AN INVITATION TO CHRISTIANS UNITE IN WORSHIPING CHRIST AND PRAY FOR HIS LORDSHIP IN EVERY PERSON, PLACE AND SITUATION IN OUR NATION When: August 1 December 31 How: Worshiping Christ and Praying for His Rule/Presence Using 153 of His Names and Attributes WHAT WE ARE PROPOSING WITH THESE NAMES AND ATTRIBUTES OF CHRIST The 153 names and attributes of Christ below (one for each day August 1 December 31), are meant to be a Portrait of Christ, from the Old and New Testaments. Christ fulfills all the promises, prophecies, revelations and works of God, and He is vast beyond compare. At this crucial time in history, He alone is our hope. Man s best plans and resources are grossly inadequate to overcome the challenges and needs of the Church and all people. Fellow Christians--from every congregation, ministry, ethnic group, age, gender and city in America---let us unite in using these 153 names and attributes of Christ to: (1) know Him more (2) worship and honor Him continually, and (3) fervently pray that He will rule and reign in our lives, in every other person in our spheres of influence, and in every person, place and situation across this nation (especially in our local and national leaders). HOW EVERY CHRISTIAN CAN FIX OUR EYES UPON JESUS TOGETHER 1. Read the Scripture passage of the day a couple times and freshly devote ourselves to following Christ. 2. Worship Christ throughout each day according to His name/attribute of the day (be filled with awe and praise of His greatness and glory). 3. Pray continually (according to His name/attribute of the day) that Christ will rule in EVERY part of your life, in EVERY other person and situation He brings into your life throughout the day, and in EVERY person, place and situation that affects our nation. What will God do if multitudes of believers saturate our spheres of influence with continuous worship of His beloved Son during the upc0ming 153 days? What will God do in countless homes, churches, workplaces, schools, youth groups, local and national leaders, natural and manmade crises, the economy, and much more, if we fervently invite Christ to rule and reign in the authority of His names and attributes? May we be desperate for the manifest presence of Christ. Feel free to use the names and attributes of Christ tool however God directs. Pass it on to others. Use it in small groups. Put it on your website, on Facebook, etc. Challenge youth to be consumed in Christ. Begin on August 1 st or any other time during the 153 days. If you have questions or insights, please Steve Hall at stevehall_irm@msn.com. CHRIST IS ALL. COMMANDER OF THE ARMY OF THE LORD August 1 Joshua 5:13-15 Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to Him and asked, Are you for us or for our enemies? Neither, He replied, but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come. Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked Him, What message does my Lord have for His servant? The commander of the Lord s army replied, Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy. And Joshua did so. KINSMAN-REDEEMER August 2 Ruth 4:13-17 Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. Then he went to her, and the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. The women said to Naomi: Praise be to the Lord who this day has not left you without a kinsman-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth. Then Naomi took the child, laid him in her lap and cared for him. The women living there said, Naomi has a son. And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David. THE RULER OF ALL THINGS August 3 1 Chronicles 29:10-13 David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly, saying, Praise be to you, O Lord, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. MY INTERCESSOR August 4 Job 16:18-21 O earth, do not cover my blood; may my cry never be laid to rest! Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high. My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man He pleads with God as a man pleads for his friend. 1

HIS ANOINTED ONE August 5 Psalm 2:1-9 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against His Anointed One. Let us break their chains, they say, and throw off their fetters. The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. Then He rebukes them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath, saying I have installed My king on Zion, My holy hill. I will proclaim the decree of the Lord: He said to Me, You are My Son; today I have become your Father. Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery. A REFUGE FOR THE OPPRESSED August 6 Psalm 9:7-10 The Lord reigns forever; He has established His throne for judgment. He will judge the world in righteousness; He will govern the peoples with justice. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. THE HELPER OF THE FATHERLESS August 7 Psalm 10:12-15 Arise, Lord! Lift up your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless. Why does the wicked man revile God? Why does he say to himself, He won t call me to account? But you, O God, do see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless. Break the arm of the wicked and evil man; call him to account for his wickedness that would not be found out. KING FOREVER AND EVER August 8 Psalm 10:16-18 The Lord is King for ever and ever; the nations will perish from His land. You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more. MY STRENGTH August 9 Psalm 18:1-3 I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. MY FORTRESS August 10 Psalm 18:1-3 I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. MY SHEPHERD August 11 Psalm 23:1-6 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. THE KING OF GLORY August 12 Psalm 24:7-10 Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is He, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty He is the King of glory. THE LORD STRONG AND MIGHTY August 13 Psalm 24:7-10 Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is He, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty He is the King of glory. THE STRONGHOLD OF MY LIFE August 14 Psalm 27:1-3 The Lord is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid? When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident. LORD, THE GOD OF TRUTH August 15 Psalm 31:1-8 In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your 2

