T [h] urah {Torah} Portions with Haftarah & the Good News Lech Lecha {You go/go out} In general, Barashiyth {Genesis} 12:1-13:18 seems to be focus on the land. Barashiyth {Genesis} 15:1-21 seems to give equal time to both land and descendants. Barashiyth {Genesis} 16:1-17:27 seems to focus on the descendants. As you can see, land and descendants have become the dominant themes. These two themes will continue to dominate the remainder of the book of Barashiyth {Genesis}. Therefore, we must always keep them in mind as we try to interpret the narratives of this book. Remember, this Paraha is primarily about a land for the future descendants/nation of Abram. In Barashiyth {Genesis} 1-11 Yahuah is dealing with mankind on a universal level, whereas in Barashiyth {Genesis} He is dealing with an individual and his descendants. Mankind, as a whole, failed to relate properly to Yahuah and each other (Barashiyth {Genesis} 1-11). Now, the new plan calls for building a nation from the descendants of one man that will be characterized by righteousness. In this manner, this nation will be a blessing to all mankind, showing them the One and Only True Alahiym. T [h] urah {Torah} Haftarah Good-News Barashiyth (Genesis) 12:1-17:27 Yashayahu (Isaiah) 40:27-41:16 Mattithyahu (Matthew) 1:1-17 Note: Bara. 11: Haran died in the face of His father Terach. Barashiyth (Genesis) Bara. 12:1-3. I will make you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. [Through Abraham the whole world will be blessd] Bara. 12:7-8 Galatians 3:13-16 Mashiyach (Messiah) I will give your seed this redeemed us from the curse of land Abram built an alter the Law {Dabariym/Deut. 21:23} having become And called on the Name a curse for us for it is written Of Yahuah {יהוה} Curse is everyone who hangs upon a tree. Breakdown below Before we get started with the lesson. I want to go over another way scripture starts to interpret scripture. We are familiar with Yashayahu Chapter 28: Is. 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. o Heb. 5:12 For when for the time you ought to be teachers, you have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of Alahiym; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
o Heb. 5:13 For every one that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. o Heb. 5:14 But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Is. 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: Is. 28:11 For with stammering [foreign language/barbarous tongue] lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. Is. 28:12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith you may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. Is. 28:13 But the word of Yahuah was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. {A commandment went forth [2 words אמר and Gen. 14:1 And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel שער Shinar: The root could be שנער origin. {Maybe a Akk. Or have Babylonian {אמרפל = together put אפל king of Shinar Casting Out, or Scattering In All Manner Of Ways}, Arioch אריוך} Lion like man} אלסר}. possibly of king of Ellasar Babylonian origin carried over as 2 words put together from אל and יסר whom Al chastens}, Chedorlaomer A handful of sheaves/first-fruit} king of Elam {eternity {עילם, and Tidal תדעל} fear: Of a Samaritan root} king of nations גוי} O Nations} ; Gen. 14:2 That these (He) {son s of evil ברע from 2 words בן רע possibly made war with Bera Babylonian/Arabic/Aramaic origin}. king of Sodom סדם} burn}, and with Birsha breakdown of 2 words; בן רשע } king of Gomorrah עמרה} habitation/subersion}, Shinab /tooth of father/ father consuming} king of Admah אדמה} earth [earthly]}, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar. {Of Persian origin. Son of wickedness. Possible ברשע} literally father of tooth שנאב} We know this is one way to understand scripture. The Ruach {Spirit} Helps, lead and guide as well. I want to share another understand of this text called an Atbash.אתבש How this works is very interesting. The idea here is that the alef, which is the first letter of the alf-bet, is mirrored by the last letter and the second-to-first letter is mirrored by the second-to-last letter, third-to-first by third-to-last etcetera, etcetera The understanding here is that the t [h] urah might use such a pattern, not just in terms of letters, but in terms of laying out larger sections of text. So you might find yourself reading a passage in the t [h] urah and saying, hey you know the first part of this passage really sounds like the last part of the passage. The second of first part of the passage really sounds like the second to last part of the passage. Basically the first letter א is mirrored to the last letter.ת The second letter is mirrored to the second to last letter in the alef-bet. You are eventually converging towards the center. This kind of Atbash pattern is a chiasm. This is how scripture can pack a lot of meanings into a short form to understand His Word when it meets in the center. Let us take an example since it is apart
