READ: DANIEL 5:1-3 1 Belshazzar the king made a great feast for a thousand of his lords and drank wine in the presence of the thousand. 2 While he tasted the wine, Belshazzar gave the command to bring the gold and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple which had been in Jerusalem, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them. 3 They brought the gold vessels that had been taken from the temple of the house of God which had been in Jerusalem. And the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them. 30 That night Belshazzar, king of the Chaldeans, was slain. 31 And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old. While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling. 12 He said to me, Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. And I have come because of your words. 13 The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twentyone days. Behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me. For I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.

I opened my mouth and spoke, saying to him who stood before me, My lord, because of the vision my sorrows have overwhelmed me and I have retained no strength. 17 How can this servant of my lord talk with you, my lord? As for me, no strength remains in me now, nor is any breath left in me.

Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows. For so He gives His beloved sleep. READ: EZEKIEL 3: It came to pass at the end of seven days that the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 17 Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me. 18 When I say to the wicked, You shall surely die and you give him no warning nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, That same wicked man shall die in his iniquity. But his blood I will require at your hand. 19 Yet, if you warn the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness nor from his wicked way, He shall die in his iniquity; But you have delivered your soul. READ: EZEKIEL 33:1-9 1 Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 Son of man, speak to the children of your people and say to them: When I bring the sword upon a land and the people of the land take a man from their territory and make him their watchman, 3 When he sees the sword coming upon the land, if he blows the trumpet and warns the people, 4 Then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and does not take warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be on his own head. 5 He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning; His blood shall be upon himself.