name lead and guide me. Free me from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me from the trap that is set before me, for you are my refuge. Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O Lord, the God of truth. I hate those to cling to worthless idols, I trust in the Lord. I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul. You have not handed me over to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place. MY HIDING PLACE August 16 Psalm 32:6-7 Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. MY HELP AND MY DELIVERER August 17 Psalm 40:17 Yet I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do not delay. THE LIVING GOD August 18 Psalm 42:1-2 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? AN EVER-PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE August 19 Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. THE LORD MOST HIGH August 20 Psalm 47:1-2 Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth! He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet. He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom He loved. God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. THE GREAT KING OVER ALL THE EARTH August 21 Psalm 47:1-2 Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth! He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet. He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom He loved. God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets. Since praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. OUR GOD FOR EVER AND EVER August 22 Psalm 48:10-14 Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness. Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments. Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation. For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end. OUR GUIDE EVEN TO THE END August 23 Psalm 48:10-14 Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness. Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments. Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation. For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end. THE ROCK THAT IS HIGHER THAN I August 24 Psalm 61:1-5 Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. For I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL August 25 Psalm 89:14-18 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you. Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord. They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness. For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor you exalt our horn. Indeed, our shield belongs to the Lord, our king to the Holy One of Israel. OUR DWELLING PLACE August 26 Psalm 90:1-2 Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. 3

THE ROCK OF OUR SALVATION August 27 Psalm 95:1-7a Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the Great King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker, for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care. THE LORD OF ALL THE EARTH August 28 Psalm 97:4-7, 9 His (the Lord s) lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory. All who worship images are put to shame, those who boast in idols worship Him, all you gods. For you, O Lord, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. THE LORD THE KING August 29 Psalm 98:4-9 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram s horn shout for joy before the Lord, the King. Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy; let them sing before the Lord, for He comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity. A PRIEST FOREVER IN THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK August 30 Psalm 110:1-7 The Lord says to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet. The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion; you will rule in the midst of your enemies. Your troop will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy majesty, from the womb of the dawn you will receive the dew of your youth. The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind: You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. The Lord is at your right hand; He will crush kings on the day of His wrath. He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth. He will drink from a brook beside the way; therefore He will lift up His head. HOLY AND AWESOME August 31 Psalm 111:1-10 Praise the Lord. I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly. Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are His deeds, and His righteousness endures forever. He has caused His wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate. He provides food for those who fear Him; He remembers His covenant forever. He has shown His people the power of His works, giving them the lands of other nations. The works of His hands are faithful and just; all His precepts are trustworthy. They are steadfast for ever and ever, done in faithfulness and uprightness. He provided redemption for His people; He ordained His covenant forever--holy and awesome is His name. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts have good understanding. To Him belongs eternal praise. MY PORTION September 1 Psalm 119:57-58, You are my portion, O Lord; I have promised to obey your words. I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws. I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts. The earth is filled with your love, O Lord; teach me your decrees. THE MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH September 2 Psalm 121:1-8 I lift up my eyes to the hills where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore. THE BRANCH OF THE LORD September 3 Isaiah 4:2 In that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel. A CANOPY September 4 Isaiah 4:5-6 The Lord will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy. It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain. A GREAT LIGHT September 5 Isaiah 9:2-4 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as men rejoice when 4

He will reign on David s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. He will reign on David s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. A SHOOT.FROM THE STUMP OF JESSE September 10 Isaiah 11:1-9 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest upon Him the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord and He will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what He sees with His eyes, or decide by what He hears with His ears; but with righteousness He will judge the needy, with justice He will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth; with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be His belt and faithfulness the sash around His waist. The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together, and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all My holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. In that day you will say: Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done, and proclaim that His name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for He has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you. 5

