Ki Tavo 2016 Deuteronomy 26:1 29:9. I. Ki Tavo is loosely translated as When you go in. However, a peculiarity is seen in the first phrase - and it shall be, ו ה י ה Vehayah. We ve recently learned that the placement of the Vav (which represents His authority in the earth) gives additional insight. In this case, we have the same letters as the Tetragrammaton - YHVH except here; the Vav is placed at the front of the Hey which represents breath or Word, thus indicating that Israel is being told they would go in to possess the Land with all the authority of His Word! In fact, His word would Ki Tavo go in before them. ל ך ו ה נ ח ת י ו י אמ ר פ נ י Moshe: In fact, Ex. 33: 14 is the place where YHVH declares to ל כו And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. Vayomer pani yilechu v hanichoti l kah. Looking at the Vav s placement again reveals that the authority or Entity who is speaking here is a different form of the visible Face called The Presence Paniym, which seems contradictory in view of verse 20 & 23 where Moshe is told YHVH s face, cannot be seen! The text makes it clear that YHVH is telling Moshe a new thing - a previously hidden thing or else Moshe would not have said in the next verse: And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. (Ex. 33:15) Didn t Moshe hear what YHVH was saying? Then why make this statement? Let me interject something else here before we go further: Remember that Deuteronomy is a rehearsal of everything said previously in the Torah with extra commentary for clarity: Furthermore, this is a prophetic shadow picture of Israel (the Outcasts) and where we are today; about to enter the Promised Land, the significance cannot be dismissed! Therefore ג לו ת H#1546, Ki Tavo has an interesting gematria that equals 439 the same as galuwth, a word meaning captivity. It comes from the root galah, which means to uncover, remove, to discover, show or reveal oneself. Israel is at the boundary of Jordan about to enter the Promised Dabar Land and YHVH is promising His authority and His PRESENCE to Israel, that they might dispossess the inhabitants
as He reveals Himself in a new way. This word galah also hints at removing the hair to uncover the ear in order to whisper a secret! As we look at the text, a physical, natural transition is simultaneously taking place: Moshe is going to be replaced by Joshua, it is now through Joshua that YHVH will reveal Himself and it seems that a secret or mystery will surround this transition and the Vav seems to represent the sanction of Joshua, as the source of the Word! This transition in the physical realm, reveals what is happening in the Spiritual and the conversation now abruptly changes direction: Why? Frankly, though Israel as a whole is about to enter, the responsibility for bringing a first-fruit offering is given to each individual who must publicly declare the Hand of YHVH in his or her deliverance. It seems National blessing is now somehow tied to individual obedience. Therefore, we need some insight here regarding these offerings. In this case, the season for bringing in the first fruit bikkurim - traditionally began at the Feast of Shavuot Pentecost, yet the connection goes back even further to the minor festival occurring during the Feast of Unleavened Bread called Yom HaBikkurim and extends all the way to the Fall Festival of Sukkot! Ironically, the word Sukkot is the plural form of H#5521, ס כ ה cukkah, and it comes from a word meaning a cover or hiding place a secret chamber. It is in this secret place that we are able to hear the hidden things of YHVH. The Cukkah is the place of intimacy; it represents the Tabernacle and is THE PLACE WHERE YHVH CHOOSES TO PUT HIS NAME the exact phrase mentioned in Deut. 26:2! Each Israelite would bring their offerings and place them in a basket is the light beginning to go off? Yahshua was born in a Cukkah, placed in a breadbasket in Bethlehem Beit Lechem The House of Bread! Incidentally, at that time, Judea was known as the Bread Basket of the Roman Empire! Are these rehearsals merely coincidental in their relation to what Israel is being told to rehearse upon entering the Land? The timing could not have been more important! Upon crossing Jordan on the 10 th of Tishri (The day the Lamb is brought into the House, the day of circumcision) Israel, after 3-days of examining the flesh, celebrates Pesach and the Manna ceased! Why? Because of the Living Word with them this was the New, Secret, Hidden thing!
