1 Knowledge: Distinguish: to how one thing is different than another thing Past: something that has already happen Present: something that is happening right now Future: something that has not happened yet Create: to make Calendar: a chart showing the days, weeks, and months of the year Timeline: a line showing when things happened in order from which they happened Chronology: in order from which it happened Yesterday: the day that came before I went to sleep last night Today: right now Tomorrow: the day that comes after I go to sleep tonight Understand: That the future is something we can see organized on a calendar. That the past is something we can see organized on a timeline. That a calendar tells us what days are coming ahead and a timeline tells us details about what has already happened. That we need to know the difference between past, present, and future so we can use calendars and timelines the correct way. That yesterday is in the past, today is in the present, and tomorrow is in the future. Do: To explain the differences between past, present, and future. To explain the purpose of a calendar and why we use it. To explain the purpose of a timeline and when would be an appropriate time to use one. To explain how yesterday is in the past, today is in the present, and tomorrow is in the future. Pre-Assessment Draw a calendar for any month of the year. Draw a timeline of what you did yesterday in order from which each event happened. Draw something you did yesterday (past), something you are doing right now (present), and something you want to do tomorrow (future). Assessment: Pick your favorite month of the year for 2010, or pick the month you were born in. Using the guide, begin the first day on the correct day of the week and make sure you have the correct amount of days for that month. Look at the 10 special holidays or events for your month and place the icon on the correct day that it would happen for your month.
