FRESH VISION, NEW DREAM DS Report to the Ditrict Aembly, May 4, 2018 INTRO: Firt, we have ome thing to celebrate. Ø Lat year, on an average Sunday, people attended worhip ervice in our churche acro the Ditrict. Ø people are member of the Church of the Nazarene on the Anaheim Ditrict. Given the fact that our people don t attend every week, that i a more reflective number of the people we erve nearly people on our Ditrict, are erved by our churche! Ø A a Ditrict, we overpaid our World Evangelim Fund by %! Ø people accepted Chrit lat year in our churche. That i the mot in the pat year! Here are ome number I picked up from a recent meeting, about the Church of the Nazarene in USA/Canada: Ø Only of our 78 ditrict, had an increae in memberhip over the pat 5 year. Ø Only of thoe ditrict howed an increae in worhip attendance over the pat 5 year. Ø of thoe 78 ditrict had a decreae in memberhip of more than 10%, over the pat 5 year. How doe the Anaheim Ditrict fit into that picture? Ø In the lat 5 year, memberhip on our Ditrict ha decreaed by %. Ø Worhip attendance ha decreaed by almot %. Eintein gave u a definition of inanity: it i doing the thing, in the way, and expecting a reult. I believe that God i challenging u to a new viion and a freh dream. The fact i that the pat i familiar and, and the future i unknown and. But we can t live in the pat. God call u to move on, and live our live focued on what i of u, not what i. 4

Hebrew 11:24-26 (NIV) By faith Moe, when he had grown up, refued to be known a the on of Pharaoh' daughter. 25 He choe to be mitreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleaure of in for a hort time. 26 He regarded digrace for the ake of Chrit a of greater value than the treaure of Egypt, becaue he wa looking ahead to hi reward. Exodu 2:10-13 (NIV) When the child grew older, he took him to Pharaoh' daughter and he became her on. She named him Moe, aying, I drew him out of the water. 11 One day, after Moe had grown up, he went out to where hi own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He aw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of hi own people. 12 Glancing thi way and that and eeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the and. 13 The next day he went out and aw two Hebrew fighting. He aked the one in the wrong, Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew? But our pat mut not be our a a church. It take to break away from the pattern and influence of your pat. I. WALK AWAY FROM WHAT YOU DOWN Hebrew 11:24 (NIV) By faith Moe, when he had grown up, refued to be known a the on of Pharaoh' daughter. Exodu 2:5-10 (NLT) Soon Pharaoh daughter came down to bathe in the river, and her attendant walked along the riverbank. When the prince aw the baket among the reed, he ent her maid to get it for her. 6 When the prince opened it, he aw the baby. The little boy wa crying, and he felt orry for him. Thi mut be one of the Hebrew children, he aid. 7 Then the baby iter approached the prince. Should I go and find one of the Hebrew women to nure the baby for you? he aked. 8 Ye, do! the prince replied. So the girl went and called the baby mother. 9 Take thi baby and nure him for me, the prince told the baby mother. I will pay you for your help. So the woman took her baby home and nured him. 10 Later, when the boy wa older, hi mother brought him back to Pharaoh daughter, who adopted him a her own on. The prince named him Moe, for he explained, I lifted him out of the water. One of the hardet thing for a church to get pat from their pat i a ituation where it ha. Philippian 3:13-14 (HCSB) But one thing I do: forgetting what i behind and reaching forward to what i ahead, 14 I purue a my goal the prize promied by God heavenly call in Chrit Jeu. 5

II. EMBRACE THE Hebrew 11:25 (NIV) He choe to be mitreated along with the people of God... Being a Chritian in t jut about getting to. Do you jut want to, or do you really want to make a? If you want to make a difference, you will have to the challenge that come along with following Jeu. Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) But eek firt the kingdom of God and Hi righteoune, and all thee thing hall be added to you. In our churche, the devil will make ure that there will be challenge. But mean that you are headed the right direction. III. NAIL DOWN YOU ARE Hebrew 11:24-26 (NIV) By faith Moe, when he had grown up, refued to be known a the on of Pharaoh' daughter. 25 He choe to be mitreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleaure of in for a hort time. 26 He regarded digrace for the ake of Chrit a of greater value than the treaure of Egypt, becaue he wa looking ahead to hi reward. There i a very real temptation for u to let our background or our identity determine who we are, before our faith. Let me ay thi a clearly and a directly a I can: Ø You cannot be firt, and then Chritian. Ø You cannot be firt, and then a Chritian. Ø You cannot be firt, and then a Chritian. Ø You cannot be firt, and then a Chritian. Ø You cannot be Mexican or Guatemalan, or, or Salvadoran or Nicaraguan firt, and then be Chritian. If you are not a Chritian firt, you are not a! Roman 10:12 (HCSB) for there i no ditinction between Jew and Greek, ince the ame Lord of all i rich to all who call on Him. But we can t let that become the of who we are, becaue every one of u i going to die omeday, and when we do, we will being all thoe thing. But we will be Chritian for all. 6

