1 Building Kingdom Families: The following sets of questions have been designed to help you evaluate your family s condition based on the information that you have just studied. Husbands and wives should respond to these questions separately and then discuss their responses with each other. Singles may also complete this assessment and use it as a guide in preparation for marriage and the establishment of a Kingdom Family. To be an effective tool for helping you build a Kingdom Family, when completing this exercise, there are several points that must be remembered: Each person must answer each question honestly. There is no passing or failing grade. This exercise is not intended to cause you guilt over the past but allow you to understand the condition of your family in the present and give you direction for the future. There are no perfect families. It is never too late for God to make your family a Kingdom Family.
2 When scoring each item, rate them 5 to 1 with 5 being the highest and 1 being the lowest score. The Kingdom Family Mission Kingdom Families are families that are committed to reflect Christ-likeness and apply biblical principles in their homes in order to raise up a future generation to know, love and serve Him. Psalm 78:4 1. To what extent does your family reflect Christ-likeness in all aspects of everyday family life? 2. To what extent are you applying biblical principles in your daily lives and in the raising of your children? 3. To what extent are you striving to have every member of your family know Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior, develop a biblical worldview and develop a desire to serve Christ? Individual Spiritual Transformation 1. How consistent are you in having a daily quiet time in God s Word and prayer? 2. Do you know your main spiritual gift and to what extent are you using it to strengthen the body of Christ? 3. To what extent do you share the gospel in your everyday life? Biblical Marriage Relationships 1. How well does your marriage relationship reflect the relationship between Christ and the church In your home? In your church? In your community? 2. To what extent do you understand God s ideal for the marriage relationship found in His Word? 2
3 Reflect on the following model of a Kingdom Family when answering questions 3-7. This model illustrates that Christ is to be the foundation of a Kingdom Family. It also presents a wonderful picture of servant leadership and submission. Christ said that those who want to be great in His kingdom must serve. Husbands are to give themselves to their wives as Christ did for the church. Husbands lead by giving support to their wives. Submission is the act of resting on the support of the leader. Wives submit when they rest on their husbands servant leadership (support). Husbands must rest on Christ and His Word for the strength to give leadership to their wives and children. Children Wife Husband God s Word on the Family Jesus Christ 3. To what extent is Christ the foundation of your home? 4. To what extent is your home based on eternals rather than externals? 5. How well does the husband provide servant leadership in the marriage relationship in the following areas. Spiritually Physically Financially Emotionally Mentally Raising children 6. How well does the wife rest on her husband s leadership in the marriage relationship in the following areas. Spiritually Physically Financially Emotionally Mentally Raising children 7. To what extent do you submit to (rest on) Christ and His Word as you give leadership to the home? (only husband respond) 3
4 Biblical Parenting 1. To what extent do you see your children as homework assignments from God? 2. Does the Bible have a significant influence on how you raise your children? 3. Does the church have a significant influence on how you raise your children? 4. To what extent do you apply the biblical principles of kingdom education to the total education of your children? 5. What are the three most important goals you have for your children? Church Membership 1. How regular is your church attendance? Every Sunday morning and evening 5 Most Sunday mornings 4 At least two Sundays a month 3 Less than two Sundays a month 2 Do not attend church 1 2. To what extent are you using your spiritual gift(s) in the church? 3. To what extent are you giving to the work of the local church? 5 Lifestyle Stewardship 1. To what extent do you view everything in life as a gift from God rather than something you did or earned? 2. To what extent do you respect and protect the sanctity of human life from conception through death? 3. To what extent do you practice good stewardship of your time? 4. To what extent do you practice good stewardship of your talent? 5. To what extent do you practice good stewardship of your treasure? 5
