolyte team for the 10:30 a.m. service in Acolytes enter with the light of Christ to light the candles on the communion table at the beginning of the service and take the light of Christ out of the sanctuary at the end of the service. Attention Sunday school classes and team chairs! Please have your new organizational information for the 2013 year to the office no later than January 15. Table Talk beginning! Join for breakfast on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m. at Funck's Restaurant. We will enjoy a nice meal together (Dutch treat) and good table conversation. Each month will share some devotional thoughts, give a report on things happening in the church, and open the floor for conversation, questions and the sharing of ideas. We will conclude each gathering with the sharing of prayer concerns and a time of prayer together. Our first gathering will be on Thursday, January 24th. RSVP to the church office or register on our website (Announcements follow prompts). See you there! Bread and Cup Communion will be celebrated today during both worship services. Come, renew your faith and receive the blessings of the Lord s Supper as we begin another year of faithful living for Christ! 2013 offering envelopes have been placed in the church mailboxes. If you do not live in the local area, your envelopes will be mailed to you. If you live in the local area and do not have a church mailbox, please pick up your envelopes in the church office at your convenience. If you are not currently on the list to receive envelopes and wish to use envelopes, please contact Carol Grace. Wendy s night is January 16! Come anytime between 5:00 8:00 p.m. and 10% of all sales will go to support the Youth Fundraising Fund. The staff is working on the 2013 directory. The chairpersons are responsible for submitting their 2012 year-end report no later than January 31, The speakers under the back balcony are not always working. To avoid a possible interruption of amplification during the service, you may want to sit out from underneath the balcony until we have determined the problem with the speakers. 4 In-depth Study! The year: A Bedouin shepherd tracks one of his stray goats into a cave mouth above the shore of the Dead Sea at a desolate place named Qumran. Inside, he discovers a pair of tall, thin clay pots. And what he finds when he opens those pots will be nothing less than the greatest archaeological discovery of the 20th century: the Dead Sea Scrolls. You are invited to join with a study group at Camp Swatara for a weekend of learning about this fascinating discovery. The weekend will be based on a DVD course presented by Professor Gary Rendsburg of Rutgers University with discussion led by Terry Baker and Tim Haldeman. Dr. Rendsburg has spent decades immersed in the exploration and study of Qumran and other ancient sites, and is an expert in the history of ancient Israel and the literature of the Bible. The weekend group will gather Friday, February 1, at 7:00 p.m. and conclude with lunch on Sunday, February 3. All are welcome to participate. Properties Team has moved the old picnic tables and benches from the Pine Woods lodge interior to the front porch. These tables and benches are free for the taking. Do not take anything from the pavilion! Join in our discussion! The New Beginnings class is discussing some of the challenges and opportunities PCOB faces as we live out our newly adopted mission statement. You are welcome and encouraged to participate with us as we think about how we "live and serve in the way of Jesus." This Sunday's topic is our vital ministry; what is it that we are inviting & welcoming people to? Next week we will discuss how our organizational structure is (or is not) empowering our mission. Through the years, Palmyra COB has been recording our church services on reel-toreel tape, cassette tape, and presently on CD. We have almost every service since the 1950s somewhere in the Amplification Room. If anyone would be interested in obtaining or preserving any of these recordings prior to disposal, please contact Dennis Shaak at dshaak@gmail.com. LVBH News: Lunch N Learn: On January 17, Joel Ario will present The Election Is Over, Now What? at 12 noon. The Jonestown s Men s Choir will present a musical program in the DiMatteo Worship Center on January 20, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. There will be a freewill offering. The offering is used to make things more comfortable for the residents in Health Care. It is time to renew your membership in the LVBH Auxiliary or become a new member of the LVBH Auxiliary. The annual dues are a donation of at least $3.00. Life memberships are available for $ Alice Ruth Gingrich will be glad to receive your dues during the month of January.

7 Everyone, Mark your Calendars For the Annual Hearts Party! The annual Hearts Party will be on Saturday, February 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall. The evening centers around a Yahtzee-type game, where the cubes are each marked with the letters H-E- A-R-T-S. As you move around the room, from table to table, you re sure to get to know lots of people. All generations are welcome. Skill and booby prizes are awarded. Snacks and desserts are plentiful.
