December 2017 Motto: Glorify the Lord in everything we do by helping others. President s Message Greetings Everyone... Here we are again with the holidays coming up and time for the annul newsletter. I always enjoy reading about the rallies and events from the past year. Judy Hill, our editor, does a great job of putting together an interesting and informative newsletter. It s my opportunity to say thank you to all our members who have helped making our rallies a success. I also want to thank our O/WC4C board for all they do behind the scenes to keep our chapter going. Last year I mentioned I was thankful for our election results and a new direction that our country could take to try to preserve our Christian values. I had know idea how Satan would fight back has been a year of turmoil in government along with unprecedented mass killings of innocent citizens for no reason other than Satanic influence. I go back to see what the Bible says about end times and I can see we are there. Israel becoming a nation in 1948, turmoil not just in the US, but throughout the whole world. We can look at the middle east, Russia becoming allies with Iran ( Persia ) and Syria. Look what is happening in North Korea. Friends we are at the end of the age. Our challenge is to continue praying for our nation and the world and let our light shine around those we come in contact with. I am thankful we are able to have a presence at the FMCA rallies with our morning devotions and giving prayers at our meetings. There are a lot of organizations in our country that now are trying to push Christian values out of their meetings. Pray that FMCA will not be one of them. I appreciate that we have an organization, Coaches For Christ, that we can get together with our brothers and sisters in the Lord for fellowship at our own rallies. I invite you to come to all of our rallies because we always have a great time. This year we started out with our work rally in the Tri-Cities, working at the Tri-City Union Gospel Mission. We accomplished a lot in two days to benefit the homeless. I won t ever forget Kathy Fredericksen and Judy Hill on their hands and knees with hammers and chisels breaking up floor tile. That was a sight to see. Continued from pg. 1 Volume 7, Issue 2 Everyone pitched in to get the jobs done that we were asked to do. The June pre-rally at Silver Cove went well thanks to the Fredericksen s and Campbell s. We had our best Brown Bag and silent auction thanks to all our bidders and our flamboyant auctioneer Don Foster. If you missed our fall rally in Cashmere you also missed a good one. The highlight was the all day cruise on Lake Chelan, 55 miles up the lake to a small village called Stehekin. We were blessed by the presence of Mike and Sandy Blakeslee and new members Marvin and Kathy Brown and Bob and Ann Wilber. Thanks to Dan Henderson for assisting the board to put on another successful rally. Looking forward to next year we plan to have our work rally at Camp Tadmor in May. The NW Area FMCA Rally will be at the Mill Casino in North Bend OR in June. We plan to have a Post Rally near by. Please plan to attend these rallies in We look forward to seeing all of our Coaches For Christ family and miss you when your not there. 3 Page 3 Union Gospel Mission, Pasco, WA Camped at the Owens River front property May 2 5, 2017 Wagon Masters Dave & Marlene Owens and Lonnie & Debbie Bamer Several of our Meals were held at the Duck Ranch close to Dave and Marlene. This was a great facility and such generous people. We were able to sneak in a few Left-Right-Center Games after dinner. It was great to have the Ranch Manager share about the Ranch and meet their pet turkey. Duck Ranch Manager Michael Crowder & wife Gretchen Our mission was to accomplish whatever projects the Union Gospel Mission had for us to do. As always, we amaze whoever we work for by the hard work each and everyone puts in on the days we work. We may be old, but bet we can accomplish more than the average person. Mark Fredericksen and Dennis Hill faired from the intense heat as they entertained the children while their moms went shopping in the free basement store. Wish we had a picture to share, especially with Mark having been doused by many kids with bubbles while attempting to blow bubbles.the art work was spectacular from all the chalk drawings by Dennis. Other projects included several men heading over to the warehouse and bagging pounds and pounds of dry beans for distribution. The shopping day for the moms had most of the women assisting in the store helping enforce rules to how many items could be taken.
