Wednesday November 9, 1910 An Aged and Exteemed Wellsboro Citizen Passed away Sunday Mr. Jeremiah Klock, aged 86 years, died Sunday morning at 8;30 O'clock at his home on Nichols street, after a short illness, due to the infirmities of age. He had been in failing health for several years. Mr. Klock was a son of Adam and Nancy Hart Klock being one of a family of ten children, and he was born in Herkimer county, N.Y. on May 3, His parents were of German descent and when the subject of this sketch came with his parents to

13 Charleston township, when he was twelve years of age. He could not speak a word of English. On October 30, 1845, Mr. Klock married Maria Abrams, who died on May 6, Five children were born to them Villeroy, who died eleven years ago. Jennie, wife of R.A. Ely of Charleston; Clara, wife of Sterry Kimball, of Wellsboro, Milon L. Klock, of Wellsboro, and Emma L., wife of William Smith, who died January 25, Mr. and Mrs. Klock resided on their farm in Charleston, about four miles from Wellsboro, until October 1877, when they removed to Wellsboro. They celebrated their golden wedding Oct. 30, Besides his three children, Mr. Klock is survived by five brothers and one sister Edwin Klock, of Covington; Hiram Klock of Charleston; Andrew Klock of Wellsboro; John A. Klock, of Wyoming, Illinois; Henry Klock, of Ottumwa, Kansas, and Mrs. Lizzie Brooks of Roundtop. Mr. Klock was a member of the Presbyterian church and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Harry Wilkins, of Churchville, N.Y., will officiate and interment will be made in the Wellsboro cemetery. Klock, formerly of Charleston, Dr. Klock was graduated about a year ago from medical college and he returned to his home at Ottumwa and opened an office and had already secured a large practice. On the night of March 18th. he was returning from a professional visit and was drowned while attempting to ford a river which was in flood. His body was recovered the next day. Mr. Henry Klock, the young doctor's son, left Tioga county for the West soon after he came home from the war. His life has been full of sad experiences. Of his seven children only two daughters are now left. Old and feeble, he is now deprived of the only son, in whom he took so much pride and on whom he depended.
