Help us, through our offering this day, to renounce all things that draw us from your love. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Great Thanksgiving Eucharistic Prayer 1 The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. It is indeed right that we should praise you, gracious God, for you created all things. You formed us in your own image: male and female you created us. When we turned away from you in sin, you did not cease to care for us, but opened a path of salvation for all people. You made a covenant with Israel, and through your servants Abraham and Sarah gave the promise of a blessing to all nations. Through Moses you led your people from bondage into freedom; through the prophets you renewed your promise of salvation. Therefore, with them, and with all your saints who have served you in every age, we give thanks and raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your name. 6

In the fullness of time, you sent your Son Jesus Christ, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all. He healed the sick and ate and drank with outcasts and sinners; he opened the eyes of the blind and proclaimed the good news of your kingdom to the poor and to those in need. In all things he fulfilled your gracious will. On the night he freely gave himself to death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, Take, eat: this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, Drink this, all of you: this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me. All Gracious God, his perfect sacrifice destroys the power of sin and death; by raising him to life you give us life for evermore. Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith. Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. 7

8 All Silence Recalling his death, proclaiming his resurrection, and looking for his coming again in glory, we offer you, Father, this bread and this cup. Send your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these gifts, that all who eat and drink at this table may be one body and one holy people, a living sacrifice in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours, almighty Father, now and for ever. Amen. As our Saviour taught us, let us pray, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. The Breaking of the Bread All We break the bread of life, and that life is the light of the world. God here among us, light in the midst of us, bring us to light and life. The gifts of God for the of God. Thanks be to God. All are welcome to receive the sacrament or a blessing. If you wish to receive the sacrament, you may receive the wafer alone or the wafer with wine from the chalice. Please refrain from intinction (dipping the wafer in the cup). 8

YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS This afternoon, St. Luke's youth group is hosting a Crafternoon. This is an all ages event. Bring your grand/children! We will be making crafts to sell at the Christmas market: elves, snowflakes, Christmas trees, and many other things. We have crafts for all ages and skills. We will also be decorating (and eating!) cookies. Event happens 3-5pm in the Great Hall. Starting on Sunday, Dec. 2nd, St. Luke's youth group will be volunteering once per month with Maple Villa, a long term care residence just down the street from the church. We strongly encourage anyone who is interested to join us, and to bring your children and grandchildren of all ages. We will meet at St. Luke's (at the entrance of the Great Hall) and walk over to Maple Villa at 6:30pm. 11 NEW PARISH DIRECTORY We will be printing a new parish directory in Pictures will be taken during the months of January, February and March. On November 25, and December 2, 9, & 16th you will have the opportunity to sign up for a date and time for your picture session. Appointments can be booked in the Narthex after the 8:15 service, and in the Great Hall during coffee hour. If you would like more information, please contact Veronica Richards-Miller at MAGICAL Music at St. Luke s invites you to revel in the spirit of Christmas with the beautiful sounds of SOLO, the Southern Ontario Lyric Opera, on Dec. 8 in the Parish Hall. The chorus and soloists will present a ravishing evening of passion, tragedy and excitement with favourite arias, Broadway standards and Christmas carols. Tickets are $35. which includes a delicious catered dinner. 6 p.m or hlennard@cogeco.ca 2019 DONATION ENVELOPES are available for pick up in the Great Hall on Sunday mornings and during regular office hours. Please note that your number may be different from last year. Calling all instrumentalists! Whether a hobby, a side-venture, or a career, we welcome all of you who play instruments to consider lending your talents to our worship services. Our services are all safe and enjoyable places to share your gifts with your fellow parishioners. If you are nervous about playing on your own, we already have a small group of instrumentalists that can lend their musical support. PWRDF Gift Catalogue & Christmas cards If you are looking for Christmas gift ideas it would be good to check out PWRDF s World of Gifts guide. Last year, 8,473 items were purchased from PWRDF s 2017 World of Gifts guide, raising $403,000 for PWRDF projects around the world. Gifts were purchased by 2,312 individuals (753 for the first time) and 164 churches (16 for the first time) with goats again coming in as their top seller for the second year in a row. In past years we have sold PWRDF's Christmas cards but the selection is limited this year. We suggest that you go to the website to make your selection. 11

It ll look like a slow-motion horse race which will last all year! Here are our current numbers as of Nov. 11th. Each week, the budget for givings is $7, Budget Actual Difference Last Week $7, $9, $1, Year to Date $352, $347, $5, Another great week in our horse race. Great job, everyone! In last week s givings I also included what came in last week for our 184th anniversary donations. This fortunately pushed us even further into the black for this week s givings dropping our current deficit for the 2018 givings line to just under $5,500. We re really working our way toward achieving our budget for givings! We do hope that many more will still consider giving a special gift of $184 to celebrate our 184 years as a parish, and to mark all that St. Luke s means to you. If you cannot give the whole $184, could you consider giving half ($92) or a quarter ($46?) However you give, we thank you for your support so far and for your continued commitment to the ministry and mission of St. Luke s through your financial support, your prayers, and the giving of your time and yourself. May God bless all we are able to accomplish in 2018 through your support. 13
