1 Shaykh Muhammad b. Hādi al Madkhalī - As Recommended By The Kibār al Ulema Transcribed by Umm Yousufyaan Zeenat b. Ahmed A beautiful lecture given by Shaykh Muhammad al Anjarī in defence of our noble Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi al Madkhalī, and translated by brother Nabil Chogle.

2 The Ālim Muhammad b. Hādi' (hafidhahullāh) As Recommended By The Kibār al Ulema' What I'm going to go through, ikhwān today, is the translation of the beautiful lesson, which our Shaykh, Shaykh Muhammad al Anjarī, (hafidhahullāh) he just gave in Kuwait, on this day, which is the 26th October in the English Calender, 2014, in the evening around 10.30pm, Makkah time; and the Shaykh titled this lesson, The Ālim Muhammad bin Hādi' (hafidhahullāh) - As Has been Recommended By Our Kibār.' Shaykh Muhammad al Anjarī (hafidhahullāh) spoke about this noble ālim, Muhammad bin Hādi, and he said, this is the ālim who warned against the Ikhwānul Muslimūn for example, and this is the ālim who was known regarding warning against Ahlul Bi'dah from its very early stage; and this is an ālim who was known even from when he was in his early twenties in age, and he is no doubt from the Scholars of Madīnah. Our Shaykh Muhammad al Anjarī (hafidhahullāh) he said, I'm going to relate to you some statements from the Scholars of the Kibār, like Muhammad Amān al Jāmi (rahimahullāh) from the noble scholars, when he defended this ālim, Muhammad bin Hādi, and recommended him for almost fifteen minutes in one instance; and he spoke about this ālim about his benefits, and about how one should benefit from him; and he spoke about this ālim when Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi was in his twenties. So we ask Allāh (subhānahu wa ta āla), that Allāh give this ālim, Muhammad bin Hādi, good health, āmīn; and Allāh knows that we love this ālim. Shaykh Page 2

3 Muhammad al Anjarī (hafidhahullāh) he mentions the statement of Hassan bin Thābit, where he said 'We follow and we do not innovate.' This is an ālim who raised the banner of Qur'ān and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Companions; and as was well known that the Ulema, that they would recommend the likes of these scholars. So you find that Ahlussunnah in every time and every place, they wouldn't warn against the likes of these scholars from the Qur'ān and Sunnah, and those who are upon the understanding of the Companions; rather, you would find that they recommended them, and we are not just speaking about this ālim's memory, and about his memorisation; which no doubt it is well known what Allāh has blessed him with. I'm not just speaking about his books which he has published and written and from those books which are in manuscript form and which have not been published; and he is known for that no doubt, wa lillāhil hamd. But I am going to relate to you an instance about an individual who recently spoke about this man; an individual who, Shaykh al Anjarī (hafidhahullāh) he said, this individual is majhūl; he is an unknown individual, he is an individual who is diseased in his heart. This one instance, was an instance when Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi was in Kuwait, and he was speaking about different authorships from the Salaf of this Ummah and different books and their authors and their biographies; and it was this sitting in which our noble Shaykh, Shaykh Ahmed as Subay'ī (hafidhahullāh), and other than them were present, lots of other mashāyikh were present; and this individual who recently spoke about Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi, he was sat right next to me, and after he heard what Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi said about those books, he said to me with meaning, and as I remember what he said that I don t even know a single one of these books and these scholars who this ālim has mentioned.' So Shaykh al Anjarī (hafidhahullāh) he said, look at the level of this person, why doesn t he know his own level? It is not something deficient or something shameful to know your own level, you should know your own level. You did not even know one of the books that this ālim had mentioned and today you want to warn against this Shaykh! This ālim, Muhammad bin Hādi, who is known for his Arabic grammar and his command in the Arabic language, and he is somebody who is deep in this language, to the extent that some of those who are close to him they called him Sibaway. Sibaway was a known great scholar in the Arabic language; this is what some of his students, as has been narrated to us, by some of the trustworthy brothers, that they call him Sibaway in Arabic. 4 This ālim is also known, as is known, from his class from his students that attend his class, that they would love to listen from this ālim, his recitation of the Qur ān because of the beautiful recitation that this Shaykh possesses. Likewise they would even want to see his handwriting, because of what he has by way of beautiful handwriting and the way he summarises notes; and all of the other things which Allāh has blessed him with. He is a person of good character, this is what is known from this ālim, and you have the praise of Shaykh Abdul Azīz ibn Bāz regarding Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi from when Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi was in his twenties, (hafidhahullāhu ta'āla). So now you have this majhūl, this unknown person, this miskīn, this poor person; poor in his knowledge and poor in his demeanour to say what he said regarding Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi, and warn against him; and when you have and compare that with the likes of Shaykh an-najmi (rahimahullāh), when he said that Shaykh Muhammad bin Hadi is from the afāḍhil; from those noble Ulema, from those praiseworthy and noble Ulema; and he is from the best of them and he is a person of Sunnah. So how is it that this majhūl now comes, this unknown person and he opposes the likes of these Kibār al Ulema in their praise of Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi. So Shaykh al Anjarī (hafidhahullāh) he said, that normally, you find that this is the trait of the majāhil, this is the trait of those unknown people, and they think that they can get some status and get to be known by being upon this way; rather what you find from them is that they are in opposition to the Sunnah and they are those who are the opposers of the Sunnah. Likewise Shaykh Ahmed an-najmi (rahimahullāh) he said regarding Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi, that they claim and they say don t take from him, don't take from Muhammad bin Hādi; Shaykh Ahmed an-najmi (rahimahullāh) is saying regarding Muhammad bin Hādi, that people claim and they say, don't take from him, so Shaykh Ahmed an-najmi (rahimahullāh) he said that those who say don't take from him are only from the likes of the people of hizbīyyah, and those who warn against the Salafis. And who was this? Shaykh Ahmed an- Najmi! From the Kibār al Ulema, from the Mufti of the South, al mamlaka, from the region of the South. Likewise Shaykh al Fawzān (hafidhahullāh), he praised Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi, and he termed him, he called him Muhammad al Hakami! Due to his Page 4