The Memorial Stones at Jordan: II. Deut. 27 begins with instructions for the above crossing and the placing of Great Stones as a memorial or witness heap. *Note verse 2: And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaister them with plaister: It is the KJV word plaister that I want you to notice: H#7875,,ש יד Shiyd, Which is translated as to whitewash or cover over. Ironically, the Shin-Dalet root is cognate with the Samech-Dalet root and can be used interchangeably. Samech- Dalet spells Sod the Hebrew word for SECRET, something hidden. A knowledge kept from the casual seeker! This same Shin-Dalet root forms the Name Shaddai Indicating the One Who Takes You To His Breast To Comfort! The text indicates this heap or pillar of stones is erected upon Mt. Eybal (verse 4) H#5858, ע יב ל which was the Mount of Cursing. The word Eybal comes from a root that hints at being so worn out that no purpose is served for continuing. (See Dan. 7:25). It is my opinion that these Stones were placed on Eybal rather than Gerizim, H#1630,, יםג ר ז [which most translate to cut, cut off, to separate] because the Words of the Covenant are needed much more in the times when one is worn out, barren! Ironically, Israel splits into two groups to follow the command of YHVH to pronounce the blessings and curses upon these two mountains. Gerizim has a gematria of 270, the same as H#5234,,נ כ ר which means to recognize, discern, to disguise oneself. א ל ה ים י ה ו ה as: Look at the numeric value here of Eybal: 112 the same gematria YHVH Elohiym - The One identified as standing ABOVE the ladder in Jacob s dream. He is distinct from the Ladder, (See Gen. 28 & John 1: 51) who represents the Word, and is here being introduced to Jacob by YHVH! He (THE Ladder) is the One who walked between the Pieces of Abraham s sacrifice and He is the One who would walk between the Mt s. of Blessing and Cursing on behalf of Israel! Interestingly, the Hebrew word for ladder, cullam comes from the root H#5549,,ס ל ל callal, which means to hold someone in a position of high reputation or worth, to raise someone or something up!
(See John 12: 32) And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. [Callal has a value of 120 as in the 120 th jubilee when Messiah, the Lifted-Up One is revealed again. Could the term lifted up also indicate to lift up by speaking?] 120 is also the value of H#4539,,מ ס ך macak, the word indicating the vails or curtains described in the Tabernacle and used to hide or cover, to separate. It would seem their respective numeric values tell us that the ONE who walks between the mountains is going to introduce Himself to Israel after a long absence! Zeph. 3:8 & 9 confirms that He will TURN to the people a pure language! Turn, H#2015,,ה פ ך haphak, to turn, change, transform! Israel is told in Deut. 27:8 And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly. This latter phrase: very plainly is written ב א ר ה י ט ב ba ar h yitav yitav means to do something very thoroughly while ba ar means to dig out, to explain, to engrave, to dig out the sense and to set if forth when dug out! They were to work diligently to understand the Torah and to teach it to others in the process! How the Tribes were divided: III. Six tribes were designated upon Mt. Gerizim: Simeon, to hear and accept. Levi, to be joined closely. Judah, to stand upright in praise. Issachar, there is a reward or recompense. Joseph, to increase or do again, to add to. Benjamin, the son of the Rt. Hand. Those who hear, accept and obey and are joined closely in praise, will receive a reward. YHVH will reveal again the Son of the Rt. Hand! Six tribes were designated upon Mt. Eybal: Rueben, behold a son. Gad, behold a troop, to overcome or invade. Asher, to be happy, to go straight or lead someone straight. Zebulun, to inhabit or dwell with, to exalt. Dan, to judge, to litigate on behalf of another. Naphtali, to wrestle, twist, to act perversely or deceitfully. Behold The Son who will lead a troop that will invade and overcome. He will lead straight those who dwell with and exalt Him. But, litigate and judge those who act perversely, twisting His Words!
Curiously, here, the Levites are the ones responsible for declaring the words which in this instance were only those of cursing. In response, the rest of the Nation only said one word: H#539,,א מ ן amen, which means to put trust in, to go to the Right Hand, to affirm or establish. There s a distinct peculiarity seen here: These 12 curses are related to Sin committed in Secret! Yet, nothing is said about a reward. Here Israel acknowledges that they will trust YHVH explicitly in every circumstance even when matters are hidden from human eyes and the transgressor suffers no apparent judgment. There seems to be a contradiction between what is read here and what is found in Joshua where he recites the Law. The only other connection is found in Numbers 5: where the transgression of the Adulterous Wife takes place in secret! Verse 22 is where the accused woman is also made to say Amen, Amen, in effect, like Israel here, who has played the harlot, agreeing to judge themselves and accept the curse for their secret sin whether found out by man or not! For clarity, the number 12 is the value of the Hebrew/Aramaic word Mena to weigh, to number. It has the root of Manna, the living word. Could it be, that when one ingests the Word, he s ingesting the curses written against him, the dust of the Tabernacle (the flesh of the Tabernacle Man) and the waters of Jealousy? In effect, agreeing that his/her secret sins are being truly judged. Keep the Words of this Covenant: IV. There are two verses I want to look at in conclusion: Deut. 29: 4 & 9. Verse 4 tells us that previously: Yet the YHVH hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day. What would bring about this change in revelation or understanding? This is the purpose of this entire parsha to reveal the hidden One and to show Israel that they would be Having the Word with them daily! Finally, verse 9 declares: Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do. A daily walk with Him, would be their instruction, He would reveal Himself as promised to Jacob if they would only believe and obey. We have the same promise: That the Invisible, hidden Face of YHVH can be seen and will be revealed to those who will say AMEN TO HIS WORD! Col. 1: For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to
desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the YHVH unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of YHVH; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: Shabbat Shalom!