Page 4 Ladies preparing for shopping day The determined bathroom demolition team There was a determined quest for Kathy Fredericksen and Judy Hill to accomplish tearing out the bathroom tile for the job they volunteered for. Clarence Dykman and Mark Fredericksen eventually showed up and assisted in helping to accomplish the job. Dan Henderson was also in on this project but don t think he believed Kathy & Judy that they could get the job done. The other projects which were accomplished were holes covered in the ceiling in various locations; plastered walls repaired; carpeting torn out of a room, and Lonnie working on computer issues. There was time to have a little fun and here is the fun competition we had racing around Dave s field in his Rhino. There were winners for the fastest time: Meredith Daughter for the women Clarence Dykman for the men Many thanks go to Al & Virginia Zimmerman for preparing an outstanding breakfast for all of us to send us on our way. Our Pre Rally was a time of fun for sure! The weather was great and we had fantastic facilities which we were the first group to christen the brand new club house. We had many things to keep us busy and the Fredericksens & Campbell saw to that for sure. But there still was time for visiting, relaxation and singing around the Campbell s fire pit. Another highlight was getting to celebrate everyone s birthday. Each table was set up for the

Owls out of kitchen gadgets & misc. items season their birthday is in so it mixed us up for sure and we discovered who celebrates birthdays close to our own. A job well done for sure by our wagonmasters. After leaving our pre rally, we once again put on the Morning Devotions for the NW Area Rally that took place at the Cowlitz County Fair grounds in Longview, WA. We were blessed by Rick Ensign, guest pastor who resides in Longview. One morning we were led in worship by Lenee McDaniel (the Hill s daughter) as well as being blessed by her voice with an original song written by her. God is so good! Our chapter has volunteered many times driving Activity Carts and this was no exception. Thanks to everyone for doing an outstanding job once again. Here is a letter from the captains for the Activity carts: THANK YOU! THANK YOU To all the Members of Coaches for Christ who drove Trams and Flagged Traffic. We had no idea we would be involved in flagging until Morning Devotions Game time competition Guest speaker Rick Ensign Parking started to park cars in a field that was full of water. Had we known ahead, we could have been better organized. The Sun didn t help either by trying to turn us dark brown instantly! This Rally was very difficult because a lot of people couldn t stand the heat and couldn t show up to Help! Thank you for all the extra hours you put in. We could not have held it together without you. We had no incidents! Ron and Betty
Page 7 Chelan County Expo/Fair Grounds, Cashmere, WA October 3-6, 2017 Fall in the central north area can pose to be cold this time of year, but we had fabulous weather and it was warm enough to enjoy fellowship sitting outside around our rigs. Those who were able to attend had a great time of fellowship and praising the Lord together as usual. Great accommodations with full RV hook-ups and a club house with a full kitchen. It was just what the doctor ordered for a time of relaxation and also a few adventures. The price was so affordable also. One evening we had Hobo Stew where all attended provided the ingredients and our chief cooks Judy and Marlene put it all together. It was a big hit and many had seconds. Our assistant wagon master Dan Henderson was also one of the cooks in the kitchen, hard to believe, right. He did a great job. That evening we had Keith Goehner, one of Chelan's County Commissioners speak to us. He gave us an update on what was happening in the county and also how the pear harvest was going this year. He was very informative and his wife Lisa also joined us for dinner. A highlight of our rally was the all-day boat ride on Lake Chelan. We went the entire length of the lake, approximately 55 miles and had lunch in Stehekin and then headed back where we all had dinner at Campbell's Resort. Two couples had to return to Cashmere to take care of their dogs, so we FREE candy samples missed them for dinner. During our time we also had 2 great tours. One to the Blue Star Fruit Warehouse in Cashmere where the tour took us from the beginning of the arrival of the pears to the actual cleaning, sorting, labeling and packing of the pears. We saw all this up close and personal. We also got to go into the lab where the fruit we eat is tested before being processed. We also toured the Aplets & Cotlets Candy Factory in Cashmere. We saw the behind the scenes making of the candy and the cutting and packing process. Of course we had all the FREE candy samples we wanted. Good stuff. We had 8 coaches which included 2 first timers with us. Marvin Chelan boat Trip with the Dykmans & Blakeslees
Page 8 & Kathy Brown from Boise, ID and Bob & Ann Wilber from Bend, OR (friends of the Foster's and now have joined). It was great having them with us. We were blessed to have Mike & Sandy Blakeslee and Don & Jo Grasley come without a rig and join us for one evening and the Chelan boat trip. It was so great seeing Sandy after her long ordeal of The bus trip to the falls w/jo Grasley posing battling her cancer and treatments. Thanks go to our Wagon Masters Dave & Marlene Owens, Dennis & Judy Hill and their able assistant Dan Henderson for a great rally. Camp ground along the Chelan Lake and thoughts for a future work rally???

