Ps. Exsurgat Deus, et dissipentur inimici eius: et fugiant, qui oderunt eum, a facie eius. The Spirit of the Lord has filled the whole earth, alleluia; and that which contains all things, knows every language spoken by men, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Ps. 4 Collect -4-

Liturgy of the Word First Reading Acts 2: 1-11 When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language. They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, "Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans? Then how does each of us hear them in his native language? We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome, both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God." Lector: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God. Responsorial Psalm Psalm 104: 1, 24, 29-30, 31, 34 Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD, my God, you are great indeed! How manifold are your works, O Lord! the earth is full of your creatures; R. Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth. May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD be glad in his works! Pleasing to him be my theme; I will be glad in the LORD. R. Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth. -5-

If you take away their breath, they perish and return to their dust. When you send forth your spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth. R. Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth. Second Reading I Corinthians 12: 3b-7, Alleluia Brothers and sisters: No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit. Lector: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Alleluia is not repeated, the Choir continues with the Sequence Veni Sancte Spiritus : Veni, Sancte Spiritus, et emitte caelitus lucis tuae radium. Come, Holy Spirit, and send forth from heaven the ray of your light. Veni, pater pauperum, veni, dator munerum, veni, lumen cordium. Come, Father of the poor; come, giver of gifts; come, light of hearts. Consolator optime, dulcis hospes animae, dulce refrigerium. O best Comforter, sweet guest of the soul, sweet coolness: In labore requies, in aestu temperies, in fletu solatium. In labor rest, in heat relief, in tears, solace. O lux beatissima, reple cordis intima tuorum fidelium. O most blessed light, fill the inmost hearts of your faithful. Sine tuo numine, nihil est in homine, nihil est innoxium. Without your aid, there is nothing in man, nothing is harmless. Lava quod est sordium, riga quod est aridum, sana quod est saucium. Cleanse what is base, water what is parched, heal what is ill. -6-

Flecte quod est rigidum, fove quod est frigidum, rege quod est devium. Bend what is rigid, warm what is chilled, guide what is astray. Da tuis fidelibus, in te confidentibus, sacrum septenarium. Give to your faithful, confiding in you, the holy sevenfold gifts. Da virtutis meritum, da salutis exitum, da perenne gaudium. Give the merits of virtue, grant a happy death, grant eternal joy. Amen. Alleluia. Holy Gospel John 20: Homily On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you." When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." Priest: The Gospel of the Lord. Response: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Profession of Faith The Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, [bow] and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. -7-

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. Prayer of the Faithful Offertory Lector: Let us pray to the Lord. Response: Lord, hear our prayer. Liturgy of the Eucharist -8-

Sanctus Offertorium: Confirma hoc Deus Graduale Romanum Confirma hoc Deus, quod operatus es in nobis: a templo tuo, quod est in Jerusalem, tibi offerent reges munera, alleluia. Confirm, O God, that which you have accomplished in us; from your holy temple which is in Jerusalem, to you shall kings offer gifts, alleluia. (Psalm 67/68: 29, 30) Motet: Confirma hoc Deus Josef Gabriel Rheinberger ( ) (See Offertorium above for Text & Translation) Missa XVIII Mysterium Fidei Amen -9-

Agnus Dei Communion Procession Communio: Factus est repente with Psalm 67/68 Graduale Romanum Factus est repente de caelo sonus advenientis spiritus vehementis, ubi erant sedentes, alleluia: et repleti sunt omnes Spiritu Sancto, loquentes magnalia Dei, alleluia, alleluia. Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty wind, to where they were sitting, alleluia; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking of the great deeds of God, alleluia, alleluia. (Acts 2: 2, 4 & Psalm 67/68: 2, 4-6, 8, 9, 20, 21, 29, 36) Motet: Regina Caeli, Laetare! Antonio Lotti ( ) Regina caeli, laetare! Alleluia, alleluia: quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia, alleluia: resurrexit sicut dixit, alleluia, alleluia. Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. O Queen of Heaven, rejoice! alleluia, alleluia; for the One whom you were worthy to bear, alleluia, alleluia, has arisen as He said, alleluia, alleluia. Pray for us to God, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia Final Blessing & Dismissal

The Saint Michael Prayer Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits, who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. Priest: Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, All: Have mercy on us.
