It lasted from May 5th until May 8th. Eighteen people went, including six eighth graders, teachers, parents, family members, and Mr. Beadle. They all had a really great time and saw many great things. The group toured monuments and several museums. They even toured the White House! I mean WOW! They also went to the Arlington National Cemetery to see the changing of the guard. Now that...that is what I call amazing! One night they even went into an escape room; whatever that is. They found their way out and had fun. Now, this is what I would call A trip to Washington, D.C.! Class Verse Matthew 5:1 12 NIV: Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount The eighth grade class chose The Beatitudes for their class verse because all of them chose to choose God and be peacemakers because they re all the children of God. I think the eighth grade will choose to be kind to people in high school. I wish the eighth grade a lucky life. by L.J.Berry Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. 51 His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them. The Beatitudes He said: 3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

2 Page 2 VOLUME 16 Kristian Kristian Anthony Larimer was born on November 17, His favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9. It says, Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Kristian has been attending this school since kindergarten, by the way; that is 9 years for him. Out of all of the teachers in the school, his favorites are pretty split. His favorite teachers are Mrs. Mollo, Mrs. McCartney, and Mrs. Pavoni. Kristian s favorite memory of his time here at school is when Louis went chair surfing. In the close future he will be attending Lockport Township High School. He said that the biggest influences in his life were his parents. One of them is the basketball coach, Coach Goss. They encouraged him to excel in basketball, and his dad kept on pushing him to be better. Kristian sees himself in ten years living in his apartment, having a girlfriend, and playing basketball in the NBA. Another thing that Kristian wants you to know about him is that his favorite food is tacos. That s a good choice Kristian. We will definitely miss him and all of the 8th grade. Gabe Gabriel Edward Conway was born July 22, His favorite Bible verse is Hebrews 4:12 NIV For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Gabe has attended CHS for 11 years. His favorite teacher is Mrs. McCartney because she gave his class a fun year! His favorite memory is watching an old man running in a Spiderman costume while on the 8th grade trip in Washington, D.C. Gabriel will be attending Intermountain Christian School in Salt Lake City, Utah in the fall. His greatest influence is his brother because he is always looking for the greater in him and expects him to be a good brother. Gabriel expects himself being in college doing computers in 10 years. His birthdate is November 8, Louis favorite Bible verse is Colossians 3:23: Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. NIV. The person who has made the biggest impact on his life is Mrs. Bergeron, because she brought him to Christ. Louis has attended CHS for 4 years; he started in 4th grade. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Pavoni because she is so nice. Louis favorite memory at CHS was when Phillip dropped water bottles and Gabe laughed his head off. The high school he will be attending is Tinley Park. Louis sees himself in 10 years in an apartment, having a girlfriend, and a job. 3 ISSUE 8 Page 3 Aylissa Aylissa Lanya Powell was born on April 7, Her favorite Bible verse is Psalms 98:1 NIV. Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. She started attending CHS in first grade with Mrs. McCartney and has been here for seven years. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Robinson because she was funny and a great volleyball coach. Her favorite moments at CHS were when Meher walked into a wall and when Louis went chair surfing. Aylissa will be going to Thornridge High School in Dolton, IL. The people who made the biggest impact on Aylissa s life are her mom and dad because they pushed her to succeed. In ten years, she hopes to be a nurse working in a hospital. Interview by Allison Gillies & Jeremy Faustin Meher Meher Swamy was born on August 16, Her favorite Bible Verse is Psalm 15:1-5 (NIV) 1 Lord, who may dwell in you sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? 2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart 3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellow man, 4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the Lord, who keeps his oath even when it hurts, 5 who lends his money without usury and does these things will never be shaken. Meher has been going to Christian Hills for six years, from second through eighth grade. Her favorite teachers are Mrs. White and Mrs. Pavoni. She likes Mrs. White because she has spent a lot of time helping her in math class. She likes Mrs. Pavoni because she is really fun and nice. While she s been at CHS, her favorite memory is when she took her entrance test to the second grade with Mrs. McCartney. Meher will be attending Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, IL next year. Meher said her mom has made the biggest impact on her life because, she is her best friend. She says that she sees herself graduating from Pre-Med in ten years. Here are a few more facts about Meher: Her favorite animal is a penguin. Her favorite color is PINK. Her favorite ice cream flavor is mint chip. Her favorite restaurant is The Cheesecake Factory. When she has free time, she likes to watch TV, read books, play the piano, and paint. Meher is also valedictorian of her class! Phillip Phillip Harrison White was born on January 21, His favorite Bible verse is Psalm 119:9-11. It says: How can a young person stay on the path of purity? I seek you with all of my heart; do not let me stay from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Phillip has been attending CHS since preschool and has been here for 10 years. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Pavoni because she helps people who do not have the best grades improve them. Phillip will be attending Andrew High School in Tinley Park, Illinois. The person who has made the biggest impact on Phillip s life is his dad because he gets up early in the morning to provide for his family. In 10 years, Phillip sees himself living in an apartment trying to get a house. Phillip s favorite hobby is playing video games.