Page 10 Hope is a Funny Thing As a college kid, who is deep into her junior year, hope seems like a foreign and far out concept sometimes. There are days that hoping for a good grade, a full night of sleep, or that the Bon (cafeteria) is serving your favorite meal that night, all just seems like dreaming. Many days, to say that I am feeling hopeful would be an understatement. But the funny thing about hope is that in some way or another it s always there.sometimes just really deep, deep down. So, where does that HOPE come from even when we feel like we are hopeless?!.jesus!!! Jesus died and the disciples, his friends, and family became very hopeless and confused. But, he rose again bringing HOPE to all! If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, then we are HOPING and waiting for him to come back again one day. Being a college kid, in the season of life that we re in, it s easy to lose hope and get discouraged, but God had His Son rise again. God sees you and your situation and wants to renew your hope in Him daily, all you have to do is ask. During this season of advent, reflect on the HOPE that Jesus brought and continues to bring. Psalm 147:11 1. What areas in your life are you hoping for God to show up in? And have you asked Him to? 2. What are your hopes and dreams as we come into the new year? McKenna Dean-Hill Social Work w/christian Ministries Minor Class of 2019 (George Fox University) It's hard to believe this year is almost gone! Many of our friends have had some serious health issues to deal with. Jim Vincent has had a long recovery period from very extensive surgery. I sent a card and called several times Both Don and Dorene Foster have had a challenging year with two surgeries for Dorene and a fall for Don with serious complications after rib fractures. I called several times & sent get well cards, Don kept us all in stitches with his descriptions of Dorene s recovery after her surgery!! Who knew he could write so well A card was sent to Sandy Blakeslee after hearing about her mom passing Debbie Bamer fell and broke her wrist so attended the pre-rally in style with a cast After Jan Dykman had surgery and radiation-calls and a card was sent. When we saw Virginia Zimmerman at the planning meeting in October, she was not feeling well, then Al fell off a ladder working at the church. What is this "couples" having medical issues at the same time? I sent a card to them While getting ready to attend the fall rally, Don Foster in getting the coach ready, injured himself. They were nice enough to send an awesome new couple Bob & Ann Wilber in their place! I found just the card for him. My Dave had knee surgery this month and is doing well... no card for him and I don't plan to join him in the "sick bay" No matter what happens to us in this world we have HOPE. But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strengths. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 Wishing you all a blessed holiday season and a healthy new year, Marlene Owens
Page 11 The results are in for the recent membership vote. Members have voted to welcome owners of self-contained RVs (trailers & 5th wheels). Total votes cast were 9,801 (out of approximately 73,000 members) in favor of passing 6,820 votes were cast and opposed were 2,981. The paperwork is in the process of being filed to make the vote official. We will notify you when membership applications from owners of self-contained RVs will be accepted by FMCA. As with most of you, we have several friends who might join us in serving the Lord through our chapter. Let them know we would love to have them join us at our Work Rally this spring. Lonnie and I wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Our prayers are with each of you through this season for health, safe travels and many opportunities to serve Our Lord.