Luke 14:25-27 (NIV) Large crowd were traveling with Jeu, and turning to them he aid: 26 If anyone come to me and doe not hate hi father and mother, hi wife and children, hi brother and iter--ye, even hi own life--he cannot be my diciple. 27 And anyone who doe not carry hi cro and follow me cannot be my diciple. You weren t made to along the ground. You were made to through the kie. IV. PAY THE Hebrew 11:24-26 (NIV) By faith Moe, when he had grown up, refued to be known a the on of Pharaoh' daughter. 25 He choe to be mitreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleaure of in for a hort time. The price for progre i paid in. Luke 14:33 (NIV) In the ame way, thoe of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my diciple. If you want your church to catch a new viion, and dream a new dream, you need to be willing to pay the. CONC: God viion and dream for your church will have to become viion and dream for your church, or it will die. 1 John 1:9 (NIV) If we confe our in, he i faithful and jut and will forgive u our in and purify u from all unrighteoune. Revelation 3:20 (NIV) Here I am! I tand at the door and knock. If anyone hear my voice and open the door, I will come in 7

At the Winter Brunch you brought in 588 Crii Care Kit or 98 boxe. You raied over $10,700 for lat year Ditrict Project! Thee fund went to the Media Center in Riobamba, Ecuador. The equipment wa moved in and they will begin offering clae to youth in July. You alo raied $3650 for the Youth Pator in Ireland. Miionary Stephen Morley wrote Thank you for inveting in the Youth of Ireland, and pecifically in the Youth Minitry of Greytone Nazarene. Thank you for ending delegate to the NMI Global Convention thi pat ummer. The delegate attended numerou educational workhop. The information from thee workhop wa hared during Level Up at the Long Beach Firt Church in September. We alo worked with the ret of the Global Church to ratify our Contitution. The following are a few change being implemented: The purpoe of thi organization hall be to mobilize the Church of the Nazarene in miion through 1) praying 2) giving 3) educating and 4) engaging children and youth. You notice we no longer ay diciplehip and it ha been replaced by engaging children and youth. NMI will accomplih thi through 5 Impact Area. Thee 5 area were elected to ENGAGE all churche no matter the ize, language or location. Thee area are now requirement for receiving Miion Priority One Recognition. The 5 impact Area are: Prayer, giving to the WEF, participating in Alabater, engaging children and youth, and connecting through Link. At the USA/Canada Regional NMI Leaderhip Conference that Andréa Hopter and I attended General Superintendent Dr. Gutavo Crocker brought about an important point. Now that World Evangelim Fund giving i baed on 5.5% of current giving rather than a percentage of pat giving churche are taking the 5.5% out (or 14.9% if you include all budget) and ending it in without educating people on miion. Pleae put your NMI Preident to work. Have them educate your congregation on fund being ent in for World Evangelim Fund. Schedule a miionary peaker. Show video clip. Take additional offering like Alabater, World Broadcat, and Nazarene Compaionate Minitrie. Get the kid and youth involved. We are a miional church. People give to omething they are paionate about. We have to keep the paion for miion going. I d like to thank my incredible Ditrict Council and our Local NMI Preident for all their hard work. Thank you for letting me do what I love! 33 Anaheim Ditrict NYI Report Dr. Chambo, Rev. Miller, ADNYI and Anaheim Ditrict Aembly Delegate, We had another incredible year for NYI on the Anaheim Ditrict! Thi year, the ADNYI Council and I worked on building on the foundation we laid lat year. Our key area of focu were Leaderhip, Relationhip Building, Finance and Event. Leaderhip - Thi year we olidified an already capable team. We organized our time together, met almot monthly, and extended our team by bringing in more youth worker to help lead our event. We prayed together, encouraged one another, and continued try to help fill in the gap. One of our greatet leaderhip initiative wa that of involving the tudent in our annual NYI Convention. Thi event wa geared toward leader. It i our objective to introduce our tudent leader to our polity o that they will tranition well into future board member, lay leaderhip, and pator in the future. Relationhip Building - Connecting our tudent at event ha become one of our top prioritie. They have rallied to Collide and it ha become our primary focu. Collide initially allowed youth group to gather together a a collection of youth group. However, it ha now become a youth group in and of itelf. The youth group blend and rehape a they come to Collide a they become one church called ADNYI. It doen t mean that the local church loe it identity by any mean. Intead, Collide extend the relationhip and viion of the church beyond the local church. It ha truly made all of our other event proper becaue of the relationhip that have been formed and trengthened here. Finance - Thi year wa a challenge a it eemed le money came in from the churche to fund the budget for NYI. Thi wa mitigated to ome extent becaue ome of our normal fund were not expended a we cut back in ome area and becaue we hoted the fall Southwet Field event which aved u on hotel and travel cot for two people. On a poitive note, we were able to fully fund all of our other event. We have been very bleed to have a diligent team who pay attention to the way we pend money. It i purpoeful and, becaue of that, powerful a it i ued to prioritize and promote God Kingdom growth and development. Event - The event for thi year were incredibly well done and we are getting even better with each event we plan. Summer Camp - Summer Camp wa an incredible event for u a a group. The greatet part wa an unplanned worhip experience when the holy pirit fell on ADNYI. Not only did we ee people coming to know and grow in Chrit, we aw an outpouring of worhip to God! I heard from the camp director that they hadn t had anything like that happen in a very long time. I have come to believe that the camp wa the right place for u to be for the tudent and youth worker of ADNYI but alo for the campground. 32

