2 Kate s Corner Why I Rainbow. Hello Ohio Rainbow! As you may have noticed, every edition of the newsletter has contained a Why I Rainbow from each member of the Grand Line and this time it s my turn! I joined Rainbow at the age of 12 after Mom Blubaugh talked to me about Rainbow. I joined as the friend of a Rainbow Girl because at that time, I didn t know that I had any Masonic family. I joined with 10 other girls and am very happy but bittersweet that I will receive my Majority this year with one of those girls by my side. A while after I joined, I found out that my father, my grandfather, my uncle and cousin were all Masons! I never knew about my Masonic connections but it felt like fate that I still found Rainbow somehow. It wasn t long after I joined that I knew I wanted to be a member of the Grand Line, but I took a long time to decide what I wanted to do. I soon fell in love with the office of Faith and made up my mind that, one day, I would be Grand Faith. Soon after, I was installed as Sister of Hope in my Assembly and loved the lesson of Hope and what it taught and wondered if maybe I should change my mind and run for Grand Hope. I skipped being Sister of Charity my first time through the line and was so relieved! My Mother Advisor at the time was a Past Grand Charity and I didn t want to disappoint her, but thought it might be fun to follow in her footsteps one day and be Grand Charity. My first initiation as Worthy Associate Advisor was an Inspection and I totally failed at it! I messed up so much and was very ready to become Worthy Advisor and never be Worthy Associate Advisor again. But as luck would have it, my first initiation as Worthy Advisor came and I royally messed up again, the current Grand Worthy Advisor had to step in and cover for me and I was mortified. I cried the entire way home. A month later we had another Initiation and I could not have been more prepared. I breezed through the meeting because I had done so much work to be better that time. Who knew that the two offices I hated having the most would end up being my Grand Offices one day? Throughout my Rainbow years, there have been many times that I wondered, Why am I doing this?. I wondered why I was chosen as a certain Grand Office when I had been hoping for a different one, but looking back now, every event, every Initiation gone wrong, every Grand Office led me to exactly where I am supposed to be. People always say that hindsight is 20/20 but that phrase wasn t one I understood until I had the entire experience to look back on. This year I turn to a new chapter in my life, a chapter in which I m not an active Rainbow Girl anymore, a chapter that I m both excited and scared to enter. But I know that I will still have the support of my Rainbow family, I know that my eight amazing years in Rainbow have prepared me for the real world, and I know that being Grand Worthy Advisor this year has been the best year of my life thus far. I have met so many people and had so many experiences this year that I will remember for the rest of my life. As you go to Grand Assembly this year, and turn to a new page in your Rainbow journey, your life's journey, remember that every moment leads you on to the next one, and each new moment will be one you cherish forever. In Rainbow Class and Sass, Kate R, Grand Worthy Advisor Page 2 The Scoop

3 Huber Heights Happenings! Huber Heights Assembly has been busy since our institution in May of We participated in the July 4th parade. We made Thanksgiving placemats for the Masonic Home in Springfield. On January 19, Huber Heights held a Mystery Dinner Theatre for the Advisory Board and parents. It was lots of fun and such a success that we have been asked to hold one at the Masonic Home in Springfield. The girls were assigned parts by the Mother Advisor, Terrie and were asked to dress their part. The girls were very responsive and seemed to enjoy both the mystery and the dinner. We plan to hold the mystery dinner at the Masonic Home in the fall. We had our first initiation in April and will reach our goal of 12 girls so that we can become constituted. We are looking forward to Grand Assembly this July. Page 3 The Scoop

4 Painesville Assembly Rocks! Hello Ohio Rainbow! Greetings from Painesville Assembly #14 formerly of District 31. We have had quite a year and we would like to share some of our highlights with you. At Grand Assembly, we were honored with three grand appointments. We wish to congratulate: Erin, Grand Rainbow Flag Escort and Grand Representative to Texas; Katie, Grand Choir Director; and Rhiannon, Grand Religion. We are all looking forward to attending Grand Assembly and watching you rock on the grand floor. Within hours of arriving home from Grand Assembly, Katie immediately started the social media game and got us awarded our blue scoop. She started texting everyone to get them to add the Grand Worthy Advisor's Instagram and Snap Chat accounts. Kate R. had the information for our first scoop really quickly! Mom Merchant, our Pledge assembly mom, is always busy with our pledge group. The Raindrops are going strong, and just recently celebrated their second anniversary with a visit to the Perambulator Museum. Our pledges join us for our social activities and anything else we can invite them to. Our girls love our little sisters. We were all excited when Mom Frantz was appointed Grand Deputy of (formerly) District #5. This gives us more sisters to have rainbow fun with, and we are excited to share Super Teams and Grand Assembly with these ladies. This current term, we do not have a Worthy Advisor. We have Past Worthy Advisors filling in and teaching our girls important things like the importance of learning your ritual, how to plan social activities and proper dress and behavior in the assembly room. It's turning out to be fun and educational. One of the social activities we planned was a prospect party. We had an ice cream social and had the Rainbow Olympic games on February 18th. We ate ice cream sundaes and played Minute to Win it type games. We had one prospect attend, and she is now a member of our assembly. Tri-Youth Day was March 10th. We had four ladies participate. Ashley and Selena were flag escorts, Erin was Treasurer, and Katie was Sister of Hope. The corp of officers that were put together of the day did a great job, and they initiated 7 new sisters into Rainbow, two of whom are members of our assembly. We wish to welcome Veronica and Lorelai. Lorelai is a "graduate" of our pledge assembly, and Veronica attended our prospect party. We are excited for a Rockin' Rainbow good time at Grand Assembly. We hope to see you there! Volume 1, Issue 5 Page 4

7 Where are the Flocks????? Help Ohio Rainbow, the flocks are missing!!!! Have you seen them? Neither of our two flocks has made an appearance recently in Ohio and were afraid they may have just flown south because they re tired of our Ohio weather! We would love some more assemblies to get the chance to be flocked before Grand Assembly so if you have them please send them flying off to another Assembly. Kate will even help wrangle them to their next destination if needed! These Assemblies, to our knowledge, have NOT been flocked yet!
