2 June 2014 Issue #3 GENEROSITY When% we% take% a% few% moments% everyday% to% appreciate% the% positive% aspects% of% our% lives,% what% someone% may% have% done% for% us%or%simply%appreciating%the% things% we% have,% we% end% up% feeling%better%about%our%lives% in% general.% The% positivity% we% feel% at% the% end% of% the% day% allows% us% to% be% able% to% give% generously.%% The% Israelites% valued% remembrance% so% they% would% never% forget% the% ways% God% had% delivered% them% in% the% past.% Their% willingness% to% reslect% allowed% for% God% to% bless% them% with% generous% hearts.% So% the% people% of% Israel every% man% and% woman% who% was% eager% to% help%in%the%work%of%the%lord% had% given% them% through% Moses brought% their% gifts% and% gave% them% freely% to% the% Lord, % Exodus% 35:29.% The% Israelites% gave% with% their% whole% hearts% and% offered% to% God% their% most% precious% and% personal%items.%they%did%not% consider% their% giving% to% be% transactions,% but% as% gifts% from% deep% within% their% hearts% and% saw% them% as% passionate% responses% to% the% God% who% had% shown% them% grace%time%and%time%again.%% Dr.% Michael% McCullough,% a% professor% and% researcher% in% psychology% at% the% University% of% Miami% uncovered% that% taking%time%to%be%grateful%for% the% blessings% in% our% lives% leads%us%to%a%deeper%sense%of% well% being.% We% see% boosts% in% positive% emotion% and% even% sleep%better%at%night.%% No% matter% what% we% reslect% on,% whether% it% may% be% times% of% healing,% opportunities% of% hope,% or% moments% of% joy,% love,%and%companionship,%we% can% all% reach% the% same% conclusion God%is%so%good.% ~Originally" written" by" Rev." 3 New Orleans CROSSING BORDERS On%April%21 st,%twentyrfour%missionaries%from%maine%and%massachusetts% traveled%to%the%lower%9th%ward%to%continue%to%help%rebuild%lives,%plant% seeds% of% hope% and% strengthen% human% connections.% Elijah% Jope,% the% youngest%member%of%team%said,%"i%really%enjoyed%my%trip%to%the%lower% 9th% Ward.% There% were% many% fascinating% stories% from% Katrina% that% showed%how%god%had%affected%people's%lives.%it%was%hard%work,%but%it% was% worth% it% to% see% our% progress% and% see% how% happy% the% people% were%that%volunteers%were%willing%to%offer%their%time%helping%out.%i% would%like%to%go%there%again%next%year. %Thank%you%to%everyone%who% supported%the%team. The%Atchisons%enjoyed%the%fellowship%of%the%Mission%Team% from% FBC% Melrose% and% marveled% at% the% work% they% completed% during% school% vacation% at% the% Alfond% Youth% Center% (AYC)% These% young% people% and% their% leaders% created% funrpacked% games% and% crafts% for% over% 40% kids% attending% the% AYC% Vacation% Camp% In% the% evenings% they% had%fellowship%time%around%uno%cards%and%the%apples%to% Apples%board%game.%They%were%joined%by%the%AYC%Karate% Director,% Craig% Sargent% and% Pastor% Brian% Casey,% from% North%Windsor%Baptist%who%brought%his%guitar%for%some%worship.
