Pray the Psalms or the Liturgy of the Hours Whether you are praising, giving thanks, asking for forgiveness or seeking an answer you'll find an appropriate psalm. The ancient prayer of the Church called the Liturgy of the Hours is an excellent way to pray through the Book of Psalms throughout the year. 2. Recite the Jesus Prayer Say Lord Jesus, have mercy on me, a sinner repeatedly as you quiet your heart and mind. 3. Meditate using Scripture Choose a passage from the Bible. Read the words and ask God to let the passage speak to you. Pay special attention to anything that strikes you and ask God what he wishes for yu to draw from that passage. In the Garden of Gethsemani, before His crucifixion, Jesus asked His Apostles, Could you not keep watch with me for one hour? Spending one hour with Jesus thus became a tradition in the Church. Every First Friday of the month we will begin Devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 5:30 p.m. Third Sunday of Advent In today s Gospel John the Baptist says, I am the voice of one crying in the desert; make straight the way of the Lord. Let us ask for the grace to help others to know the love of the Lord. Christmas is a time of love and gift giving please give to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that those who do not have clothes and food can share in the blessings of Christmas.

Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 from 1-5 p.m. And Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 from 10 am to 12 pm If you can help either or both days please call Grace at ex. 213 Our Daily Bread Thanks to your generous donations year to date we have made and distributed 36,660 sandwiches. Since the inception of Our Daily Bread 118,493 sandwiches have gone to feed those in need. We are in need of peanut butter and canned chicken. You may drop your donation at the parish center.
