Literal Translation Greek/English Interlinear Overall
Literal Translation Introduction 1) Now He was also saying to His disciples, A certain man was rich, who was having a steward; this one was accused to him as wasting his possessions. 2) And when he called him he said to him, What is this I hear concerning you? Give back the account of your stewardship; for you will no longer be able to be steward.
Literal Translation (continued) 3) And the steward said in himself, What will I do, because my master is removing the stewardship from me? I am not able to dig; I am ashamed to beg. 4) I know what I will do in order that whenever I should be removed of the stewardship, they may take me into their houses. 5) And after he called to himself each one of the debtors of his own master, he was saying to the first, How much do you owe my master?
Literal Translation (continued) 6) And he said, one hundred baths of oil. And he said to him, Take your bill when you sit down quickly write fifty. 7) Then he said to another, And you, how much do you owe? And he said, One hundred cors of wheat. And he says to him, Take your bill write eighty. 8) And the master praised the steward of unrighteousness because he acted shrewdly; because the sons of this age are more shrewd than the sons of light toward their own generation.
Literal Translation (continued) 9) And I myself say to you, Make for yourselves friends from the mammon of unrighteousness, in order that whenever you should fail, they may receive you into eternal dwellings. 10) The one who is faithful in the least thing is also faithful in much, the one who is unrighteous in the least thing is also unrighteous in much. 11) Therefore if you did not become faithful in unrighteous mammon, who will entrust the true thing to you?
Literal Translation (continued) 12) And if you did not become faithful in the thing of another, who will give to you your own? 13) Not one household servant is able to serve to masters; for either he will hate the one will love the other; or he will cling to one, will despise the other. You are not able to serve God mammon.
