Please join members of the parish in a Holy Hour from 3:00-4:00pm every Friday, for the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Mercy Stations of the Cross during Eucharistic Adoration. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is also prayed every morning after the 8:30 am Mass, Monday through Thursday during the school year and additionally after the 8:30 am Mass on Friday mornings during the summer months. If you cannot be present to pray with us at the parish at these times, simply join in prayer with us spiritually by briefly thinking of our Lord s Passion & Death every day at 3:00pm and especially on Friday s at 3:00pm by simply praying the words, Jesus I Trust in You. Donna Marie Stanislaw EUCHARISTIC ADORATION When we participate in the practice of perpetual adoration, we put ourselves in direct contact with the God of presence and mission. Our action as adorers pales in the face of God s action of infusing us with the spirit of the Devine Being. We are changed dramatically just by being in this living presence and being open to the action of our gracious God. We become instruments of God s peace, mercy, joy, consolation, or courage. The more we celebrate the small miracles of daily life, the more we realize the very personal action of God in our daily living. We had "standing room" only for both of these events and our students did not disappoint. It is truly a honor to serve such wonderful students and families, I count my blessings each and every day! Macdonald St. John the Evangelist Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten: As the holidays come upon us, we would like to wish all of our Preschool families a blessed and joyous holiday season. First Penance 2017 For all 2nd graders: Information for next year s Sacraments can be found on the following web page: January 7 - First Penance Parent Meeting 9:30 am OR 11:15 am in St. John's School Trinity Hall (Snow date January 14) You can pick the meeting time that best fits your schedule and attend that one (the meeting should last minutes). January 20 - First Penance Retreat 9 am - 11:30 am in St. John's School in Trinity Hall (Snow date January 27) Please drop off your children by 9am in the School's Trinity Hall. The Retreat will last about two and a half hours. C o n f i r m a t i o n Confirmation service hour opportunities are available through SignUp Genius. s will be sent to those addresses indicated on the C1-C4 forms that were turned in to the Religious Ed Office. Each candidate should try to serve about 3.5 hours each month to reach their goal. Reminder: All volunteer service hours are to be done with the understanding that one is to serve the Church, each other, and the parish community with seriousness, respect, love, and charity. The Red Cross received 48 pints of life-saving blood. Special thanks to those donors who made time in their schedules and made appointments only to be turned away due to understaffing. As frustrating as this is, please do not abandon blood drives. Every day somebody needs blood, and for now, drives are the only way to provide it. Our next drive will be on February 19 from 1 to 7 in Mercy Hall. Legion of Mary A Catholic Lay apostolate that performs both spiritual and corporal Works of Mercy. Ready to serve those who are in need a network of volunteers are ready to lend a helping hand. The Christmas Season is a busy one for many of us, however there are many who continue to need help. HOOPS Ministry is especially in need of volunteers who can help during the daytime and can serve to sit, visit and assist the eldery. If you have an extra few hours to commit once a week, once a month or just once please consider volunteering. A few hours served can make a world of difference in someone's life. At all levels, from the local councils to the Supreme Council, the organization has the volunteer power, communications abilities and organization to help strengthen the Church while offering members and their families to grow in the faith. Through the sponsoring of Church-related activities the members of the Knights of Columbus continue to show that they are the strong right arm of the Church. Every community has its unique needs. For the Knights of Columbus, whose first principle is charity, finding ways to help those in need in their communities is a mission its members embrace. Through their good works, whether it be bringing food to the hungry, warm coats to the cold, wheelchairs to those who can't walk, or any of the many programs conducted to help those in need, the Knights of Columbus practices a charity that evangelizes. Along with these fraternal activities are the programs councils regularly run to assist those of their members and their families who are in need.
