8 Proposed Legacy Covenant Group Calendar (primarily applies to Growth Groups) Month January February March April May June July August September October November December Activity Join/Re-start Break Break Join/Re-start Legacy Covenant Group ing Agenda - Example (primarily applies to Growth Groups) Time Focus Comments minutes Preparing the meeting space (Pre-meeting) Ensure your meeting place and resources are ready for your group to arrive minutes Welcoming and encouraging Greet everyone as they arrive, introduce visitors/new members, enjoy some snacks, then transition to a time of praying and praising minutes Praising and praying Facilitate a time of praising, thanking, and asking God for His provision for the needs of your group minutes Learning and Sharing Facilitate the group s discussion of the agreed upon topic minutes Closing and departing Share any announcements or reminders and say goodbyes minutes Reflecting (Post-meeting) Make some notes relative to the meeting (i.e. what worked and what didn t) then pray for your group. Based on the agenda above, meeting times should range from minutes, not including the leader s preparing and reflecting time. The key is to honor the agreed upon meeting start and stop times for your specific group. A longer meeting is viable as long as the group supports the approach. 6

11 Legacy Christian Church Covenants and Statement of Faith 1. Legacy Leadership Covenant The purpose of this covenant is to establish standards of conduct that promote integrity, mutual accountability, and the pursuit of excellence among the leadership team of LCC. We promise to support LCC s Statement of Faith, participate in its Leadership Community, and abide in its covenants for the purpose of unifying our efforts to glorify God. We promise to encourage and be loyal to one another. We will publicly defend and privately confront one another. We will both promote and practice the application of Matthew 18 in every situation, seeking to protect one another s family, spiritual life, and ministry. Recognizing our interdependence, we promise to be responsible and pursue excellence in the development, communication, leadership, and implementation of our ministry plans. Recognizing our biblical obligation to model lifestyle witness, we promise never to violate our personal conscience and always to be aware of the impact of our actions on others, both in the church and community. We promise to flee the appearance of evil and to limit our personal freedom for the sake of our witness and the testimony of the church. We are committed to maintaining sexual, ethical, and moral purity; therefore, we promise to avoid any and all compromising situations. 2. Legacy Membership Covenant As a member committed to pursuing the vision and mission of Legacy Christian Church, before God and with God s people, I make these covenants: 1. I will be faithful to protect the church s unity by my personal practice of Matthew 18 and submission to the biblical shepherding of the church s leadership. (Hebrews 13:17) 2. I will be faithful to participate in corporate worship. (Hebrews 10:24-25) 3. I will be faithful to pursue biblical community through the personal accountability and mutual ministry of a Legacy Covenant Group. (Acts 2:42) 4. I will be faithful to honor God and support the mission of His church through my gifts and giving. (1 Peter 4:10 & Proverbs 3:9-10) 5. I will be faithful in my personal witness for Christ and His church by practicing both lifestyle and team evangelism. (Matthew 5:16) 9
12 3. Legacy Covenant Group Covenant (example) It is important each Legacy Covenant Group (LCG) agree upon and document their shared values, expectations, and commitments. Such agreements will help avoid unspoken agendas and unmet expectations. Feel free to modify the LCG Covenant template to align with your specific group. Type of Legacy Covenant Group: (Growth/Explore/Action/Care) We agree to the following values: Fellowship Together The development of committed authentic relationships that demonstrate transparency. We will foster this through confidentiality and accountability with one another. Study God s Word Together The study of God s word using approved curriculum. Our goal is to learn God s Word, apply His truths in our lives, and be His witnesses wherever He leads us. Serve Together Each of us will participate and contribute, so that we may positively impact our group and others. Our serving can be within our group, from our group to others within Legacy, and/or from our group to others outside Legacy. Pray Together Together we will worship God and grow through group and individual prayer. Multiply Together We will strive to bring others to our group, so that they too may come to know God and serve Him as part of the Legacy biblical community. We will develop leaders so that our group can multiply and support the growth of the LCC family and God s kingdom. Everyone is encouraged to arrive a little early so we are assured of starting on time. We will give the group meetings priority, and if unable to attend or running late, we will call ahead. We also agree to the following items: When we will meet (day of week): Where we will meet (location): We will start at (time): and end at (time): Refreshments: Childcare: Other agreements/assignments (i.e. social events, service activities, prayer request distribution, etc.): Review date for this agreement: 10
13 4. Legacy Statement of Faith As an independent, non-denominational church, Legacy Christian Church believes that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God who died for our sins and arose from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8) The Bible is the inspired Word of God a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. (2 Timothy 3:16) Every person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) Forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord. (John 3:16) Those accepting Christ will repent of sin, confess their faith and be baptized into Him. (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38) The church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to save the lost and edify the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16) Jesus Christ will one day return to earth and reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). 11
