She passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Maristone of Providence in Mount She was born Friday, December 6, 1929 in Baxter, Tennessee to the late John Moses Mills and Hattie Elizabeth Presley Mills. More than anything, Lillie loved Jesus, reading her Bible, her family, friends, cooking, flowers, sewing and gardening. In addition to her parents, Lillie Katherine Anderson was preceded in death by: husband, BJ Anderson; son, Jim Anderson; brothers, Girtas Mills and Earl Mills; sister, Lorelle Bouton. Funeral services for Carlos HL Fat Marlow, age 100 of Baxter, TN, will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Pitts officiating. Burial will follow at Marlow Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Baxter Chapel on Thursday from 5:00-8:00 PM and Friday from 9:00AM until time of the service. Mr. Marlow passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 at his residence in Baxter. Carlos HL Fat Marlow was born in Putnam County, TN on January 3, 1916 to the late Benton and Mettie (Vickers) Marlow. He grew up in the Cedar Hill community working on the farm and at the sawmill. Carlos was of the Church of Christ faith and an avid hunter. He was also a veteran of World War II. Carlos was working in Detroit, Michigan when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. He remained in Detroit until 1944 working in a factory, making shell casings for anti-aircraft powered turrets for the U.S. Navy. In April, 1944, Carlos went in active duty in the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific theater and was assigned to a heavy artillery unit. His duty was to operate quadrant on guns to determine barrel height to obtain the distance of projectile. Carlos unit was on stand-by alert to participate in the invasion of the Japanese mainland when atomic bombs were dropped causing Japan to surrender. Carlos was discharged from the Army in April, He returned to Detroit and married Dorothy Ellsworth. They moved to Tennessee and in 1951 bought a farm on the Maddux Ridge in the Cedar Hill Community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy Marlow; son: Charles Freeman Marlow; daughter: Barbara Sullins; 2 brothers: Cecil Marlow and Bill Marlow; sister: Edna Flatt. Charles was born in Putnam County and in 1940 he and his father were living with Benton and Mettie Marlow (Charles grandparents) on their farm. Living at home at the time were Charles aunt Jewell and his uncles Willard and Hilary (Bill). When he was 18 he enlisted in the Air Force and served for 20 years until He was a resident of Hawkinsville, GA, an Independent Insurance agent, and a member of Warren Robbins Church of Christ. While he spent time in Tennessee attending to his father needs, he attended the Colonial Heights Church of Christ in Cookeville. He always had a Bible nearby. His faith was an important part of his life. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Dorothy Marlow; step-sister, Barbara Sullins; and grandparents, Benton and Mettie Marlow. Service was held at the Chapel of Baxter Funeral Home.

She lived in the present moment and few things were more important than good conversation and a hot cup of tea. She was a prolific writer of essays, musings and poetry spanning more than six decades. Earlier this year, she published a volume of poetry and most recently, she was working on her memoirs. Family and friends will remember Deen especially for her irrepressible curiosity, sense of humor, pragmatism and unflagging courage in staring down even the most daunting of life's challenges.
