2 Winning Our primary concern throughout our ministry is to bring people to a personal saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We place a strong emphasis on evangelism as a way of Life, always reaching out to those who are lost. INSTRUCTING Our desire is to promote personal growth, whether In group settings or in one-on-one relationships. We believe in teaching the principles set forth in God s Word. Seeking to instill a Christ centered life. We focus on the truth of scripture and its practical application. SENDING Our ministry is motivated by Jesus command to Go into all the world and preach the gospel. We take full responsibility to effectively carry the message of God s love throughout the world by equipping and sending those who are willing to follow this Great Commission. ENCOURAGING Our people are the heart of our ministry! Following the example Jesus set forth in the New Testament, we are committed to a life of servanthood. Daily our goal is to provide an environment where we can nurture and encourage the body of Christ.

3 To My Church Family Pastor s Corner 07 February, 2016 The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved. The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people. Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy. The king's strength also loveth judgment; thou dost establish equity, thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob. Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy. - Psalm 99: 1-5 God has spared us one more month. Left here to do His will. As we look back over the first month of 2016, we thank God for all of His blessings. Just look at the above scripture. Verse 1-2 tells just how great God is; So great that we should have no other God before Him. There s a saying that God sets high but looks low. God has got His eyes on Tabernacle. Not just the Organization, but the live breathing Church that is each one of us. Secondly, He executes judgment and takes us to the spiritual woodshed, but that s what a loving father does. He corrects us when it is needed. The major accomplishment in January was the completing the formation of The Pulpit Committee. Please join me in praying that as the Lord leads, each member will follow and give Him the opportunity to do what He said He would do, for He said And I will give you Pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. - Jeremiah 3: 15 Let us get ready to receive our GIFT, as we face this crossroad, let us take the high road; As the passage says I will lift up my eyes unto the hills from which cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord which made Heaven and Earth. Then we can stand and sing with Rev. Perkins, I m On the Right Road Now. Christ reminds us in His Word; The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that He would send laborers into His harvest and the Pastor is the Senior Laborer. Lastly, let us thank God for contributions to our World, made by African Americans, that are spotlighted in the month of February by the country, but as for us, let us keep pushing to the extent that the one month observance per year, becomes a 12 month celebration! Finally, let us continue to pray for our sick, shut-ins, those who have lost loved ones; for our President, and for each and every one of us. May His blessings be constantly yours. In His Service Willie D. Hall Interim Pastor

Minster: Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit; we do now in the presence of God and this assembly most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ. Members: We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; and to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor and the spread of the gospel through all nations. Minister: We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to work circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger, to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drink as a beverage, and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior. Members: We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Savior, to secure it without delay. Bessie Coleman (Brave Bessie or Queen Bess), the world's first licensed black pilot, daughter of Susan Coleman, was born in Atlanta, Texas, on January 26, 1892, the twelfth of thirteen children. She grew up in Waxahachie. Her father left the family in 1900 to return to Indian Territory. Bessie, along with several siblings still living at home, helped ease the family's financial troubles by picking cotton or assisting with the washing and ironing that her mother took in. Upon graduation from high school she enrolled at the Colored Agricultural and Normal University (now Langston University) in Langston, Oklahoma. Financial difficulties, however, forced her quit after one semester. She moved to Chicago, where a brother was then living, and attended beauty school for a time. She spent the early years of World War I working as a manicurist at the White Sox Barbershop. She then operated a small but profitable chili parlor. Apparently in early 1917 Bessie Coleman married Claude Glenn, but she never publicly acknowledged the marriage, and the two soon separated. In 1920 Coleman, acting on a lifelong dream of learning to fly, traveled abroad to attend aviation school in Le Crotoy, France, after she discovered that no American school would accept African Americans. Robert S. Abbott, editor of the Chicago Weekly Defender, assisted her in contacting schools abroad. After studying for ten months in France she was issued a license on June 15, 1921, by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, giving her the distinction of being the first black person in the world to become a licensed pilot. She returned to the United States in Her goal, in addition to making flying her career, was to open a flying school for black students.

17 Celebrate Black History!! Every time a person crunches into a potato chip, he or she is enjoying the delicious taste of one of the world's most famous snacks a treat that might not exist without the contribution of black inventor George Crum. The son of an African-American father and a Native American mother, Crum was working as the chef in the summer of 1853 when he incidentally invented the chip. It all began when a patron who ordered a plate of French-fried potatoes sent them back to Crum's kitchen because he felt they were too thick and soft. To teach the picky patron a lesson, Crum sliced a new batch of potatoes as thin as he possibly could, and then fried them until they were hard and crunchy. Finally, to top them off, he added a generous heaping of salt. To Crum's surprise, the dish ended up being a hit with the patron and a new snack was born! Years later, Crum opened his own restaurant that had a basket of potato chips on every table. Though Crum never attempted to patent his invention, the snack was eventually mass-produced and sold in bags providing thousands of jobs nationwide. Clara Brown, a freed slave, established a successful laundry business during the Colorado gold rush and helped former slaves get on their feet. Born a slave in Virginia in 1800, Clara Brown married another slave named Richard and had four children, but they were separated at auction. When Brown was later freed, she went in search of her family and was eventually reunited with her daughter Eliza Jane. After being separated, Brown traveled west to look for (her family), working as a cook for a group of gold prospectors headed to Colorado. It is believed that she was the first African-American woman to make it to Colorado's gold rush region. Once she reached Colorado, she moved from town to town, seeking economic opportunities. Settling in Central City, she made money by running a laundry business and became quite a success. Brown earned enough to buy property and invest in mines. She was known to help anyone in need. A pious Christian, Brown also hosted religious services in her home and was a strong supporter of the Methodist church. By her eighties, Brown's health was failing and her funds were running low. Despite her hardships, this became a joyous time in her life. Brown received the news that her daughter Eliza Jane was alive and living in Iowa. The two were later reunited, close to 50 years after they were separated. Brown died in Before her death, she was made a member of the Society of Colorado Pioneers for her role in the Colorado gold rush Originator of Black History Month
