2 Planning Guide BIBLE SPONSORSHIP KIT The Colaborate Lutheran Student Bible was designed with your students in mind! Featuring interactive graphics, interesting facts, and insightful commentary, this NRSV Bible is designed to bring the story of God to life for students. But when budgets are tight, purchasing a Bible for each student in confirmation may seem overwhelming. Rather than including this cost in your curriculum budget, try something new: a Bible sponsorship program! The Colaborate Lutheran Student Bible Sponsorship Kit is a simple way to help put God s Word in your students hands. Follow these steps to raise the dollars you need to purchase Bibles for every student in your youth group. 1. Select an approach. Based on the youth and families in your congregation, choose who you d like to invite to purchase Bibles for students. This online kit provides materials to invite funding from several sources: parents, extended family (grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc.), godparents, and congregational members. 2. Plan your sponsorship program. Decide when, where, and to whom you ll publicize this sponsorship program. Notify others in the church who need to know, write in dates on your calendar, and enlist help for making copies, stuffing bulletins, and taping up posters. 3. Carry out your campaign! Build excitement for your sponsorship program by announcing this opportunity during worship, distributing materials, and planning displays (a few copies of Colaborate Lutheran Student Bibles, the thermometer poster).

3 What s Inside PLANNING GUIDE You re in it! ANNOUNCEMENT POSTER Print out this poster and place it in all the common areas of your church. Inform the congregation about where they can pick up Bible sponsorship forms by jotting down the location on the line. INVITATION AND SPONSORSHIP FORM These are the forms the Announcement Poster mentions. Place these forms in an easy-to-find common area. The left side of the form is to inform members about the sponsorship program. The right side of the form is what needs to be returned to you. When announcing the fundraiser, be clear about what you need (cash, check, etc) and by when. There is a line at the bottom, By: that you can fill out to ensure timely donations. TRACK PROGRESS POSTER Print this Progress Poster and post in a common area. This progress poster informs the congregation of how the campaign is going, as well as how close your ministry is to its goal! THANK YOU CERTIFICATE Give these certificates to the generous members who donated. Print out or send in an . Better yet, have each student in your program deliver the thank-you certificate personally! DONATION CARDS After the fundraiser is over, slip these donation cards into each student s Bible. Each student will be thrilled to have their own Bible, and will know exactly who to thank!

5 Bible Sponsorship Invitation This year our congregation will be using a new confirmation curriculum called Colaborate. Colaborate is a one-of-akind Lutheran confirmation curriculum. It unpacks students assumptions, past knowledge, and even disinterest about the Bible, Lutheran history, and the Small Catechism to engage and encourage them as they take this major step in the journey of faith. We want each confirmation student to have a Colaborate Lutheran Student Bible...and that s where YOU come in! Bible Sponsorship Program Yes, I would like to help put God s Word in our students hands!
