Key Elements of a Discipleship Program Pt. 1 Impartation of Spiritual Gifts Class Work Individualized Mentoring Biblical Discipline

Key Elements of a Discipleship Program Pt. 1 Elements (1) Value 1 Value 2 Value 3 Value 4 Imparta5on of Spiritual Gi;s The nine spiritual gi/s are not believed to be for today in every disciple s life. The nine gi/s are believed to be for today, but are not given a place in discipleship. The nine gi/s are generally taught but are not prac:cally imparted and given specific instruc:on. The nine gi/s are taught, imparted by prayer, and given specific instruc:on on how to use them. Biblical Discipline Biblical discipline is not prac:ced according to 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 or MaGhew 18: Discipline is only implemented for big problems, i.e., affairs, heresy, abuse, etc Discipline is used in every believer s life when needed. Personal correc:on, rebuke, and ul:matums are common. However, without guided plans of restora:on. Discipline is used in every believer s life when needed. Personal correc:on, rebuke, and ul:matums are common. Restora:on is a key component of the discipline. Class Work There is no formal instruc:on, thus all discipleship is organic. Formal instruc:on is given, however, the materials are not organized and are inconsistent from class to class. Formal instruc:on is given with structured and well organized material that remains consistent from class to class. Formal instruc:on is given with structured and well organized material in a consistent manner. Plus, tests and homework is given to evaluate the disciple. Individualized Mentoring There is no individualized mentoring- all the learning is in a group seung. Individual mentoring only occurs in a reac:on sense to the problems in the disciple s lives. One- on- one mentoring is only a part of one phase of the program, but is not present in all the phases. One- on- one mentoring is involved in all aspects and parts of the discipleship program and con:nues even a/er the disciple graduates the program.

Key Elements of a Discipleship Program Pt. 2 Clear Start and Finish Duplicable Key Leadership Personal Evaluation

Key Elements of a Discipleship Program Pt. 2 Elements (2) Value 1 Value 2 Value 3 Value 4 Clear Start and Finish There is no clear start and finish to discipleship. Discipleship is considered to be a mid- week service or an on going Sunday school class. The program has a clear start and finish, however, it is less than 6 months or more than 3yrs. The program has a clear start and finish within a :me frame of 6 months to 3yrs. However, it does not have systems in place for poten:al burn out. The program has a clear start and finish within a :me frame of 6 months to 3yrs. Plus, it has systems in place for poten:al burn out. Personal Evalua5on A person can graduate the program without being personally evaluated by set goals and standards. Personal evalua:on is only used in problem situa:ons. However, the non- trouble maker does get the personal agen:on. Personal evalua:ons are used, but only at the :me of gradua:on. Personal evalua:ons are used both during the program and at the :me of gradua:on for all disciples. Plus, evalua:ons con:nue post gradua:on. Duplicable The discipleship program is not duplicable because it is either only taught as a class or cannot be done by the new disciples made. The program could be duplicated, but it is not emphasized in the program to the disciples. The program can be duplicated and is emphasized to the new disciples, however, the new disciple is not required to duplicate it. The program can be duplicated and is emphasized to the new disciples, plus, the new disciple is required to duplicate it upon gradua:on. Key Leadership The program is not led by the best kind of leader the church has to offer. The leader in charge of discipleship is the best the church has to offer, but personally they are not held accountable to goals or outcomes. The best kind of leader is also accountable to goals and desired outcomes of the church. The senior pastor gives specific :me and energy to the discipleship program leader and holds him accountable to the desired outcomes and goals.

Characteristics of a Disciple Spiritually Gifted Servant Orientated Leader of Ministry Godly Character

Characteristics of a Disciple Characteris5cs Value 1 Value 2 Value 3 Value 4 Spiritually Gi;ed The nine spiritual gi/s according to 1 Corinthians 12 are not believed to be for today in the church. The nine spiritual gi/s are believed in the church, but the disciple is not held responsible to be ac:ve in them. The disciple is filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and is expected to pray in the Spirit daily. The bap:zed in the Holy Spirit disciple not only daily speaks in tongues, but eagerly desires to operate in all the gi/s of the Spirit as o/en as the Lord leads. Godly Character Disciples are only expected to avoid the big sins, such as adultery, lying, etc. However, godliness does not go into deep rooted character issues such as pride and selfish ambi:on. Disciples are not only free from obvious external sins, but they are also aware of deeper heart issues such as pride, greed, and selfish ambi:on. The disciple s godly character is evident in their tes:monies and ac:ons. They tes:fy of deliverance on a regular basis both privately and publically of daily sanc:fica:on. The disciple s godly character has a impact on his family, church, and all those around him. Others tes:fy to the good they receive from the disciple s conduct. Servant Oriented There is no expecta:on or required place for the disciple to serve. Serving in the church is an op:on, not a requirement for the disciple. The disciple is both required and expected to serve in the church both during and a/er the discipleship program. The servant disciple is both ac:ve in serving regularly in the church and is leading others in servitude. Leader of Ministry There is no expecta:on or requirement for the disciple to lead once graduated from the program. Leading in the church is an op:on, not a requirement for the disciple. The disciple is both required and expected to lead in the church both during and a/er the discipleship program. The leading disciple is both ac:ve in leading regularly in the church and is teaching others to lead.
