2 Monuments ON FROST PARKWAY
3 Tiffin Police and Fire All Patriots Memorial The 9/11 Memorial was dedicated on September 9, Chris Hafley, a local firefighter, came up with the idea for the 9/11 Memorial after hearing that Huron County s Fraternal Order of Leatherheads received a beam from the wreckage of the September 2011 attack. The monument was designed by Michael Work, who was the son-in-law of Hafley. The approval for the beam came on June 20, In August, four firefighters Captain Matt Palmer, Chris Hafley, Gary Amlin, and Mark Wagner traveled to New Jersey to pick up the beam and delivered it back to Tiffin. The beam is about seventeen and a half feet long and weighs around 6,200 pounds. The memorial is located in the All Patriots Memorial Park.
4 Tiffin Police and Fire All Patriots Memorial Each piece of the memorial signifies the different aspects of the attack: The beam is set at a 9.11 degree angle Never Forget The number M-18 is the investigator s identification number Behind the memorial, the Callery pear tree matches the Survivor Tree in NYC The monument itself is shaped like the Pentagon, with the opening where it had been attacked The post to the rear of the monument is for Flight 93 and sits 40 inches high for each of the passengers and crew The dirt mound in the rear symbolizes the crash site of Flight 93 Included in the monument are names of Tiffin police and fire who have fallen in the line of duty

6 World War II Monument Located along Frost Parkway is a marble statue commemorating those from Seneca County who gave their life to protect their country. The list of names on the memorial are all those who lost their lives in the line of duty during the war. The memorial was dedicated at the beginning of 2017.
7 War of 1812 & Civil War Monument The Civil War Monument, also known as the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, was dedicated on July 3, The monument is located on Frost Parkway on the site of the old Fort Ball and the village of Oakley. At first the monument was going to be placed on the courthouse lawn, but the majority voted to place it along Frost Parkway and Water Street. The base stone, which was made of Westerfield granite, was laid on May 8, The monument weighs up to 16 tons and 300 pounds. Each face front has its own inscription: East front- Shiloh, Vicksburg, Gettysburg, Seneca County to her Loyal Soldiers North Front- Atlanta, Antietam, Appomattox, Fort Ball 1812 West Front- Nashville, Cedar Creek, Wilderness South Front- Resaca, Stone River, Mission Ridge The dedication honored both the Army and Navy who died fighting for Seneca County and their country. The Army and Navy were both represented in guarding the monument during the dedication in 1885.
8 World War I Plaque
9 Korean War Memorial Located along Frost Parkway near the World War II Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, and the Soldier and Sailors Monument is the Korean War Memorial. This memorial commemorates the men from Seneca County that served their country. The names on the back are those that lost their lives.
10 Vietnam War Monument The Vietnam Memorial was dedicated on March 30, The Vietnam War memorial was the last to be built in the area. The memorial is dedicated to local veterans and the twenty-seven men who lost their lives whom where from the region. The extra money raised for the memorial was placed in a fund to fix other war memorials in the area and create a college scholarship. The memorial was unveiled by Vietnam War veterans Joe Feasel and Joe Hartzell. The organization for the unveiling and organization for this memorial came from Brigadier General Mark Scheid.

12 Fort Ball Sycamore Tree This tree sprouted in the 1800s and was near or within the site of the original Fort Ball. Fort Ball, completed in July of 1813, was erected on the west banks of the Sandusky River at a point, which today is the foot of Miami Street in Tiffin.
13 Religious Monuments AT ST. FRANCIS
14 St. Francis Statue & original Sacred Heart Statue The statues of St. Francis and the original Sacred Heart Statue were unveiled in 1944 in observance of the Diamond Jubilee of the founding of the community. The original Sacred Heart Statue was destroyed by an F-3 tornado on November 10, On June 26, 2004, the new Sacred Heart statue was dedicated in celebration of the anniversary 135 th congregation.
15 Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette Soubirous The statues of Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette Soubirous are located within the grotto in the St. Francis community. The statues were built in summer 1901 by several seminarians and orphan boys supervised by Father Jacob Eugster from Josephinum in Columbus. The grotto was based off of the grotto that Father Eugster saw in Lourdes, France. The grotto was completed in 1902 and blessed by the Father on May 4, The blessing by Father Eugster was assisted by Father John Perez of St. Joseph s Parish.
16 St. Clare Statue ( Gaze Upon the Land ) The 300-pound bronze statue of St. Clare is located near the grotto. The statue, sculpted by Joe Anne Cousino and her son, Richard, was commissioned for the Sisters of St. Francis and was dedicated on October 3, The statue was produced through the lost wax process. The lost wax process is when the casting comes from an original sculpture. St. Clare lived between 1194 and She was a follower of St Francis of Assisi and the founder of the order Poor Clares. As part of the statue, she holds a mirror that symbolizes her deep contemplative stance.
17 Statues AT ST. JOSEPH S CATHOLIC CHURCH & ST. MARY S CATHOLIC CHURCH
18 St. Joseph holding Child Jesus Located in the front of St. Joseph s church is the statue of St. Joseph holding the Child Jesus. This statue was dedicated on June 13, The statue and fountain were donated by the Jim Zirger family in memory of Clara Zirger. The landscaping was completed by Dan Vera, head of Mohawk Nursery.
19 Our Lady of Victory and St. Joseph Statues The statues of Our Lady of Victory and St. Joseph Statues are located in front of the Holy Family Hall or the convent at St. Joseph s Catholic Church.