THE WELLS OF SALVATION September 14 Isaiah 12:1-6 In that day you will say: I will praise you, O Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. A REFUGE FOR THE POOR September 15 Isaiah 25:1-5 O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago. You have made the city a heap of rubble, the fortified town a ruin, the foreigner s stronghold a city no more; it will never be rebuilt. Therefore strong peoples will honor you; cities of ruthless nations will revere you. You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm driving against a wall and like the heat of the desert. You silence the uproar of foreigners; as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud, so the song of the ruthless is stilled. A SHELTER FROM THE STORM September 16 Isaiah 25:1-5 O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago. A TESTED STONE September 17 Isaiah 28:16-17a So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed. I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line A SURE FOUNDATION September 18 Isaiah 28:16-17a So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed. I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line THE SPLENDOR OF OUR GOD September 19 Isaiah 35:1-2 The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God. THE EVERLASTING GOD September 20 Isaiah 40:28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. THE CREATOR OF THE ENDS OF THE EARTH September 21 Isaiah 40:28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. MY CHOSEN ONE September 22 Isaiah 42:1 Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put My Spirit on Him and He will bring justice to the nations. A LIGHT FOR THE GENTILES September 23 Isaiah 49:5-7 And now the Lord says He who formed me in the womb to be His servant to bring Jacob back to Him and gather Israel to Himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord and my God has been my strength He says: It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth. This is what the Lord says the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel to Him who was despised and abhorred by the nation, to the servant of rulers: Kings will see you and rise up, princes will see and bow down, because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you. THE MIGHTY ONE OF JACOB September 24 Isaiah 49:24-26 Can plunder be taken from warriors, or captives rescued from the fierce? But this is what the Lord says: Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunder retrieved from the fierce; I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I 6

will save. I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will be drunk on their own blood, as with wine. Then all mankind will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. THE ARM OF THE LORD September 25 Isaiah 53:1-3, 12 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we esteemed Him not. Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him, and afflicted. Therefore I will give Him a portion among the great, and He will divide the spoils with the strong, because He poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For He bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors. A TENDER SHOOT September 26 Isaiah 53:1-3, 12 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? A ROOT OUT OF DRY GROUND September 27 Isaiah 53:1-3, 12 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? MAN OF SORROWS September 28 Isaiah 53:1-3, 12 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? MY RIGHTEOUS SERVANT September 29 Isaiah 53:6-11 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him (Christ) the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so He did not open His mouth. By oppression and judgment He was taken away. And who can speak of His descendants? For He was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people He was stricken. He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death, though He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth. Yet it was the Lord s will to crush Him and cause Him to suffer, and though the Lord makes His life a guilt offering, He will see His offspring and prolong His days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in His hand. After the suffering of His soul, He will see the light of life, and be satisfied; by His knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and He will bear their iniquities. THE HIGH AND LOFTY ONE September 30 Isaiah 57:14-15 And it will be said: Build up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people. For this is what the high and lofty One says He who lives forever, whose name is holy: I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. EVERLASTING LIGHT October 1 Isaiah 60:19-20 The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. BALM IN GILEAD October 2 Jeremiah 8:18-22 O my Comforter in sorrow, my heart is faint within me. Listen to the cry of my people from a land far away. Is the Lord not in Zion? Is her King no longer there? Why have they provoked me to anger with their images, with their worthless foreign idols? The harvest is past, the summer has ended, and we are not saved. Since my people are crushed, I am crushed. I mourn, and horror grips me. Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people? 7

THE SPRING OF LIVING WATER October 3 Jeremiah 17:13 O Lord, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the Lord, the spring of living water. SOVEREIGN LORD October 4 Jeremiah 32:17-19 Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth, by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. You show love to thousands but bring the punishment for the fathers sins into the laps of their children after them. O great and powerful God, whose name is the Lord Almighty, great is your purposes and mighty is your deeds. THE KING OF HEAVEN October 5 Daniel 4:37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything He does is right and all His ways are just. And those who walk in pride He is able to humble. THE ANCIENT OF DAYS October 6 Daniel 7:8-10 While I (Daniel) was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth that spoke boastfully. As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of His head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before Him. Thousands upon thousands attended Him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, and the books were opened. THE DESIRED OF ALL NATIONS October 7 Haggai 2:7-9 I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory says the Lord Almighty. The silver is mine and the gold is mine, declares the Lord Almighty. The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house, says the Lord Almighty. THE MESSENGER OF THE COVENANT October 8 Malachi 3:1 See, I will send My messenger, who will prepare the way before Me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to His temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come, says the Lord Almighty. A REFINER AND PURIFIER OF SILVER October 9 Malachi 3:2-4 But who can endure the day of His (Christ s) coming? Who can stand when He appears? For He will be like a refiner s fire or a launderer s soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; He will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness, and the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the Lord, as in days gone by, as in former years. THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS October 10 Malachi 4:2-3 But for you who revere My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. Then you will trample down the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things, says the Lord Almighty. JESUS October 11 Matthew 1:21 She (Mary) will give birth to a son, and you (Joseph) are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins. IMMANUEL, GOD WITH US October 12 Matthew 1:22-23 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet (Isaiah): The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel which means. God with us. THE LORD OF THE HARVEST October 13 Matthew 9:35-37 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field. A RANSOM FOR MANY October 14 Matthew 20:25-28 Jesus called them (His disciples) together and said, You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to give His life as a ransom for many. 8