of this t [h] urah portion Prov. 25:2 It is the esteem of Alahiym to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter. The Atbash Pattern Gen. 17:3 And Abram fell on his face: and Alahiym talked with him, saying, Gen. 17:4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. Gen. 17:5 Neither shall your name any more be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made you. Gen. 17:6 And I will make you exceeding fruitful, and I will make {Notice if He does this nations of you, and kings shall come out of you. covenant and others as well, they will be apart of this covenant, nations, and kings shall come out. This covenant is essential to us}. Gen. 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your seed after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a Alahiym unto you, and to your seed after you. {This covenant is a physical covenant and is established in mans flesh}. {Here is a Atbash within a atbash}. Gen. 17:8 And I will give unto you, and to your seed after you, the land wherein you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their Alahiym. Gen. 17:9 And Alahiym said unto Abraham, You shall keep my covenant therefore, you, and your seed after you in their generations. Gen. 17:10 This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your seed after you; Every man child among you shall be {The center of this atbash pattern is circumcised. Keep His covenant, and He will keep it with you} Gen. 17:11 And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant between me and you. {Take note in this many atbash. He will be the Alahiym to the Circumcised. And in the middle of this they the covenanted people will get land. The Message is the land is contingent on the Brit[h]. see: Yahusha {Joshua} 5:2-12. they must be circumcised before entering into the land}. Gen. 17:12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your

The seed. more who does this after Abraham the more children He has. This is why we are called the children of Alahiym. Women are to have a circumcised heart, more on this later}. Gen. 17:13 He that is born in your house, and he that is bought with your money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. Gen. 17:14 And the uncircumcised man-child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant. {Notice everyone not circumcised would be cut off. They will not be apart of the covenant}. Gen. 17:15 And Alahiym said unto Abraham, As for S [h] araiy your wife, you shall not call her name S [h] araiy, but S [h] arah shall her name be. Gen. 17:16 And I will bless her, and give you a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her. Gen. 17:17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? How to understand Scripture: Prayer. Ask Yahuah to send His ruach to help you in your studying Understand line by line and precept upon precept. Read in context first. Make sure you understand the literal topic. Search out key Words in the writings. Meaning look them up in a Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek dictionary. Do not read randomly. Setup some topics and some form of outline. Get a foundation of the belief. If your foundation is challenged, use that as a study tool. Know what Scripture is. What is Light? What is faith? What is love? What is grace/favor? What are the requirements to be in the Kingdom? What is the purpose for the Laws and the Commandments? Who is the Father and who is the Son? What was the purpose for the Son. What makes us saved? What is a believer/saint? What is the purpose of the Covenant? How many covenants are their and identify them? What were you made for? How do I prepare for His return? Learn about Feast Days. These are just a few things to help build a foundation. Have a notebook. Write down what you are learning. Get other resource material. Do not have a bunch of teachers that teach differently. Meditate on His Word. Summary of the t [h] urah portion.
Gen. 12:1 Now Yahuah had said unto Abram, Get you out of your { ל ך ל ך } country, and from your kindred, and from your father s house, unto a land that I will show you: Gen. 12:4 So Abram departed, as Yahuah had spoken unto him; and Lot {veil/covering} went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. Abram was given a blessing. The promise is with Abram. However Lot went with him. Lot s name mean covering. This can show that those that attach themselves to Abram will be covered or blessed if you will. Gen. 15:6 And he believed in Yahuah; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Notice this was before circumcision, but later he gets circumcised, and ALL that is in his house does as well. Rom. 4:3 For what says the scripture? Abraham believed Alahiym, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Rom. 4:4 Now to him that works is the reward not reckoned of favor, but of debt. Rom. 4:5 But to him that works not, but believes on him that justifies the wicked, his faith is counted for righteousness. James 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? James 2:22 See you how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed Alahiym, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of Alahiym. James 2:24 You see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. At first glance, one maybe confused. One place it says his belief seemed to be good enough. Then we read later that his works justified him. However they are in harmony. The point must be made in context. Abraham first believed and it was counted unto him righteousness. After believing in the Creator. He then produced works. So it was not faith ONLY, but works accompanied it. Faith is the beginning not the end. James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Gen. 26:4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Gen. 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. o Why would his seed be blessed? Because he obeyed His voice, and kept His laws and Commandments. This pattern follows throughout all that comes after him. Seed would produce after like kind. He is the Father of faith. Mashiyach does the very thing according to the covenant. He is attached to the covenant.