20 Blessed Virgin Mary Located in the courtyard between St. Mary s Catholic Church and the Powerhouse is the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The site where she now stands was cleaned from a catch-all space to a serene environment for prayer. This statue was blessed on August 15, 2013 on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. Landscaping was done by Dan Vera and the Mohawk Nursery.
21 Blessed Mother of Jesus Donated in approximately 2009 in remembrance of Theresa Martorana, the statue of the Blessed Mother of Jesus is located in the St. Mary s Catholic Church s garden. This statue is located near to the St. Christopher bird bath statue.
22 Art AT HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY AND TIFFIN UNIVERSITY
23 A River of Change Located outside of the Hayes Art Building at Tiffin University, A River of Change was erected on April 27, Judith Greavu, a professor from Ohio Northern University, has sculptures all over the country. The funding for the sculpture was from the National Machinery Foundation of Tiffin. The piece of glass weighs 20 pounds and sits within the sculpture made of bronze. The total weight of the sculpture is 970 pounds.
24 Music Mural A mural was completed in the fall of 2015 as a tribute to Tiffin University s Music Department. The mural was done by team of students overseen by Joseph Van Kerkhove. This was the first project on campus completed by an art team.
25 A Walk with Granddad Sculptor Donald Lundstrom was commissioned with the task of creating a statue of P.M. and Michael Gillmor and was dedicated on June 24, 2006.
26 The Rising A towering sculpture done by Bret Price, The Rising was a gift from James F. Dicke. Dicke is known to have donated hundreds of artworks to the university along with funds to buy the Octagon House near campus. The Rising is located at the south entrance of the Gillmor Science Building.
27 Essence of Liberal Arts In 2008, sculptor Erik Blome created the piece of art that stands in the middle of the Heidelberg campus in front of the Gillmor Science Building. This towering sculpture has four depictions that help describe the life at Heidelberg University: the variety of sports that the university offers, a class in the midst of a science experiment, student life in the midst of the campus, and finer arts. The metal sculpture was a gift from the class of 1958.
28 City Monuments FROST PARKWAY, HEDGES-BOYER PARK, & DOWNTOWN TIFFIN
29 Indian Maiden The Indian Maiden was unveiled in Tiffin on October 11, 1926 along Frost Parkway. The funding for the maiden came from Meshech Frost, who contributed the funds for the enhancement of the riverbank. Previously Water Street, it was renamed Frost Parkway in his honor. The twelve-feet-high statue was sculpted by a French sculptor Leonard Crunelle. The casting was in bronze while the base of the sculptor was made from granite. The statue itself honors the Native Americans and soldiers present during the construction of Fort Ball during the War of Fort Ball was then settled on by Erastus Bowe which led to the development around Fort Ball. The statue stood on the site of the fort for about a hundred years until it was relocated. The Indian Maiden is bears the inscription This Indian Maiden keeps ceaseless watch where red men and sturdy pioneers drank from the spring whose sparkling waters flowed within the stockade of old Fort Ball.
30 Josiah Hedges Erected approximately January 10,1940, the Josiah Hedges statue stands at about twelve feet tall. The statue was originally located on the courthouse lawn until it was moved to Hedges-Boyer Park. The statue was given as a gift to the county from the late Dr. Frank E. M. Baldwin, the grandson of Josiah Hedges. White Georgia Marble was used in creating the statue, while granite was used for the base. Sculpted by Edward M. Knoblaugh of Toledo. Inscribed in the base: Josiah Hedges, Founder of Tiffin Erected by Frank E. M. Baldwin, his grandson
31 Squirrels In 2005, the city of Tiffin decided to start a theme of squirrel statues throughout the town. Each of the 25 squirrel statues were bought by a business and decorated to the business s history or liking. Six squirrels remain, some on private property. The two main squirrels still in view for the public are downtown. They are located next to the Ritz Theater and Elmwood Assisted Living.
32 Mural City Lot #7 Located on the north wall the Supance and Howard Building, a mural was painted to honor and give tribute to Tiffin and Ohio. The mural was commissioned by Leadership Seneca County as part of the Tiffin Downtown Strategic Plan. The artist is Kymberlee Wood. The mural on City Lot #7 is depicted into frames or arches. The first arch is a tribute to Tiffin, while the third one tributes Ohio. The middle arch or frame is a depiction of 1950s Tiffin.
33 Home from the Library Home from The Library was erected to celebrate the 120 th anniversary of the founding of the library. The statue, made of cement, shows a little boy pulling a wagon with a little girl reading a book. The statue was dedicated on Sunday September 17, The sculptor for this piece is Don Lundstrom. The statue was paid for by the Hixon Fund in Memory of Robert Hixon. The plaque reads: Home from The Library In Appreciation of His Legacy To Tiffin-Seneca Public Library Robert W. Hixon
34 William Harvey Gibson On the Seneca County Courthouse lawn stands the thirty-foot statue of William Harvey Gibson. The statue was created by James B. King and was erected by the Hughes Granite and Marble Co. On the base of the statue is a depiction of President William McKinley delivering the eulogy at General Gibson s funeral. Another depiction on a plaque mounted on the monument shows General Gibson giving his famous speech in Melmore, Ohio in William Harvey Gibson was born in Jefferson County on May 16, Before the year was over, Gibson moved to Seneca County. As a young man he was a carpenter and helped his father. Eventually he went to Ashland College to study law. He helped organize the Republican Party in Ohio. In 1855, he was elected the treasurer of Ohio. He was commissioned as a colonel during the Civil War in the 49 th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. After the war he returned to continue to practice law. Eventually he set up the town of Gibsonburg. In 1894, General William Harvey Gibson died in Fort Ball.
