Using Bibe references, the chidren are to find different Mirace stories incuding the Cure of the Demoniac, the Heaing of the Woman with a Haemorrhage, the Heaing of the Man Born Bind, the Caming of the Storm and the Feeding of the Five Thousand. Organise the information found in chart form under various headings (e.g. Where? Who? The Probem? Resoution) Focus the chidren s attention on the words and the actions of Jesus. Were peope ony cured or heped in some way? How do you think their ives were changed by what Jesus did for them? Brainstorm ots of ideas and create a mind-map. Write an account of one of these miraces as one of the peope who was there. Set the scene, identify the probems, the actions of Jesus and the change it brought to peope s ives. R1 Observe and recognise ways in which peope of today can hear and respond to God s ca. Today, many peope of faith seek heaing from sickness. Some peope never experience this heaing. Does God no onger hear prayers and hea peope? Revise with the chidren the importance of praying for peope who are sick. Introduce the chidren to the word pigrimage. Find definitions for it from the dictionary. Identify different paces of pigrimage where Christians gather to pray and sometimes seek God s heaing. Use maps to ocate these different paces (e.g. Lourdes, Wasingham, Knock, etc.) Research the story of some of these paces and find reasons why they are important paces for Cathoics to visit. Are pigrimages just for sick peope? How can they hep the rest of us? Create a trave brochure on some paces of pigrimage saying why they are important, their ocation, their origins and reasons why peope might benefit from such a visit Incude pictures and any other pubished information. Ch5 Key images of the Church used in Scripture and Tradition. Show the chidren photographs and pictures of the Sacrament of the Sick being administered. Expore the gestures of aying on of hands and anointing with the Oi of the Sick. Why do you think these gestures might be performed? Hear the words that are said to the sick person as they are anointed with the oi on their forehead and hands: Through this hoy anointing may the Lord in his ove and mercy strengthen you by the grace of the Hoy Spirit. May the Lord who frees you from sin, save you and raise you up. Expore the meaning of these words with the chidren.
