Description of course objectives: The course is for the continuing yoga student. Sequencing, breathing, asana variations and developing a personal practice will be explored. Each class will repeat and expand on the asanas of the previous week. The chronology of the work is sequential, unlike a drop-in class. This necessitates attendance and class participation. Journals will document internet sites on history, philosophy and online practice. Youtube.com will be the students resource for relating to yogi practice. Pre-requisite(s): Yoga I. Source of reading: internet topics Required Equipment/Material(s): yoga sticky mat, yoga strap, yoga block, blanket or large and small towel Weekly schedule: variations as required by class Each class begins with seated poses and deep breathing Sukhasana (easy seated) / Dandasana (staff) / Virasana with arm lift / Virasana with Maricyasana / Kronunchasana with abdominal twist / scissors legs / table opposite

The journals will cover personal insights, yoga tips to remember, and internet information the student finds valuable. Journals will be discussed in class on the first day of the week of class. Suggested sources yogajournal.com - youtube Tips for successful participation in class: refrain from eating two hours prior to class Tardiness is not a part of yoga practice. Competition with oneself or others is inappropriate to deep practice. Grading Policies: 20 points journal, class discussion 30 points asana practice in class 30 points presentation of asana sequence, vinyasa yoga 20 points attendance, five points lost for each absence Grading Scale: = A = B = C = D 50 0 = F The above schedule may change due to time constraints. Attendance requirements: Any student who does not participate in classes cannot expect to satisfactorily complete course objectives and therefore should consider dropping the course. 4 Definition of a credit hour: This is a 1 credit course. Students are expected to invest approximately 6 + hours per week in class activities. This includes class participation, lectures and outside assignments. University Policies 1. Students with disabilities. If the complaint allegedly violates a specific university policy, it may be directed to the head of the department or academic unit in which the complaint occurred or to the appropriate university office responsible for enforcing the policy Grade appeal procedures.
