The calling of Moses points to a greater calling and rescue the call of Jesus to come to earth to save God s people from sin. Moses was chosen by God to help deliver God s people out of Egypt. When God s people cried out to God, He responded and miraculously rescued them from physical captivity. Jesus was a greater Deliverer because He rescued God s people from captivity to sin. Help your children connect the Exodus back to Joseph bringing His family into Egypt and forward to Jesus rescuing God s people from sin. 4 Unit 4, Session 2: The Plagues, the Passover, and the Crossing of the Red Sea TWEETS At Passover, God spared Israel by the blood of a lamb. Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. #thegospelprojectkids ( Christ Connection 138 Characters) God delivered the Israelites through a series of plagues and spared the firstborn sons from death at Passover. #thegospelprojectkids ( Content 133 Characters) STATUS UPDATE At Passover, God spared the Israelites from judgment by requiring the blood of a lamb. Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, and God provided a way for them to escape through the Red Sea. The Bible says that Jesus is greater than Moses. (Hebrews 3:3) Jesus is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. People who trust in Jesus escape the penalty of sin and have eternal life. God used plagues to show Pharaoh and the Egyptian people that He alone is God. God graciously spared the Israelites from the final plague when they trusted in Him and put the blood of a lamb around their doors. God spared Israel by the blood of a lamb, but Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Help your kids understand that God s salvation of His people is always by grace through faith and remind them of their need for Jesus to forgive them of their sin. 6 Unit 4, Session 3: The Wilderness Test TWEETS God provided manna for His people s physical hunger, and later He provided His Son, Jesus, for our spiritual hunger. #thegospelprojectkids ( Christ Connection 138 Characters) When Israel became hungry and grumbled in the wilderness, God graciously gave them manna from heaven to eat. #thegospelprojectkids ( Content 130 Characters) STATUS UPDATE In the New Testament, Jesus said that He is the Bread of life. (John 6:31 35) God provided manna from heaven for His people s physical hunger, and later He provided His Son, Jesus, for our spiritual hunger. The Israelites needed bread to live for a little while, but whoever has Jesus will live forever! E MAIL Unit 4, Session 3: The Wilderness Test Dear Parents, This week, we continued our journey through the Bible using The Gospel Project for Kids and learned that God provided food and water for His people as they wandered in the wilderness. When Israel became hungry and thirsty, they grumbled about Moses and God, and God graciously provided for them even though they did not deserve it. In the same way that God provided for Israel s physical need, God provides for the spiritual need of people through Jesus. Help your kids understand that God is gracious and He freely gives what we need including Jesus not because of anything they have done but because of God s goodness. 8 Unit 4, Session 4: The Golden Calf TWEETS God s people sinned against God, and Moses acted as their mediator with God. Moses acted as their mediator, standing for them before God. Moses could not do anything to make up for their sin, but we have a better Mediator Jesus. Jesus paid for our sin on the cross and stands for us before God. When we trust in Jesus, our sins are forgiven. During that time, the people rebelled against the one true God and asked Aaron to make a golden calf to be their god. When God became angry, Moses interceded on their behalf. 10 Unit 4, Session 5: The Ten Commandments: Love God TWEETS God is holy and separate from sin. Our sin separates us from God, but Jesus came to bring us back to God. #thegospelprojectkids ( Christ Connection 127 Characters) God gave the 10 Commandments to show He is holy and we are sinners. These commands were given by God through Moses to teach His people how to love and worship Him. God demands perfect obedience, something none of us can do. And that s the point of the law: to show us of our need for another way to be right with God, a way found only in Jesus. Help your kids understand that God is holy and expects us to be holy as well.
