1 In our homes we need to talk of, rejoice in and preach of Christ so that our children, and we ourselves, will desire to apply the Atonement in our lives. Elder Dale G. Renlund - Nov (2Nephi 25:26) Talk of Christ Nephi s phrase we talk of Christ suggests that we are not reluctant to talk about our feelings regarding the Savior in conversations and informal settings. D. Todd Cristofferson How can I talk of Christ in my home? 1. Don t be afraid to apply the teachings of the Savior into everyday experiences, in our casual conversations with our family. 2. After Church, have each family member voice one thing they learned about the Savior, and share at dinner time. 3. Before Family prayer, have each family member express one way they have seen the Lord s hand in their day; a blessing they have received. 4. Share how family or personal prayers have been answered while sitting around the dinner table, or in Family Home Evening. 5. Acknowledge the tender mercies of the Lord, things that have happened in your family, by recording them in a family miracle journal.

2 Rejoice In Christ We rejoice in Christ implies that we live with a generally happy outlook that reflects our faith in Christ As our faith in Jesus Christ shines through, we show others, who labour and are heavy laden how to find rest in Him. Todd Christofferson How can I rejoice in Christ in my Home? 1.Write a Birthday Appreciation Letter to your husband, and your children, by expressing gratitude for what they do for the family, for who they are, & acknowledge positive ways they are living the Gospel. 2.Music: Sing hymns or primary songs, play uplifting music in your home and your car. 3.Celebrate Christ during the holidays, by putting on pageants from different scripture stories, telling faith-promoting stories from His life, & by sharing personal experiences that have increased your faith and testimony of the Savior. 4.During times of trial, pray & fast together, showing love and support for one another. Pray specifically for the individual family member who is struggling. Let them hear of your love & concern for them through prayer. 5.Have Fun together! Play together; plan family outings, activities and family vacations! Preach of Christ Seek not to declare my word, but first seek to obtain my word, and then shall your tongue be loosed; then if you desire, you shall have my Spirit and my word, yea the power of God unto the convincing of men. 3 Remember that having religious observance in the home is as important as providing food, clothing and shelter Quentin L. Cook How can I Preach of Christ in my home? 1.Make time for your own daily spiritual practice that includes scripture study, prayer, pondering and recording of your own personal revelation. 2.Prepare spiritual experiences for your family to participate in. Like re-enacting the Iron Rod or Burying paper swords in the ground with something written on them, something, that they want to repent of, as the People of Ammon buried their weapons of war, promising to never take them up again. 3.Create a Repentance place (it could be a large chair, bench or a loveseat,) for a place of personal reflection and for talking things over, when dealing with family conflicts. This can teach repentance in a very natural way. 4.Use Family Home Evenings to teach your children; Christ s standard of morality. This is our sacred trust as parents. Teach them to seek after things virtuous, lovely, of good report or praiseworthy. 5.Ensure your home is guarded against the evils of the world, in your televisions, computers and cell phones. Make a plan for your children, so they know what they should do, if they encounter inappropriate messages or pictures through these technologies. Empower them to do the right thing. 4 Remember that you are spirit daughters of the most creative being in the universe Creation means bringing into existence something that did not exist before colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter Everyone can create. You don t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty Creation brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment. We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty If you still feel incapable of creating, start small. Try to see how many smiles you can create, write a letter of appreciation, learn a new skill, identify a space and beautify it. President Dieter F. Such as stitch it on a pillow, or a quilt. 2.Display a Family Scripture in a creative way in your home. Put it in a frame or paint it on a board, or use vinyl lettering on a wall. 3.Make a Family Memory Quilt. 4.Hang pictures of the Temple or the Savior. 5.Start a Journal that consists of the Tender Mercies the Lord has provided your family. 5 9.De-clutter, organize and clean your home as a family. Sort through DVD s and Music, and discard all that are inappropriate. 10. Ensure that the technology in your home (computers, televisions and cell phones) are properly guarded from the evils of the world.
