He will begin checking Mezzuzot after the 8:30 minyan (around 9:15am) in the Social Hall and will be at YIEB until around 5pm. Please drop off your Mezzuzot earlier in the day so they can be returned to you the same day. Tefillin will be checked offsite and then returned. Shaatnez checking has been postponed to a later date TBD. For any questions, please see Avi Tuchman. Twenty four buses from the tri-state area brought approx people to Washington. Our "small" community sent 4 buses and represented almost 15 % of the mission. We particularly want to thank 4 of the community rabbis: Rabbi Kaufman, Rabbi Luban, Rabbi Miodownik and Rabbi Weinstein for joining us on the mission. We are blessed to be living at a time when the doors of Congress are open for us to advocate for Israel s security. Celebrate Yom HaAtzmaut this Shabbat Join us in shul this Shabbat as the youth department children and teens help the community celebrate Israel through davening, presentations and song. The Celebration Continues: B nei Akiva this Shabbat The final B nei Akiva snif of the year is this Shabbat and Danny and Aviva have something special planned! 1. Middle school and high school students have a special luncheon and Israel program planned for 1:00 pm at shul. 2. Snif will be held from 3:00-4:00 pm for those in grades 2-5. A special dairy project is planned to celebrate Israel. Mother-Child Cooking Project Children in kindergarten and younger are encouraged to show a little maternal appreciation by joining us for a special, hands-on, Mom & Me cooking project on Tuesday, May 13th from 5:00 6:00 p.m. at the shul. Teen Scholar-in-Residence, Lag B Omer Weekend Rabbi David Katz, of Alon Shvut, Israel, and Chief Rabbinate of Israel, Yeshivat Har Etzion, will be joining us on the weekend of May There will be a Friday night oneg at the Newmark home, at 9:30 pm on the subject of Tradition and Modernity. There will be a sicha on the subject of Different Models of Jewish Piety and a deluxe Kiddush after teen minyan. Rabbi Katz will be running a program for teen staff and leaders at a special seudah shlishit. Finally, there will be a tefillin workshop and BBQ on Sunday morning, at the home of the Newmarks for pre-bar Mitzvah boys. If you are not registered to vote, register now using a voter registration application that may be downloaded at The deadline to register to vote in the Erev Shavuot June 3, 2014 Primary Election is May 12, 2014, and October 14, 2014 for the November 4, 2014 General Election. 4 YACHAD, THE NATIONAL JEWISH COUNCIL FOR DISABILITIES is a thriving global organization dedicated to addressing the needs of all Jewish individuals with disabilities and ensuring their inclusion in every aspect of Jewish life.