5 resemblance of Allāma Hāfidh al Hakami. May Allāh increase him in obedience, Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi, āmīn; and on this you find that some people strive to attack Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi and they speak against him! So here I say, (Shaykh Muhammad al Anjarī hafidhahullāh), I say, praise be to Allāh! Wa lillāhil hamd, that you have from the noble Kibār al Ulema, who have recommended this ālim, and that you do not have, and I do not know of to the best of my knowledge, and there is nobody from the Scholars of Ahlussunah who have warned against this ālim; and you find that the Scholars of Ahlussunah have all praise for this ālim from the likes of the Kibār al Ulema. So yā majhūl! I am telling you and I am addressing you, you unknown person, leave the diseases of your heart alone! If Allāh has not opened these affairs for you then don't speak about these matters, and you won't find yourself reaching the truth in this evil way that you are embarking upon, speaking against Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi! And if somebody comes to me and says, 'Excuse me for a second, you are speaking about this majhūl, where are your proofs?' So I say, no doubt I have with me proofs, and I have with me bayyinah, and this is the nahj, and this is the methodology of the people of Ahlussunnah; to bring the proof. This person, this majhūl, he said, and that which is authentic from him, in his own words and in his own writings he said 'Allāh knows how much I withhold against speaking against Shaykh Rabī'!' Wa a'ūdhu billāh! This person he said, 'Allāh knows how much I withhold against speaking against Shaykh Rabī!' So I say, (Shaykh Muhammad al Anjarī hafidhahullāh) I say, how do we understand this title; the title when he entitled and tried to do a defence of Shaykh Rabī and he said Rabī was al badri or Rabī was the likes of the people of Ahlul Badr, [and who are the Ahlul Badr, just as a side point ikhwān, Ahlul Badr are those whom Allāh (subhānahu wa taāla), as the Prophet (ṣallallāhu alayhī wa sallam) mentioned, that they are those whom Allah has forgiven their sins, their past and future]. So he goes into this extreme and says that Shaykh Rabī is from the people of Badr, he is like a Badri, and at the same time he writes and he says, 'Allāh know how much I withhold against warning against Shaykh Rabī'!' So Shaykh al Anjarī, (hafidhahullāh) he said, we are not worried if you speak against us, or not, but when you speak against the Kibār al Ulema, and when Page 5