THE SON OF DAVID October 15 Matthew 21:6-11 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of Him and those that followed shouted, Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest! When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, Who is this? The crowds answered, This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee. THE KING OF THE JEWS October 16 Matthew 27:27-37 Then the governor s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around Him. They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him, and they twisted together a crown of thorns on His head. They put a staff in His right hand and knelt in front of Him and mocked Him. Hail, king of the Jews! they said. They spit on Him, and took the staff and struck Him on the head again and again. After they had mocked Him, they took off the robe and put His own clothes on Him. Then they led Him away to crucify Him. As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. They came to a place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull). There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, He refused to drink it. When they had crucified Him, they divided up His clothes by casting lots. And sitting down, they kept watch over Him there. Above His head they placed the written charge against Him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS. THE HOLY ONE OF GOD October 17 Mark 1: They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. The people were amazed at His teaching, because He taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out, What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are the Holy One of God! THE SON OF MAN October 18 Mark 10:42-45 Jesus called them (His disciples) together and said, You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many. THE SON OF THE MOST HIGH October 19 Luke 1:26-35 In the sixth month (of Elizabeth s pregnancy), God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you. Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; His kingdom will never end. How can this be, Mary asked the angel, since I am a virgin? The angel answered, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. A HORN OF SALVATION October 20 Luke 1:67-75 His (John the Baptist s) father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied: Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has come and has redeemed His people. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David (as He said through His holy prophets of long ago), salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us to show mercy to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant, the oath He swore to our father Abraham: to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve Him without fear in holiness and righteousness before Him all our days. A SAVIOR October 21 Luke 2:8-14 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests. CHRIST THE LORD October 22 Luke 2:8-14 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9

A GREAT PROPHET October 23 Luke 7:11-17 Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and His disciples and a large crowd went along with Him. As He approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, His heart went out to her, and He said, Don t cry. Then He went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, Young man, I say to you, get up! The dead man sat up, and he began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. They were all filled with awe and praised God. A great prophet has appeared among us, they said. God has come to help His people. This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country. A FRIEND OF TAX COLLECTORS AND SINNERS October 24 Luke 7:33-34 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, He has a demon. The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners. MASTER October 25 Luke 8:22-25 One day Jesus said to His disciples, Let s go over to the other side of the lake. So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, He fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke Him, saying, Master, Master, we re going to drown! He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. Where is your faith? He asked His disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him. THE CHRIST OF GOD October 26 Luke 9:20 Once when Jesus was praying in private and His disciples were with Him, He asked them, Who do the crowds say I am? They replied, Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life. But what about you? He asked. Who do you say that I am? Peter answered, The Christ of God. THE WORD October 27 John 1:1-4, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. THE LIGHT OF MEN October 28 John 1:1-5, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us THE LAMB OF GOD October 29 John 1:23-27, John (the Baptist) replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, I am the voice of one calling in the desert, Make straight the way for the Lord. Now some Pharisees who had been sent questioned him, Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet? I baptize with water, John replied, but among you stands one you do not know. He is the one who comes after me, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I meant when I said, A man who comes after me has surpassed me because He was before me. THE SON OF GOD October 30 John 1:32-34 Then John gave this testimony: I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on Him (Jesus). I would not have known Him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is He who will baptize with the Holy Spirit. I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God. RABBI October 31 John 3:1-3 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him. In reply Jesus declared, I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. ONE AND ONLY SON November 1 John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. 10