Gal. 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He says not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to your seed, which is Mashiyach. Back Barashiyth {Genesis} Gen. 16:1 Now S [h] araiy Abram s wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar. Gen. 16:2 And S [h] araiy said unto Abram, Behold now, Yahuah has restrained me from bearing: I pray you, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of S [h] araiy. Gen. 16:3 And S [h] araiy Abram s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife. Gen. 16:4 And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes. What was the promise to Abraham? S [h] arah would have a child. This was to be done by faith. S [h] arah on the other hand did not have faith, and operated under works. This is how you operate under a different seed. Yashma al {Yishmael/Ishmael} is the child by works. So he is the physical seed of Abraham, but not the promised seed. Another way of saying this is, he was not the seed of the Word. Yatsqak {Yitsqak/Isaac} is the child by promise, faith and works. Gen. 17:19 And Alahiym said, S [h] arah your wife shall bear you a son indeed; and you shall call his name Yatsqak {Yitsqak/Isaac} : and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. Gen. 17:20 And as for Yashma al {Yishmael/Ishmael}, I have heard you: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. Gen. 17:21 But my covenant will I establish with Yatsqak {Yitsqak/Isaac}, which S [h] arah shall bear unto you at this set time in the next year. Gen. 17:22 And he left off talking with him, and Alahiym went up from Abraham. Gen. 17:23 And Abraham took Yashma al {Yishmael/Ishmael} his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham s house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as Alahiym had said unto him. Gen. 17:24 And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. Gen. 17:25 And Yashma al {Yishmael/Ishmael} his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. Gen. 17:26 In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Yashma al {Yishmael/Ishmael} his son. Gen. 17:27 And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
Yashma al {Yishmael/Ishmael} was not the promised child, but he was circumcised, so that he could be apart of the promise. This is a great way to see how those not of promise can be apart of the promise. They have to do it the way the promise, the covenant has been laid out. One covenant does not annul another. Yahuah builds on the covenants He makes, and does not take it away. It would be like saying He made a mistake. We know He knows the end from the beginning. Gal. 4:21 Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? Gal. 4:22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. Gal. 4:23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Gal. 4:24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which genders to bondage, which is Hagar. Gal. 4:25 For this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. Gal. 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. When read verses 23-25, it may seem confusing. But what Shaul is sharing is there were two covenants made in this allegory. Both are of the same seed. First you must hear the Law. What does the Law say? Deut. 4:2 You shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish ought from it, that you may keep the commandments of Yahuah your Alahiym which I command you. Prov. 30:6 Add you not unto his words, lest he reprove you, and you be found a liar. When you added to his word you are like Hagar. Hagar was the bondwoman. Going to Sinai without faith. It was by works that they tried to fulfill the promise. You will not be free keeping the laws and commandments of Yahuah without faith. Faith comes by hearing, hearing the Word of Alahiym. NOT MAN. That was the reason he also said, this is the Jerusalem that is now. They were full of man made commandments, adding to the laws and commandments of Mount Sinai. Mashiyach was dealing with this throughout His whole ministry. Gal. 4:27 For it is written, Rejoice, you barren that bears not; break forth and cry, you that travails not: for the desolate has many more children than she which has an husband. Gal. 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Yatsqak {Yitsqak/Isaac} was, are the children of promise. Gal. 4:29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Gal. 4:30 Nevertheless what says the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. Gal. 4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free. Key words that makes a difference in the scriptures
Barashiyth {Genesis} 12:5 And Abram took S [h] arai {Sarai} his wife, and Lot his brother s son, and all their (Bad translation) substance that they had gathered, and souls that they had gotten made in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. (Changing souls to follow Yahuah). Barashiyth {Genesis} 14:17-21 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaueh, which is the king s dale. And Malchitsadak king of S [h] alem (Salem) brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the Most High Al (El) o He was king and priest. In ישראל this is normally not possible. There are rare occasions. Are there anyone else o o o said to be a King and Priest? Yahusha What did he bring? Bread and Wine. Is this a picture of why Yahusha is called After the order of Malchizadak? Malchitsadak and the Mashiyach s priesthood do not cancel out the Aharonic priesthood. Did Yahusha do away with the earthly Temple? No it was patterned after the Heavenly Temple. And he blessed him, and said, blessed be Abram of the Most High Al (El) possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the Most High Al (El) which has delivered your enemies into your hand. And gave him tithes of all. (another translation) And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, give me the persons souls, and take the goods to yourself. Mattithyahu (Matthew) 1:17 Generally Women names are not given, except for special reasons or rare occasions. The father was the one who determined the nationality and tribal identity and this is even held today in our society the daughters take on the names of their fathers. The Seed of Abraham (Bara. (Gen) 22:18), The Mashiyach {Messiah} had to come from the nation of Yashra al {Israel} and from the Seed/tribe of Yahudah (Judah). The rod out of the stem of Yashiy (Jesse) (Yasha. (Isa) 11:1, 10). He was the branch of Yahuah (Yasha. (Isa) 4:2), and the messenger of the covenant. Mashiyach (Messiah) Yahusha fulfilled all of these requirements.