6 you speak against those noble scholars, then we won't be quiet and we will defend them! As for when you speak against myself or other than me, then this is not something that I really take any account of or any weight; and we ask Allāh (subhānahu wa ta āla) for sincerity, we ask Allāh for ikhlās; and that this moment I recall a statement from al Marwadhi when they would warn against some of the scholars, and they would make ṭa'an of them so they would say, they're not really making ṭa'an of these scholars, rather who they want from this is Ahmad, Ahmad bin Hanbal. So shaykh Muhammad al Anjarī (hafidhahullāh), he said, here this is where I connect this and I mention, that when this person he said, 'I know how much I withhold speaking against Shaykh Rabī''; here you find he doesn't just want Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi, rather he wants Shaykh Rabī' too, this is who he wants, he wants to speak against Shaykh Rabī'. So Shaykh al Anjari (hafidhahullāh), he said, I haven t spoken about the tremendous nature of Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi's memory; and no doubt wa lillāhil hamd, Allāh has blessed him with such, or his books or other than that; rather I'm going to speak about three affairs in defence of this ālim. First of them being the thabāt of this ālim; the certainty and the firmness that this ālim possesses, what he is upon of the Sunnah, from the beginning of the affair; and then you have this majhūl, this unknown person and he comes and he warns against this ālim! How can you accept that! This was the ālim, Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi, who spoke against Ṣafar and Salmān from the very first beginning and he was from amongst the first ones to warn against them, to the extent that even Shaykh al Albāni (rahimahullāh) he made reference to the warning of Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi regarding Ṣafar and Salmān. He is the one who clarified the affair of Ṣafar and Salmān to the Ummah. I remember a time when Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi was in Jahra, in a part in Kuwait, and he gave a beautiful lesson, warning against al mukhadila and the likes of them, and Shaykh al Anjarī, (hafidhahullāh), he said, I wish and I hope that someone transcribes this lesson and prints it out in a leaflet form or in a small book; and it was as if the Shaykh, Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi, he warned against the biṭānatul Jamā'āt, those people who hide in the cloak of the Jamā'āt of the Islamic innovated and political parties, and the Shaykh he warned against them, and he warned against the dangers of them regarding the dangers they have upon the Sunnah and Ahlussunnah. 7 So we ask Allāh (subhānahu wa ta āla) to give him Shifā, to give him cure and cure this ālim and keep him in good health. Likewise he was from the first who warned against the Surūrīyyah, the second point, is that he is amongst the first from those Ulema, Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi, who warned against the Surūrīyyah; he was from those, the likes of whom Shaykh Rabī' bin Hādi and Shaykh Ubayd have recommended to take from his warnings against the Surūrīyyah; and then you have this majhūl, this unknown person who comes and he speaks about warning against Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi. So Shaykh al Anjarī (hafidhahullāh) he said, I say to the shabāb of Kuwait, to the youth of Kuwait and to the brothers of Kuwait, listen to the likes of the statement of this ālim Shaykh Ṣalih as-suhaymī (hafidhahullāh) when he said just yesterday, that the one who describes Shaykh Rabī and Shaykh Ubayd and Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi al Madkhalī with tashaddud, with harshness in their da'wah, then we do not accept these terms from them regarding them! And you have how many of these people who speak against them and warn against them, Shaykh Ṣalih as-suhaymī, he said, we do not ever accept al batta, we never accept the likes of these descriptions regarding Shaykh Rabī, Shaykh Ubayd and Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi. So you find this person, when he describes Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi with these types of descriptions, this person, this majhūl, this is a disease of the majāhil; this is a disease of the unknown people, they think that they can be known to the people by these types of accusations regarding the Ulema. Look at the statement of Shaykh Sulaymān ar-ruhaylī, (hafidhahullāh), when he described Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi and said, He is the noble shaykh, the memorisor, the one who specialised in different aspects of the religion. For this majhūl, this miskīn, this unknown poor person, this one for him the message is: it is not something shameful, by way of putting yourself down, that you know your own level, the one who you have warned against, the likes of you, these majāhil, then this is rejected from you, and you are nothing but rejected, and this ālim is known, and the faḍhl of this ālim, the virtues of this ālim is known by Allāh (subhānahu wa ta āla), and this ālim's knowledge that he is known upon and the praise of the scholars for him; and Shaykh Muhammad al Anjarī (hafidhahullāh), he said, I would like to finish with the statement of ibn Bāz (rahimahullāh) when he described some of the scholars of Madīnah he said, they are from those specific special of our brothers, and they are known for istiqāmah, they are known for their firmness, and they are known to calling to Page 7

8 the Sīrah of Muhammad (ṣallallāhu alayhī wa sallam) and his aqīdah, and they are known for their da wah. So reflect, yā ikhwān! Who said this regarding Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi? It was Shaykh Abdul Azīz bin Bāz (rahimahullāh) when Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi was only in his twenties! So this majhūl who speaks about Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi, it is nothing except that he has envy and jealousy regarding him! So we ask Allāh (subhānahu wa ta āla) to give all of us sincerity in our actions, sincerity in our call, and the founding principle of our da'wah is sincerity, is ikhlās; and I ask Allāh (subhānahu wa ta āla) once again, as Shaykh Muhammad al Anjarī (hafidhahullāh) he said, I ask Allāh (subhānahu wa ta āla) once again to give this ālim, Muhammad bin Hādi good health, and cure him and put his good deeds on the scales on yawm-ul-qiyāmah and we hope to see our Shaykh Muhammad bin Hādi, in Kuwait once again very soon, and we hope that we can benefit from him, and we hope that Allāh protects him from his enemies and the enemies of the da'wah Sunnīyyah, and those who do not want an nahj ul wāḍih, and those who not want the clear manhaj, or the clear methodology.
