3 SPECIAL NOTE 1. If you are taking this course for college credit you must turn in a notebook containing all written assignments and take all examinations. 2. If you are taking this course for a Bible Certificate you must turn in a notebook containing steps 3 and take all examinations. 3. If you are taking this course for personal enrichment you do not have to turn in a notebook nor take any examinations. INTRODUCTION This course is a study on the book of Isaiah. It is important that you use the King James or New King James Version of the Bible and the assigned textbook to answer your study questions. The syllabus may contain answers to a few questions. The textbooks suitable for this course are: BE COMFORTED (Isaiah) by Warren W. Wiersbe published by David C. Cook, 2010 and ISAIAH Tyndale Old Testament Commentaries by J. Alec Motyer published by IVP Academic, It is recommended that you read the article on Isaiah in the 1915 edition of the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, the Unger s Bible Dictionary, the Holman Bible Dictionary or any other conservative Bible dictionary and commentaries. This course will focus on the book of Isaiah. Isaiah is often called the eagle eyed prophet because he prophesied about the coming of Christ over seven hundred years before His birth. The prophet Isaiah also prophesied about end time events. Jesus and other New Testament writers quoted from the book of Isaiah more than any other book of the Old Testament. Upon completion of this course you should be able to summarize the major prophecies in the book of Isaiah; explain why this entire book was written by the prophet Isaiah; state reasons why some scholars do not believe that Isaiah wrote this book; be able to interpret this book in its historical setting; list the number of years Isaiah prophesied and list the kings who lived during the time of his prophecies.
