1 Faith United Methodist Church Reflections June & July FRONT PAGE NEWS MISSIONS...Serving the Community Habitat for Humanity: The build this summer is right up the road, next to Dobbins Air Force Base, near the intersection of Austell Rd and Atlanta Rd. We will bless the Ayele family, a single mom and two children (ages 4 and 2). Our dates are Saturdays from June 27 to August 22. How can I help? Pray give a donation serve a meal (June 27) and lend a hand! What should I expect? Arrive to the site by 8 a.m. Wear sunscreen, a hat, work clothes and sturdy shoes. Bring your water bottle and work gloves. There will be others from churches, businesses, and the community no telling how many will be there, but there is work for all. Interior paint insulation siding trim-work landscaping punch list Habitat t-shirts are a great way to show off your good work and advertise the effort! You will be shown how to do the project of the morning everyone else is an amateur, too! Lunch and refreshments will be served. What kind of work is it? Habitat contracts with the pros for fine work like plumbing and electrical, but volunteers do most everything else: the framing, the walls, the painting, and landscaping, etc. What time does it end? It s helpful for the volunteers to stay til mid-afternoon and finish the tasks, but some volunteers will leave at various times throughout the day. Is it fun? Definitely! You will learn new things, meet great people, get tired out, and know that you did something important. How do I sign up? Look for the yellow sign-up sheet in the church narthex, or call the church office. Harvey Hightower if you would like more information, harveyhightower@bellsouth.net. Coming in June Imagine No Malaria. This is a fantastic, effective program to eliminate malaria, which is a preventable disease! Malaria weakens, disables, and kills men, women, and children throughout whole continents, but education and prevention have already dramatically reduced the death rate. We will be talking more about Imagine No Malaria in June, and our offering to it will be the Bishop s Offering for Annual Conference this summer. For distr ict infor mation about the campaign, see g/ amryimaginenomalaria. Special Offering Sunday June 14th. Faith Friendship Circle: On July 16th at 6:00 pm, the circle will prepare 500 lunches for MUST Summer Lunch Program. So be looking for the reminders coming this summer! Regular meetings resume Thursday, Aug. 20th at 10:30 a.m. Serve a Meal for Elizabeth Inn: July 29th October 29th December 29th Address: 55 Elizabeth Church Road, Marietta, Website:
2 Bits & Pieces of Faith News Celebrating Vacation Bible School 2015 During the week of June 8 to 11, Cumberland and Faith are working together to host VBS for over 25 children. Several volunteers are helping with setup during our Great Missions Morning, and at least 10 adult volunteers will help and lead through the week. The children will enjoy Bible stories, crafts, science activities, recreation time, music, and refreshments. We know everyone will grow in their discipleship as they bless others and share the good news of Jesus Christ. Thank you to all who support this effort. We couldn t do it without you! Faith/Cumberland Parents Morning Out program beginning in August. This will meet in the children s rooms, Monday through Thursday, 9 to 12:30, for about 24 children ages 6 months to 3 years old. FUMC and CUMC Mid-Summer Fellowship Dinner Wednesday, July 8th Special Guest: Winston Worrell, World Methodist Evangelism Institute, and Joint Worship Service (at Faith) September Thank You! The Cake Auction not only raised $4, but well exceeded their goal of $3, for Habitat of Humanity. We are so proud of this accomplishment and sincerely thank everyone involved to remember how they helped to improve the quality of life for so many. Thank You! Father s Day (Sunday, June 21st) Special Bulletin is right around the corner. If you haven t added your names yet, please call the church office. There is a donation of $1.00 per each name entered in as in Memory of or in Honor. Automatic bank draft is a great way to keep your financial commitment to the church! Brenda Cook in the church office can help you set it up, Brenda@faithumcng.org OR you can set it up through the church website. Questions or comments--contact Harvey Hightower, Finance Chair, harveyhightower@bellsouth.net. Make a final gift of blessing remember our church or other UMC ministries in your estate planning.