ADNYI ha brought a pirit of relationhip with God and one another that could not be contained by a chedule or kepticim or ditraction or any of the other thing that might come between a moment like that and the pace God i invading. The power of Jeu Chrit on the cro and Hi empty tomb became real to u, to the campground, and anyone who wa there that night. Praie the Lord! Collide - A I tated above, Collide ha become a relationhip building event. It i my hope that thi foundation will give u a great turnout at NYC 2019! ELEV8 - We had a good group that went to elev8 at Point Loma Nazarene Univerity lat May. Thi year, we have doubled our regitration and have people on the waiting lit! That more that 60 tudent and youth worker that are igned up! Winter Camp - Winter retreat aw a return to Alpine Camp and Conference Center. We were the larget group there thi year and we had an incredible time! Thi event, along with Camp have become the highlight of our year a we ee tudent come to know and grow in the Lord. I want to give a pecial hout out to the ADNYI Council for the countle hour they volunteer becaue of their love for Jeu, teen, and the deire to connect the two. I can t wait to ee how God continue to ue NYI to hape the future of our Church and to carry on the witne of Chritian around the world. Repectfully Submitted, Doug Gunalu ADNYI Preident 33

PLNU Education Report Rev. Rollie Miller, Dr. Filimao Chambo, Member and friend of the Aembly, Thi ha been a week of meaningful celebration of - a well a commitment to - the Spiritual life and future of Point Loma Nazarene Univerity. Tueday, the new Precott Prayer Chapel wa dedicated to the Glory of God. HISTORY: In the early 1970', a group of four tudent (two from our ditrict) felt trongly that our chool campu, then Paadena College, hould have a Sacred Space where tudent could pray and interact with the Living God. They began raiing money to build a prayer chapel. A huge jar wa placed where dime, quarter and dollar bill could contribute to that end. The effort reulted in the upport of Preident Shelborne Brown, the Board of Trutee, faculty and the taff. Plan were drawn up to build a little prayer chapel: A quiet, inviting place on a buy campu where anyone could lip inide to meet with the living God. The chapel wa contructed on the campu. Shortly after, the deciion wa made to move the college to San Diego, and the little prayer chapel wa the only building that wa relocated from Paadena to the new campu. For year it tood near the entrance of the Point Loma campu centered among the School of Theology, the library, the cience building, and Brown Chapel. It ha been impoible for anyone to move acro campu without coming in contact with that tiny building - in the heart of our campu. It i, after all, the very ymbol of our reaon for exitence. Several year ago when the excavation for our new cience building approached the chapel, project engineer made the dirt mover carefully maneuver around the building, until Precott Prayer Chapel tood treacherouly on a tiny promontory bluff, a though hanging on for dear life. A cloer look at the chapel indicated that it would not urvive; Decade of ea moiture had taken it toll; it could not be alvaged. Becaue generation of tudent, taff, and loyal churchmen were greatly addened by the new, a fund to replace the little chapel began. And it grew. And grew. But that' another amazing tory for another time. Tueday of thi week, the NEW - the replacement - Precott Prayer Chapel wa dedicated to the Glory of God. It i now contructed of trong material that will withtand the element of time. It i till at the very center, the heart, of campu, and i pectacularly beautiful. A reminder of Who God i, amongt the daily-ne of our live. Thank you, loyal alum, Church member, friend, upporter, parent and grandparent of tudent, Women' Auxiliary, and countle other who care not only about a univerity that challenge the mind of it tudent, but alo the heart of every peron who walk acro our beautiful campu. To the Glory of God! Indeed! Repectfully ubmitted, Jan Stone, Chair, Education Committee,
