Translate the following passage into natural English, using the space provided. Note that the principal parts of the words in bold are given, together with their meaning, after the passage. THE REALIST Dionysius, tyrannus Syracusarum, carmina scribere solebat, et credebat se habere non minimam artem. Omnes cives, rati se propter iram eius passuros esse, semper carmina, quae pessima erant, laudabant. Itaque saepe declarabant tyrannum esse longe peritissum omnium poetarum in Sicilia habitantium. Olim autem poeta clarus, nomine Philoxenus, Syracusas in regiam venit. Itaque amici Dionysii poetam sententiam de carminibus tyranni rogaverunt. Ille, qui vera semper dicere solebat, suum iudicium libenter dedit. Tum tyrannus, hoc audito, maxima ira motus servos misit qui poetam in carcerem conicerent.
