4 Announcements Temple Security For everyone s safety, all exterior doors at the Temple will be locked at all times. Our intercom system at Taft Avenue will be available whenever services, classes, appointments or special events are happening at the Temple. Please use it to gain entry, whether during office hours or otherwise. Matching Donation for Siddurim & Humashim! Our member, Naomi Lipsky, has created the Leonard and Esther Geller Book Fund in memory of her parents. This fund will match all new donations for the purchase of the Siddur Lev Shalem and Etz Hayim Humash. If you would like to donate one or more of these much needed volumes, please order on the Temple website or call the Temple office. The prices are $36 for the Siddur Lev Shalem and $72 for the Etz Hayim Humash. Remember - every book purchased now means two new books for the Temple! Swan Point Cemetery Plots Available for Purchase We are pleased to announce that plots in our new burial section at Swan Point are available to Temple Emanu-El members. All purchases will now be made directly through Swan Point. 6 Welcome Rabbi Annie Tucker January 11 13, 2019 The Senior Rabbi Search Committee is pleased to announce that Rabbi Annie Tucker will visit Temple Emanu-El from Friday, January 11th to Sunday, January 13th. Since 2013, Rabbi Tucker has served as the Senior Rabbi of Beth Hillel Bnai Emunah, a 500 household congregation in Wilmette, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago. Prior to her time at BHBE, Rabbi Tucker was the Associate Rabbi at The Jewish Center, a 750 household congregation in Princeton, New Jersey. A native of Lexington, Massachusetts, Rabbi Tucker earned her bachelor of arts degree (summa cum laude) in 1999 in psychology and Jewish studies from the University of Pennsylvania. She received her rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary in Rabbi Tucker also has a Master of Arts from JTS in Jewish Education. Among other affiliations, Rabbi Tucker serves on the Executive Council of the Rabbinical Assembly as well as the Rabbinic Advisory Board of Solomon Schechter of Chicago. Additional information about Rabbi Tucker can be found at: During Rabbi Tucker s visit, there will be several opportunities for congregants to listen to and meet with Rabbi Tucker. Although we will a complete schedule of events for Rabbi Tucker s weekend at Temple Emanu-El shortly, highlights of the weekend include:

7 Friday, January 11 Rabbi Tucker will present a brief d var Torah at Kabbalat Shabbat/Ma ariv services which begin at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, January 12 Rabbi Tucker will present a sermon from the bimah of the Main Sanctuary at 11:30 during Shabbat morning services, join the congregation at Kiddush in the Meeting House following services, and lead a Q&A session at 12:45 in the Vestry. Rabbi Tucker will then lead the davening and read Torah at Minhah in the Chapel beginning at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, January 13 Rabbi Tucker will lead a teaching session for all congregants at 11:00 a.m. in the Vestry. In addition to these events, during her visit, Rabbi Tucker will meet with the clergy and staff of Temple Emanu-El and leaders of the Jewish Community Day School. Rabbi Tucker will also meet with Religious School parents, participate in a Family First program, and teach in the Religious School on Sunday morning.
