As I write this, I am reflecting on the truths of God, particularly with regard to His care for His children. We see His concern throughout the Bible but what quickly comes to mind is the Exodus.

When they were hungry, He fed them manna. When they were hungry for something else, He fed them quail. God was there even before the Israelites needs were vocalized.

2 As I write this, I am reflecting on the truths of God, particularly with regard to His care for His children. We see His concern throughout the Bible but what quickly comes to mind is the Exodus. There was not a point in the journey which was absent from God s presence and care. When it was night, He led them by fire. When it was day, He led them by a cloud. When they were hungry, He fed them manna. When they were hungry for something else, He fed them quail. God was there even before the Israelites needs were vocalized. From the beginning God was there and concerned for them(see Exodus 3:9). I have a few questions for you to think about: Are you more aware of the presence of God when you receive something (as the Israelites were)? Are you only seeking out God when all else has failed (again, see Exodus)? As difficult as these questions might be, they show our own faithless and selfish tendencies at times. Praise be to God, who knew in advance how we would address Him or not, yet still showers us with love and grace. God is present and God cares. He tells this to Moses. Jesus reminds us of this in Matthew. God is present! This may be so simple to say or read, but its meaning is lost in our faithlessness. Still, God is present and He cares. Colossians 1 says He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Let loose of the straw that we cling to for false hope and rest in the surrender of God s presence and care. It is available today. Shiloh just turned one, and for the first time I have been able to accurately understand and say, They grow up so fast.

4 Worth & Purpose the dwelling place of Almighty God through the Holy Spirit. Greetings, This has been a big month for my family. In February we celebrated Lindsey s birthday, Shiloh s birthday and Sabrina s birthday. Shiloh just turned one, and for the first time I have been able to accurately understand and say, They grow up so fast. His birthday was a day of many thoughts and emotions as our family grows another year older. However, I could not escape the overwhelming awareness of how we are created with such purpose. I look at my son as he is learning to react to the world around him. He is learning how to walk, how to communicate, and how to be in relationship those around him. Yet in all he is learning to do, I cannot help but frame his existence in the larger purpose for which he was created - to be What a brilliantly unfathomable reality. Such a fragile, helpless boy was created to hold the presence of God! This is the truth over each one of us. It is of such value God sent His Son to be the price paid for you and I to enter into this reality. We must not get trapped into determining the worth of our existence based on what the world says about us. After all, we were not created in the image of our earthly fathers but in the image of our Heavenly Father. He is the author, He is the creator, and in Him is where we must find identity and purpose. Context is such an important piece of every story. Without context, we have no place to frame the story. Our lives are framed within the context of a spiritual battle (Eph. 6) and we must begin to see ourselves as warriors in the battle. We were created to bring glory, honor, and praise to God by allowing HIS life to flow out of us by our obedience to the Holy Spirit. I pray we will begin to see ourselves within the framework of the eternal and not the temporary. I pray we would see ourselves the way God sees us and stop being bound by the thoughts and opinions of this world. Find your worth by looking at the Father. Kendall McDonald College Pastor Shalom.

6 Love is a Choice - Not a Feeling. A. LOVE B. LOVE C. LOVE D. LOVE In society we are taught about the fairy tale stories of how Prince Charming and the Princess fall in love with each other and live happily ever after. This falsehood has been portrayed to our youth so often that one of their biggest fears is that they will never fall in love. In searching for this love they fall into the trap of lust and they mistake lust for love. I believe that this is one of the big reasons for teen pregnancy and the high divorce rate. Love is a choice not a feeling. It doesn t just happen you have to choose to love people. God didn t fall in love with us. He chose us. He chose to send His son. He chose to love us so much that He will stop at nothing to draw us back to him. Ephesians 1: 4-5 even as he chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, He chose to love us. His love is not based on how good we look or how we act. Truth be known that if He did base His love off of how we acted and looked He would not love us. God chooses to love us, therefore we must choose to love others. 1John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. Scripture makes it clear that love His love is based on His choice to love us. I believe that if christians went back to the real meaning of love - that we chose to love people because He loved first - then people would see that christians really are different from the rest of the world.
