1 JEWISH FAMILIES OF PROSSNITZ [PROSTEJOV] BROCH - FLESCH Broch and Neubroch [originally Kohn / Kohen] There were four distinct branches of the Broch family, with two of them using both the Broch and Neubroch surnames. In his history of the Prossnitz Jewish community, Dr. Leopold Goldschmied writes the following [ Geschichte Der Juden In Prossnitz, footnote, p. 504]: Gabriel Broch = Ben Rabbi Aron Kohen hiess ursprunglich Gabriel Aron. Auch hier sind zwei Linien zu unterscheiden. Die erste, zu der Gabriel und Salomon Broch gehoren, und eine zweite, welche sich von Abraham Pinkas herleitet und zum Unterschiede Neybroch naunte. Translated to English: Gabriel Broch, son of Rabbi Aron Kohen, was originally Gabriel Aron. Again two lines are to be distinguished.
